Playstation All Stars Adventure- A Sony Platformer

So I just got PSASBR, and I was thinking how much I wanted an adventure or platformer game with a mix of crossovers, then I thought of this and thought... why not? Or at least why not make a topic.

So basically, would anyone be interested in a Playstation All-Stars/ crossover themed level series? So like LBPC The Game, only instead of obscure forum references, it'd have Playstation stuff. Like you could go to levels from the various games (doesn't have to be from PSASBR) and... do stuff. I haven't really thought it out, it's just a random idea I had.

So yeah. Anyone interested in this? Or doing it? Again, haven't played LBP in so long, and I wouldn't be able to do much anyway, but I thought it was a cool idea that I should share. So? Thoughts?

I was disappointed with the lack of a story(mode) in PSASBR and their was some really great potential with the nice cast of characters.
This is a neat idea, there was an RPG-like PlayStation themed level I played some time ago.
There was a bunch of people saying how they loved the idea and how they would like to see it expanded upon... The level itself was less than mediocre at best.

How many levels do you have in mind?

Um... I dunno if I want to do another 12/20 level thing like LBPC: The Game... Then again, I also want to do a huge game. then again, I don't really think I'd be making most of it so eh.

So, to answer your question, I dunno XD

So, no one's interested? Well, I'm bored, so I'll come up with some random ideas anyway.

Basicaly, we COULD have one level for each game or so, and base that level off of that level. For instance, the infamous level could be an open ended world and stuff, whereas the Uncharted one could be a linear coridoor fest. We could also have hidden "lesser" games, like a Parrappa concert hidden in the inFamous level. Then like bosses from the games and stuff. Maybe each game could have an "Essence" to collect and the goal of the game is to collect all of the "Essence" to get to the final boss... or something.

It depends on what kind of game we would make... maybe have sackboy run through their levels and collecting "Essence" as you said have the game characters as backup sackbots Or maybe mix up say you use Iram of the pillars you could have it crash while the khimeras attack you (Sackboy) and Drake have Infamous world invaded by the Helghast, you help good cole and blah blah 2012-12-26 23:32:00

Hm, true. Probably better to mash up the games instead of just having one level per game. Make it more like a crossover spectactular.

Though, it'd be nigh impossible to fit in each character as it's own unique character and be able to play as each character... I would think, anyway.

Well, anyone interested in helping come up with a proof of cncept or something? :kz:

On a more serious note.
I like this idea, at the start of the level you could choose who you would be emitting that character with all of its logic.
To make sure when you select a character to go in the right controllinator for the character you chosen (since i'm sure it would be multiplayer)
The menu selection will have 4 controllinators where people select stuff once everyone selects stuff they fall down a specific pit that they're forced to go down which at the bottom spawns the character they selected. Just an idea!

Maybe, though I think doing that would, by necessity, mean each character has to be the "Same". Like, I would like there to be differences between the characters like Cole obviously has electric powers and stuff which could, in turn, charge batteries and stuff... and, well, I wouldn't want each character to hav to be... similarized, or for the gamepaly to be dumbed down so everyone can participate... if that makes sense.

Like, in my dream, each character has a power, and you use thoe powers to solve environmental puzzles.

Nah, that's not really what I'd want. I mean, I guess it'd be better than nothing, but I would love to have each character have an ability... For example!

Cole powers electric things
Sly can turn invisible to sneak past spotlights
Sackboy could will things into existence for, like, building blocks puzzles
Kratos could go into a rage to burst through walls or whatever

... Hm... or maybe, for LBP, it'd just be Sackboy going through the other worlds to defeat the ultimate enemy...

THE idunno.

So... would it be better to have the basic Sackboy as the main character and just have the other characters help and stuff, or have you change characters over and over and all the pitfalls that scenario represents.

I'd love to see this idea, and I really think the characters are really doable since Sony likes likes to DLC-costume everything. I mean, from the top of my head I know that Kat, Cole, Drake, Cloud, Helghast Soldiers, Snake, Emmett, Big Daddy, Sly, Ratchet, Jak, Daxter, Clank, Bentley, and Raiden can be implemented easilly if you bought their DLC costumes (or in Big Daddy's case, pre-order or download LBP Vita the first week it came out).


As for a plot, The ConvenientBadGuy goes and raids other Playstation universes, and collide them with the Imaginshpere, making everything look LBP-ish, and turn everyone in those universes into Sackfolk? And Sackboy is the only one that can save them because whatever?
I know it's not much, but I think it's a good enough kickstarter.

