A Story Based On LBPK

Archive: 6 posts

Yep, the title says it all.
This is only a little bit from my story, but it features four sackpeople, mine - Prote, Mas, Em, and Tz. (They are all based off players I am friends with)
Basically, the gang are at the Progress Emporium, where Doubtworthy has turned out to be evil, and is using his World's Fair machines to brainwash people into being happy and to work for him.

Prote was clamped to a chair.
As was Mas. And Em. And Tz, as well.
Things didn?t look good.
Prote struggled about. ?Rrgh! Get me out of this thing!?
?Think of it positively,? Doubtworthy sneered, ?In less than thirty seconds you?ll be happier than you?ve ever been. Ta-ta!?
He hurried out of the room.
Mas pondered things for a moment. ?Happier than we?ve ever been?I really hate this.?
Prote frowned. ?Well, we?ve only got twenty-three seconds to think of a stunningly amazing escape plan. Twenty-one, actually. Well, twenty??
?Oh, shut up! This is not helping!? Tz shrieked.
?Alright, calm down,? Prote muttered, ?I think best when things are quiet.?
?Okay.? Mas nodded, and shut up.
?Hold on.? Prote had an idea. It was most likely not going to work, but it was worth trying anyway.
?I need to reach that metal control panel in the middle of that table.?
The group were tied down in a rough circle around a large, towering metal cylinder that stretched up to the ceiling, and came down in the form of cables that were attached to their heads.
In the middle of the circular tube, there were control panels attached to the outside, bleeping loudly, and flashing lights around the room.
?Ten seconds,? Mas reminded him.
Prote kicked out at the tube. His foot just missed. Just.
He tried to shuffle forwards a bit, but ended up shuffling backwards. ?Rrgh! I can?t reach it! Mas, can you???
Mas kicked out at the tube, his feet making hard impact with its glass and metal exterior. Inside, electric bolts were zapping up and down, presumably something to do with the enforced happiness that was about to be delivered to their heads in six seconds.
Five.
Four.
Mas kicked it again.
?Keep kicking!? Prote encouraged. ?We might be able to damage it!?
?I doubt that!? Tz yelled.
?Shut up!? Prote hissed. ?You?re not helping!?
One.
Zzap!
The charged positivity was delivered to their heads at the exact same time Mas broke the glass on the machine. Thus, most of the positivity escaped into the Imagisphere and was promptly stolen by the Hoard.
The machine, however, exploded.
Just a small explosion, however, but one big enough to start a fire. The spark popped onto the carpeted floor, igniting.
The four were lucky that the chairs? clamps relied on power supplied from the machine, or they would have been incinerated there and then.
The clamps popped open and the group ran out. Prote grabbed the cupcake processor and continued.
The fire roared through the room, burning bright. It spread to another room, consuming the corridors in between. It then proceeded to burn the entire brainwashing facility, before beginning to consume the entire Progress Emporium!
There were, oddly, no fire extinguishers in the entire Progress Emporium, mostly because Doubtworthy was so reliant on his machinery to never break that he thought there was no danger of fire.
He was, unsurprisingly, wrong.
The four fled the building, and decided to run.
Very fast.
In the opposite direction.
Prote grabbed his kart, leapt aboard it, and proceeded to drive away.
?Come on!? He yelled, ?We should be able to make it to the Pod if we start now!?
The others climbed aboard their karts and drove away.

