Lag Reduction?

Alright, I need fast help. REALLY fast.

I've been working on a level for about 3 weeks, and it HAS to be published by tomorrow. (A little tribute to this whole 2012 slammajam)

I've finally finished it, and tested it in 1-Player. It worked fine, and was really enjoyable. However, It is also important that it's multiplayer. Very crucial.

Now, the thermometer is one notch from overheating. While this is no problem in single player, the game freezes when I try to start it up with any more than two players. Even if it doesn't, the lag is so bad that emitters fail. (Including the Paintinator, which is twice as crucial as the multiplayer)

I need to know fast- is there any good method to reducing the thermometer by a large quantity? This very well may be one of my best levels yet, and any help will be GREATLY rewarded. GREATLY. As in more than just a simple naming in the credits, if necessary.

Since the extra players are putting you over the top, it sounds like you just have too much stuff going on. If you're using sackbots they are a huge thermo killer. If you have a lot of sackbots "live" at once in the level reducing this count will help big time and may be all you need to get things working. Destroy bots as a player leaves an area and emit the new ones for the next area.

It's difficult to guess what might help without seeing the level. You should check out Pookacho's thread, it may give you some ideas:

Thanks. It's a super-realistic zombie survival, so there's a few too many sackbots. There's usually only 24 sackbots at once, excluding the four players. However, making them despawn might just be the solution I need.

I'll try it now, and I WILL repay you, somehow, if it works. Even if you don't want me to.

EDIT:

The thermometer went down two notches, and functions even better in singleplayer- I have yet to test it with multiplayer, though.

While that was slightly effective, It may not be enough, yet. Do you know if the amount of tags- either the quantity or variety- has an effect on lag?
