Quick question, anyone ever close an Xbox live account. When I closed mine, I noticed 3 months later that I was still being billed for the service. It took a second call to their "support team" in order to actually have the account closed, and get billing ceased. Anyone else had this problem? I know out of the 4 people I have talked to who have closed an account with them, all 4 had the same problem I did. So I'm trying to get some idea of the scope of microsoft's corporate corruption, because from what I can tell it seems to be "protocol" to steal at least one months subscription money from every paying customer who tries to cancel their account.

Sounds more like "poor online maintenance" than "corporate corruption." (If it really was their intention, that'd be really low, considering Xbox 360 has been the highest selling console for about two years straight. Plus, it certainly wouldn't help matters with those they've lost to Playstation Plus) Nonetheless, that stinks, sorry to hear about the payment issues. Was Microsoft's customer service any good? I've heard great stuff about Nintendo's. (not sure about Sony though)

Was Microsoft's customer service any good? They replied that they could not refund the money they stole because, since I didn't record the first conversation where I requested my account to be closed, I had no proof that I had called.

If I recall correctly, it forbids their clients from collectively suing them. Just in case another security disaster happens and they don't feel like dealing with the possible legal consequences. Yep, Sony isn't exactly a saint either.

But being an American based company (not really sure about the laws in the rest of the world) I don't believe that Xbox would have a leg to stand on, should they recieve a class action lawsuit. EULAs are not a "formal" contract, do not override common law, and only really effect the company. Microsoft has every right to put whatever they want in their EULA, but the most they can really do about it is "if you sue us we wont let you play our crappy game any more." The fact that they have a clause (that you cannot opt out of) pertaining to Class Actions suits, means they know they are wronging a lot of people and that they are breaking the law. but it doesn't actually ....
