The LBPK Quick Tips topic!

Archive: 5 posts

Share any quick tips you have for working in create mode here. Here is one editor tip that I have not yet seen mentioned elsewhere:

You can draw fences found in the Goodies Bag>Collected Objects>Fences section in one continuous action. Select a fence object, then hold down the X button. You will continuously lay down one fence piece after another, and all pieces will be connected perfectly to each other as you move the popit cursor with your control stick. The fence piece will rotate so you can see your new continuous fence in action.

I used to place each fence piece one by one and then rotate each piece manually. Once I discovered you can "draw" these fence objects, it made working with these objects 1000 times easier!

To expand upon this... If you copy from a fence that is programmed to "stick-on-ground" and draw fencing, the line of fencing will also correctly follow the terrain. BIG time saver.2012-12-22 16:12:00

you can also 'edit pathways' and pull the 'proper' fences around as well. You can even move the fence entirely off the track! Or create a weird zigzag thing with them. I use it mainly to make entrances to shortcuts wider2012-12-22 16:24:00

In Goodies Bag> Collected Objects > Lights, you'll find two "magic" lighting objects: the Magic Lightbulb and the Magic Spotlight. These objects are invisible in play mode. I did not know that these two objects were invisible in play mode until just recently. Before then, I was wondering how to achieve lighting in my level without using visible light sources like sphere lights. I have not used regular LBP1 and LBP2 create mode much, so I am unsure if those games' create mode had "magic" light sources as well.2012-12-26 04:55:00

The Sticker Cutter: It does exist, it's just a pain to find. It cuts material to the shape of whatever sticker you want. To get to it, you select your material and just above the shapes option is the sticker cutter tool. I looked everywhere for this on the internet and NO ONE seemed to think it existed... I just happened upon it after I gave up looking.2013-01-04 12:45:00