Well, I think for this, only Playstation characters should be in, i.e. no Big Daddy. But yeah, the costumes would help. Would be expensive though, but eh XD

Maybe Polygon Man could be going to all the Playstation Universes to try and destroy the World that left him behind... :kz:

Imma bump this because I think it is a great idea.

As for Polygon man, wouldn't it be extremely hard and tedious to make him? I mean, he's composed of many polygons and all.

Also, for the bosses, maybe you can do what Sonic Generations did and have 1 boss per era (PS1, PS2, PSP, PS3, Vita, Polygon Man)

This seems like an interesting project. I never played Playstation All Stars. Do you want to include only characters from the game, or would you want to include characters from not-featured Playstation games as well? Ie; Final Fantasy, Okami, etc.

I would also be happy to help with some sackbot logic.

Besides that, I really don't know how to help, I'm not really a top-notch level builder or designer... Well, it's easy to make an email. The thing that matters more is the Sony character DLC, but not as much as it is to get them to everybody.

And honestly, unless we get some more excitement around here, I doubt this will be going anywhere anyway

Nah, Final fantasy is owned by Square.

So yeah, talked to Taffey, and he was excited by the prospect and might be willing to give this the LBPC: The Game treatment, with private forums and whatever. But first, we need to decide two things:

1. If you're IN or OUT- In addition to level builders and stuff, I need people to help me plan stuff. Namely, at the moment what I need is another person to help plan the whole thing. Another me, as it were.

2. If we're doing a regular LBP-gameplay thing, where you play as Sackboy... or Sackbots, where you play as, well, anyone.

At any rate, the first thing we should do is plan. Anyone think they're good as a planner?

Why not make a group for it?

Step 1: make group.
Step 2: decide what we want the level to be
Step 3: build it

Maybe the Playstation characters could be trying to save LBPC from the wrath of >insert evil thing here<? Not sure but we need to get the ideas rollin' strong.

And waag has the right idea. Mega-projects need groups (which also creates the mathemagical thing called hype ).

Well, first off, this will have NOT be LBPC the Game or anything LBPC related. Only Sony stuff. It's reach will be beyond LBPC

Also, as I said before, Taffey said something about possibly giving this a private forum on this site, so I'm not sure about a group... Anyway, I think I'll come up with a few jobs, and also try to get a better looking thread.

I know it's not Playstation exclusive, but, then, neither was Bioshock. I have loads of Portal costumes if you need any.

I'm happy to help with this. My speciality is Story, (e.g. I'm best at making up plots), and I can sort of do visuals if necessary, like Portal.

I like Portal, in case that wasn't obvious.

No, I don't think there should be any non-Sony properties in this. That includes Bioshock, btw. I guess if I was outvoted by the team then it'd be ok, but I just don't want to make it too much of a mash up.

Also, this is a temporary list of whom I think would be needed:

Planners: Help organize the team and organize the game and overall gameflow.
Sackbot Makers: Program the playable characters with all of their powers.
Level Builders: Build the levels to fit around said powers and make levels and stuff
Boss Makers: Make Bosses from games.
Music Person: Make songs from various included games

Um... any other ideas? For the record, not looking for costume designers, because a lot of the stuff is already in game and I don't think making costumes is a big enough task by itself.

Well, what exactly are your previous experiences/ capabilities with planning?

Also, I believe that, in addition to main Sony series, there should be some hidden stuff from other series. Not full levels, though.

But the main question of the day... Who should you play as, and in what capacity?

Methinks you're confusing difficuly for ESRB Rating.

It wont be hard to do, have the sackbots microchip have 2 other chips.
1 of the chips have the logic for the character, the other chip has a sackbot follow behaviour.
You culd then activate the logic chip when the character is selected and the non logic chip when it is not.

I Would LOVE a platformer like this. When i bought PSASBR I was hooked and ive racked 100 hours of gameplay. (oops) I would most certainly help. You could pick 4 of the main PS Icons (Nathan Drake, Cole, Sackboy etc.) and give them a short story each. You could copy the attacks by using sackbot animations. In the opening cinematic of the game both Jak and Ratchet (I can only assume the other characters as well) appear from a waving veil (looks like the same veil from the PS3's default background).
This could have easily been utilized as part of the story but instead it was just the "waving fog like thing" in the background.
Even in the final arena this same veil is circling around the edges, Polygon man summons other background creatures from a bright blue fog which looks somewhat similar to the veil and seems to be the same energy that surrounds each character in their respective ending.

It is noted in each characters ending by the character themselves that they feel stronger or "more prepared".
Another thing I noticed about the veil in the final fight was that it disappeared BEFORE Polygon man was destroyed.

It's clear it acts as a sort of gateway or portal but I'm not sure Polygon man was the one in control of it.
