Just a question. Will there be any LBPK contests and or spotlights in the future?2012-12-28 02:11:00

They are already being Spotlighted.

As for contests...

At the moment the Contest Crew is involved with the Seasonal Spirits Crown Contest:

AND

The TripleSack Contest:

Plus the Holidays.

Plus, the amount of creators involved on Karting is still almost negligible.
So...even if the Contest Crew works doesn't get noticed like other features of LBP, we invest loads of time to realize the contests, and we want to use the time to cather to the biggest basin of users possible.
Speaking 100% honestly like I always do...
Seasonal Spirits (http://lbp.me/search?q=sscc) involving 2 fansites produced only 34 levels (including the locked ones), and generally speaking contests are taking big hits in partecipations.
And the theme and requisites are fairly easy, so the difficulty of standard Contest Crew's contests can't be taken into account for a low number of created levels, LBPC9 had only 15 levels.
Not to mention that in 51 days since release LBPC Community produced only 87 LBPKarting levels (http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/?name=littlebigplanet)...
Also considering the sales charts (http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/?name=littlebigplanet) I really wonder how many people would partecipate in a Karting contest.
I honestly say that working weeks on a Contest to have a bit more of a dozen entries is...very very depressing.

So...would YOU take loads of your spare time to prepare a Karting contest?

but, as the game is stuggling, it needs as much support as it can get... .and exposure to other lbp players who could be tempted to pick it up. I know how much effort these things take (I've run these type of events before) but I would hope that LBPK would get at least one contest in the new year to see if it can help interest in the game.

I see your point Adi and thoroughly agree but, again, with my heart in my hand, I say that Sony is not coming to the "not enlightened" like me with a copy of Karting saying "Yo dude, thanks for what you've done so far, help us kicking this thing off, take a copy of Karting so that you can keep going with your work".
When you see prizes that are different from Crowns, like PSN cards or Vita or games, or even Beta Vests...there is NOT Sony behind them.
So yeah guys, I love you all, I love the Community, I will help any way I can and offer my availability with happyness and great pleasure, but I think there's a limit.

To be fair to LBPK, the game has not been out as long as LBP1 or 2, and didn't it take a while for the community for those two games to build up as well? LBPK also is not yet released in Japan.2012-12-28 13:30:00

Cheek the first week sales of
LBP1 (http://www.vgchartz.com/game/12390/littlebigplanet/Global/)
LBP2 (http://www.vgchartz.com/game/43908/littlebigplanet-2/Global/)
LBPK (http://www.vgchartz.com/game/70621/littlebigplanet-karting/Global/)
LBPVita (http://www.vgchartz.com/game/70952/littlebigplanet-ps-vita/Global/)
The game was highly hyped but only the 12% (rounded in excess) of users bought it.
Check instead when LBP2 was released how quickly the fanbase of LBP bought it.
Whoever in the Community fanbase was interested in Karting already bought it, some might wait for a price drop, but the game, though good and fun is not on par with the other LBP branded experiences.
Obviously I won't stop anyone to make a Karting contest but, at the moment I'm very reluctant to ask the Crew to invest time on making a Contest for Karting and I am reluctant to spend my money on Karting until its price tag lowers to 15 €.
Sorry to be blunt but I don't want to give you hopes for something I'm not even considering at the moment.
Hope the data and numbers I gave you will be a good reasoning for you.

I agree that US$59.99/€30 is steep for most people for a video game. I have bought very few games at prices like that. Many of the games I like are not best sellers: Raiden Fighters Aces, the Dynasty Warriors games, Rune Factory: Tides of Destiny, Dragon's Dogma.

How much work is it to set up a contest of any kind?

That's completely fine and I understand, thanks for the replies. Was just curious.

I didn't see the LBPK Spotlights, LOL. Thanks for pointing that out!