***
The actual layout of the Progress Emporium is, interestingly, a bit like a small city.
Prote found the journey quite exciting, particularly since they were being pursued by Doubtworthy?s army of brainwashed zombies, and the Hoard.
?Where?s the Pod?? Mas cried as they got to the parking bays. ?Don?t tell me the Hoard have stolen it as well!?
?Ahoy there, Mr Protoraptor!? It was a sackbot, calling out.
From above.
The group looked up, and saw the Pod, flying above them. Leaning out of the hangar were the sackbots.
One was steering, the others waving and calling down.
?I don't believe it,? Prote cried, ?What are you doing here??
The sackbots waved.
?We were?erm?doing some research into the?er?Emporium, for Clive.? One called down.
?You were spying!? Prote laughed, ?Spying, for Clive!?
?Uh?? The sackbots didn?t quite know what to say.
?I don't care,? Prote grinned, ?You?ve saved our stuffing! How do we get on board??
A ramp appeared from the hangar and lowered down, allowing the four to drive on board.
?Hah!? Prote yelled out. ?Thanks, guys.?
?No problem,? the lead sackbot burbled cheerfully.
Mas frowned. ?What are you guys called??
The lead sackbot chattered happily. ?My name is Kevin. And he?s Doug, he?s Rick, he?s Sam, that?s Jeff, he?s Craig and then he?s Jonathan.? The sackbot gurgled, pointing to each one in turn.
The Pod began to lift away, sailing into the sky like some kind of magnificent sailing ship.
?So then, Mr Protoraptor, where to next?? Kevin asked.
?Uh?Eve?s Asylum, I think. I could do with a rest after all that.? Prote decided.
?Sam!? Kevin commanded, ?Plot a course for Eve?s Asylum!?

Here we go.
The group have just left the Progress Emporium, and are now on their way to Eve's Asylum.

The Pod touched down lightly in Eve?s Asylum.
?We?re here, sirs!? Kevin burbled.
?Thanks, Kevin,? Tz muttered.
The four disembarked, hopping down to move towards Eve?s tree, where she lived, at the core of the Asylum.
Prote walked towards Eve?s domain, a huge, wooden building towering over the four.
He knocked politely on the door. ?Uh, Eve? Can we chill for a bit??
Eve?s Asylum was notable for its soothing Imagispherean auras, calming the occupants and anyone who came to visit. So it was understandable that Prote had chosen this planet for a spot of ?
Thud!
A door on Eve?s balcony was flung open, and a Hoarder came hurrying out of it! It was carrying a lot of furniture, and it cackled evilly, before leaping onto its aero-kart and whizzing off the balcony.
?Don?t tell me they?re here too?? Mas sighed.
Eve came running out of the balcony door. ?Quickly! El Hoard are upon us! Follow me to the casa de seguridad!?
Eve hurried back through her balcony, out of the front door, and hurried the four away.
?What about the sackbots?? Prote asked, only to turn and see the seven sackbots following them intently.
Eventually they came across a higher up tree, poking above the others. They climbed it, and came across a little wooden hut nestled in the branches.
?What is this place?? Prote asked.
?This is casa de seguridad.? Eve explained. ?My safe house. I created it after the attack of El Negativitron Diablo.?
?I see,? Mas said, ?A sort of panic room.?
Eve nodded. ?S?. But those mal?volo Hoarders are attacking my Asylum. I fear they shall steal the patients, such thieves are they.?
It was an attempt at a joke, but no one was really in the mood for jokes at present.
?What do we do now?? asked Em.
?I?I guess?we stop the Hoard?? Prote suggested, ?Again.?
There were a few rattling noises from above.
?I think something?s fallen over, upstairs,? Mas muttered.
Eve stopped. ?There is no upstairs. This is a one-room hut.?
Everyone froze.
?What do we do now, Miss Paragorica?? Kevin piped up.
?I suggest we all remain very quiet,? Prote said, in a low voice.
There was a rattling noise again, from upstairs.
Mas looked up. ?I think there could be Hoard up there,?
?You don't say?? Tz exclaimed, sarcastically.
?Shush!? Prote hissed, but it was too late.
The roof caved in, bending in on itself, collapsing as a Hoarder dropped through it. The Hoarder was holding a large, canvas sack, bulging with stolen items.
It reached out and grabbed a lamp, sitting quietly on the table, before stuffing it into the sack.
?The opposite of Sackta Claus,? Mas breathed.
Eve looked very concerned. She grabbed a long, wooden stick that was propped up by the entrance, and slowly advanced towards the Hoard.
The Hoarder gurgled, it leapt onto a dangling rope that had been dropped into the hole, and flew up.
?Oh, marvellous,? Prote sighed, ?Now they know where we are.?

***
One short dash later, the group were hiding in Higginbotham?s old boudoir.
?I don't think they?ll find us here.? Eve sighed, relieved.

