There are no doomsayers or preppers among today's mayan people.

Dec 21st already started about 20 hours ago at Kiribati anyway. I will be glad when soon, after the day is officially over, we can leave this behind us. That is, until the next idiot/shediot comes around 'predicting' doomsday. Actually, there already are some predictions. They probably won't be as much an internet hype though, because this time there is no calendar to back them up.		2012-12-21 05:45:00

Well.. according to experts of the Mayan calendar, it was simply an end to another cycle and beginning to a new one much like our calendar ends at Dec 31st and starts with a new one Jan 1st.2012-12-21 11:57:00

Please, it was so obvious it couldn't happen. I mean, the only thing the Mayans could do was shooting with bows and their civilisation died already long time ago.

Guys! if it's actually the end of the world just don't worry about it and the Mayans didn't say it's actually the End of the world they say that the world will proceed in to another generation! or whatever it was that don't involve killing us!. and you guys should know that! it's not possible to predict the future in times of their technology!,the end of the world will possibly be another Great World War!!! until everyone Nukes Each other!2012-12-21 21:50:00

Just think about it, if anyone believes in Mayan prophecies, whether it's about doomsday or anything else, he/she should be required to believe in Mayan mythology in general.

I can assure you that people worried about 21/12 don't believe in mayan mythology... And the few who do already knew it wasn't about the world ending anyway.		2012-12-23 02:44:00

The world is not going to end when humans say so. I can tell you this for a fact. Even if it did it wouldn't be because a human predicted it, it would be because the end happened to coincidentally occur on the day they predicted it. It's more of a guess than a prediction.

It's always amusing though to see how gullible people are, and how easy it is to strike fear in people, hence the spread of Christianity and Bible based religions based on fear of God, etc. In this sense most humans live inside a mental cage constructed by other humans.

EDIT: Exception is if the end is something known for sure, like scientists detecting a space rock heading straight towards Earth big enough to wipe us out, or similar events, but that is not what I was referring to. I was referring to long term predictions using non-factual info.		2012-12-23 19:18:00
