Demon Prey 2 [Horror Shooter]

I tried to get this one done for Halloween 2012, but it's such a long project that it proved too much!

Anyway, This will be my 4th game published on LBP2 since release. This took me about 5 months of development and a few weeks prior planning.
It is the follow up to my topdown shooter Demon Prey ( http://lbp.me/v/0c7xj8 ) a not-too-popular tribute to a few of my favourite horror classics, specifically Doom.
Demon Prey isn't that popular and at times gets mixed feedback, but those that loved it's old school approach, couldn't get enough and pushed me to improve on it...well, here's that improvement!

It's still a throwback to the golden age and again, mostly at Doom. Since Doom has had a surge of interest again lately due to the Doom 3 re-release, i'm hoping the references etc, will find a better home.

I've redone everything from before and in my opinion, i have bettered the predecessor in every way. However, whether it's a good game is a question yet to be answered by you!

PLOT
The horror returns. You are the brother/partner of the rookie soldier who was forced to battle the Demons of Hell in part 1. Seeking answers, you infiltrate the enemy HQ and begin an investigation into your brothers disappearance....But all is not well. Something beyond evil has been happening here. With only a handgun at your disposal, you proceed unsure of your fate. The pulse pounding action is back! Tough as nails and better than ever! More Demons, more weapons, more intensity!
Are you tough enough?

~

I've tried to keep the plot minimum akin to the old school approach and have it told mostly through imagery ala Doom. There is an intro sequence that explains the events of the predecessor briefly, also.

INFO
Demon Prey 2 is designed, once again with the old school lovers in mind, but in an attempt to not alienate others, i have added a difficulty mode to help balance it better to different players.
Each level will be different in design to the last and will require a different strategy to that of the last. Learn them via trial and error. The same goes for the enemies, learn them to defeat them without breaking a sweat! Find the data for each Demon and learn about them.

Originally, i had a vision of 5 levels, a co-op mode, deathmatch and extra campaigns, but that would of taken way too long, so for now, you have the entire 4 level campaign. However, if the game becomes at least a little bit popular, i am going to be doing add-on content such as separate campaigns inwhich you'll play as an enemy Demon, for example!

WARNING: There is an unfortunate, unremoveable glitch in the game and that is that the thermometer can overheat during play and prevent anything being emitted thus rendering the game unplayable. However, it is entirely avoidable. Just make sure you kill Demons on the go and if you aim to retreat, do so into already cleared rooms. You should be ok on an easier difficulty, but nonetheless, do try to eliminate enemies as you go. Levels 2 and 4 require this method more so.
I could of erased this glitch by simply scaling down the levels, but i'd rather have my entire vision realised and add this message than scale down!

thankyou

EDIT I left a review and hearted the level as I got far but not all the way to the end. I liked the feel of the whole thing, reminded me much of the old Aliens film - I liked how you made it possible to interact with the terminals and overall thought it was very compelling to get further. At first I thought it strange that you didnt put the fire directions on the right stick, but I quickly got the hang of the buttons and thought it all came together very well. Good fun! Please dont forget to try my level, above

Hey mate

First thoughts... Wow long intro!! Yep I know you can play with out the intro, but heck, that's a lot of reading for a lbp game just for a background story, I'd personally have read it if I there was more I treating stuff going
On, but ..... Well, I thought I'd write this instead.... In my opinion people don't like to read more than two lines in one go in a lbp game... Just my opinion.

K, got to te game, omg, morrrreeee reading, tons of reading, too much info too soon, try introducing a little bit of info at a time, so people don't feel overwhelmed and skip through it like I did....

Ok, so NOW I'm playing nice movement to the character, nice looking enemies, scenerys all pretty nice looking too, shame I was out off by all the reading, as you quite rightly introduce the moves and game play controls as you go.... No need for the long 'contols' speech at the beginning me thinks?
Nice touch having the info of te does unlocked
Loved the two monsters fireing fire balls, nice bit of tension their!
Nice shot gun, phew, glad I had it for the dude with the big gun

Bullets some times didn't seem to shoot properly at times, especially with the rifle, they seemed to just float about in places?

K, got to part two, got pretty hard there, killed quiet a few I them, but boss got me in the end

Real nice work mate, though it was rather long, I had fun with it, and will probably return for a second go at a later date

I think you may like my tank vs aliens (link in signature) if you would be so kind to return the f4f I'd appreciate it

Keep up the good work!