Meanwhile, the Hoard were desperately trying to find the group, knowing that they had a Pod which could be used to travel faster around the galaxy, and steal more.
They needed something, something to help them find the group quicker.
Something with a good sense of smell, something that was big, and dangerous, and very, very fast.
Something that would most likely convince the group to hand over their Pod.
Luckily, the Hoard had friends in the know.
Meanies.
The Negativitron?s old minions had plenty of discarded machines. It was those machines that had helped the Hoard to first steal a lot of stuff.
If anyone knew how to scare the sackpeople, it was them.
One hour later, the meanies had delivered a huge, burning firepede to the Asylum, a creature so fiendish it was more fiendish than the most fiendish fiend ever.
The firepede flexed its muscles, roaring. It swept its huge, powerful tail, and set off before the meanies could explain to the Hoard how to control it.
The meanies left, leaving the Hoard to deal with the firepede for themselves.

***
It was quiet, back in Higginbotham?s hut.
Everyone was silent, contemplating the entirely possible end of the Craftverse under the Hoard?s tyrannical regime.
?Hold on,? Sam bleeped urgently, ?Can you hear that??
?Hear what?? Eve asked.
?The loud, roaring noi ??
RROOAAAARR!!!
?Oh.? whimpered Prote.
The group looked around, looking for the source of the roar, a loud, deafening boom that shook the air and ?
Crash.
Well, it was more like:
KA-BLOOM!
The entire hut collapsed, as a huge, roaring monster burst through the wall, completely destroying the small hut.
?Run!? Kevin yelled.
The group ran, as the huge firepede screamed through the forests after them.
The huge creature tore down trees in its pursuit, burning them down with a simple breath on the trees.
?We?re doomed!? Prote screamed in his mad dash to escape.
The trees collapsed, falling around the twelve as they ran.
The firepede roared at them, and Prote couldn?t help but notice a note, pinned to the firepede?s flaming neck.
He could just about read it.
The Hoard wanted the Pod, and they?d sent a note on the firepede to?
Well, that was a bit OTT.
Prote didn?t get time to tell the group, because at that point, they came across the group?s karts, obviously stolen from the Pod and left there.
But why hadn?t they stolen the Pod?
Unless?they didn?t know how to fly it?
Anyway, thought Prote, I?m running for my life from some giant firepede thing. This is no time for deduction!

They jumped on their karts and drove away, Eve sharing a sidecar with Kevin?s bike.

Em stopped her kart.
She put it into reverse.

?What the heck are you doing?? Prote yelled. ?Are you nuts??

Tz stopped, and also put her kart into reverse. She took out her weaponator.

Em did the same.
They both fired at the firepede, which staggered backwards.
?It's working!? Sam cried, ?Keep shooting, Miss!?
They continued shooting.

***
Prote ran over to look at the burning corpse of the firepede, flat in the lane.
?Wow.?
Em stared at the dead thing. ?Thanks.?
Eve and the sackbots came over to stare at the dead firepede.
?Oh, gracias, you have saved my Asylum!? Eve exclaimed, ?Gracias.?
Tz nodded at her.
?Well,? Prote said, ?This mess is going to need a bit of tidying up.?
?Oh, do not worry, amigos,? Eve said, ?You may continue on your quest. I shall take care of this.?
Mas grinned. ?Look! The Hoard! They?re leaving!?
It was true.
They had boarded their little space-karts, and were leaving now, taking off, escaping Eve?s Asylum.
Jeff waited till they were out of earshot, and then yelled at them:
?And don't come back!?
?Wait.? Prote said. ?Where?where are they going??
?We should probably follow them.? Em said.
Tz nodded before Prote had a chance to protest.

***?Where are they going?? Prote asked. ?We?ve been flying for ages and surely the Pod needs a refuel. Also, I?m hungry.?
?Oh, stop whinging,? Tz growled. ?We?ll be there soon, I?m sure of it.?
?Sooner than you think!? Mas called, from the Pod Computer. ?There they are!?
?Where?? Kevin asked.
?Avalonia!?

There you go.

So then, should I continue with more after this section (e.g. Avalonia and the Space Bass), or before it, e.g. Victoria's Lab?

If you really want, I can write a 'prequel' of sorts, with the four (Prote, Mas, Tz and Em) meeting each other in LBP1.
