Weather and day/night controls/Water/Smoke/fire/

Archive: 13 posts

It would be cool to control the weather like rain wind snow, Maybe tornadoes?

or day/night (I think I heard of them working on it)

Water - would be an awsome addition because it will be much more fun finding your way out from underwater ex.

Smoke would be also cool for say like a car muffler.

Fire/flames not like the option you can turn a obect into flame, but like a dragon flames type.

It would be awesome to control it although you already kind of can control the weather by using emitters. Wind would be hard to do though.. Maybe some invisible stuff emitted which pushes you back (then disappears) and a wind sound.. hm..2009-01-18 22:03:00

Yeah I know, but it dosn't really look relistic, as if there was real snow that piles up, rain that makes everything even more slippery, and realistic lightning.

Maybe tornadoes? who knows what they can do

That would be awesome to see, imagine 4 sackboys in a tornado! Although it might get heavy on the thermometer, I dunno..2009-01-18 22:18:00

I'm not counting this as "fact" just yet, but here's a quote from LittleBigPlanetoid:

The Helghast's ability to control weather systems is beautifully recreated the new weather systems tool, which can be unlocked and used in Create mode. The weather systems tool can transform a bright sunny day to a blisteringly cold arctic tundra or from the humidity of a sticky tropical forest to a torrential autumnal downpour.Source: LittleBigPlanetoid (http://www.littlebigplanetoid.com/feature/top_20_lbp_level_kit_predictions/)

These are cool predictions, I was looking at these predictions the other day.

Tornado I would say would be cool just have random stuff flying everywhere

The have used tools that we don't have yet, they will probably be released though as MM want to keep adding more complex things to LBP. Also, at the end of the REX boss, it turns suddenly to daytime when you destroy Liquid's level spammer.

Wind and gravity effects look really interesting aswell. You could use wind to make a level more difficult and gravity to make a space themed level or something like that.2009-01-19 16:56:00

You can create smoke using a rocket with 0 boost or some deadly gas if you want something other than grey. The rocket can make a "wind like" effect, thought it does not impact gameplay.

As for simulating no/less gravity, you can use the jetpack and various floaty materials. They don't have to be the outer layer if you want a different look, they can make things lighter without being the only component.

Yeah, I know about the rockets, in fact I just used one in my last level (Mirror's Edge) for steam coming of of air vents.

I don't like using jetpacks for zero-g because it is tethered and leaves a smoke trail and a sound effect. Also, to be honest, I hate floaty materials. I would much prefer a gravity slider.

Day night is almost certainly going to be implemented into the game, other than that Wind and gravity would be so cool and useful that the chance that they'll implement that is almost also at 100 (I hope =D)!2009-01-20 17:10:00
