[VCC] Nys Labs Christmas Edition ***SPOTLIGHT NOD!!!1***

Archive: 15 posts

The Factory's scoreboard warped Sackboy to a random place indeed. And now he finds himself in the silly Nys Labs, the biggest Jetpack producer and tester of Craftworld. But before he gets the "Nys Core Approved" stamp, he must do a little test ... - Part 5 of the VITA Christmas Countdown, first level by @Coxy224, next one by @samiamiamsam - 1P - lbpcentral.com 23/12/12

I had to make this real quick, in like ... Five days or something. BUT I SUCCEEDED! And I want you to have fun! :kz:
Also be on the lookout for lame jokes and stuff, I like them.

Very nice presentation, but what possessed you to require touch controls?!? This isn't a iPad we have all these buttons and knobby things...2012-12-23 15:19:00

I payed for a touch screen and I will use it. :kz:

But if it's that much of a problem, I will make an option for both .-.
It's pretty easy actually, just put your finger on the right place, at the right time.

EDIT: Oh, it was you who made that "Touch control only?!? WHY?" comment, lol.

Ha ha, yes it was me that left the comment. I would definitely replay with normal controls. Touch controls nicely augment traditional control schemes. When a device supports both I question choosing the less precise choice. IMHO rear touch is mostly horrid and its use is best limited to tapping things. Front touch can be used with a little more precision, but it's best to not use it to control the player as your fingers obscure your view of sackboy. There are plently of good and non-gratuitous uses for the touch screen. You can make whatever you like of course...2012-12-23 17:31:00

I wanted to make one with buttons first, but I thought touch would be more original. I'll see what other players think.
If I get too much complaints, then I will make an option for both buttons and touch.

its a vita level, stick with the touch controls. if anyone really wants a stick controlled jetpack level, they can find plenty on LBP2. i personally LOVE the rear touch pad. its a real point of difference. i thought it added the challenge to the level, using a stick would be too easy.

perhaps an easy compromise for anyone creating a rear touch controlled jetpack in the future would be to get the camera to zoom in a lot more, so its not so fiddly.

Hmmm, artificial challenge due to bad/fiddly controls, brilliant! Try playing with your nose on the front touch screen, now that's hardcore gaming at its finest!

I really don't get the it's a Vita argument, the Vita has dual sticks too. Also what if people don't have LBP2 and want a good non-frustrating jetback level to enjoy on the go?

Alright, you win! Button Control mode added. The level's is easyness is ridiculous now, you should be able to ace it with your eyes closed.
Playing with button control will result in getting your score zero'd, though. Enjoy the Buttonpack/Touchpack Switch!

Cool, I'll try it later today.

btw: Nice tie in with the next level ejecting the player to the scoreboard with the 2 very distinctive trees.

EDIT: Wow, what a difference. It is much easier with precise and responsive controls, I still think people won't ace their first time...but they might not care to replay since collecting points is moot. Would be better if touch controls gave a better score multiplier (global score tweaker?) but you could still get a score with the standard controls. Red button for choosing control scheme is so fitting, it totally belongs there!

I'll think about changing the zero score, but I just think it's unfair for those who actually play with touch. :/2012-12-24 16:14:00

Completely understand your position, but it's about fun, not fairness...2012-12-24 17:05:00

But getting treated in an unfair way is not fun. *Gets shot*
I'll remove the score zero-er then. (All this republishing is going to kill the popularity of my level. :S)
GO EVERYONE! GRAB ALL THE POINTS YOU CAN GET! You can keep 'em. :3

EDIT: Button Control should be able to score now ... :star:
