Copying LBP data?
Archive: 15 posts
I know the PS3 will copy game data to a USB drive, but what about LBP's cache data? Because that's where the DLC is stored. I'm wondering if it would be possible to say, give the MGS pack to your friend that way. (Please close this if this falls under illegal discussion). I just want to know if it's possible or not, not to discuss piracy. | 2009-01-18 15:44:00 Author: Unknown User |
No it's not possible to do that. PS3's pretty good at keeping you from copying what it doesn't want you to copy But yea if you're going over to your friend's, then sign in on his PS3 as you and download the content. This is both legal (allowed by Sony) and the only way to get your purchased LBP DLC onto his PS3. You can do this up to 5 times (with most DLC from the PS Store, not just LBP DLC). | 2009-01-18 15:49:00 Author: KAPBAM Posts: 1348 |
When you mean sign on to his PS3, do you mean using his PS3 as a media server or something? Edit: Ok, nevermind. So if you're saying I sign in to my PSN on his system then I'll get 1 out of 5 free DLC downloads? Does any game tax the 5 download limit or just LBP? Do you mean if you sign in and load the game, the DLC in the shop will be free if he has that content on his system? | 2009-01-18 16:29:00 Author: Unknown User |
Ok let me try to explain this simply You go on his PS3, sign in with your PSN. You go to your downloads in the PS Store and download whatever you want from your account onto his PS3. Then he will be able to use this content on his PS3 on all accounts. Just ry it out when you get to your friend's house, you'll see it's really simple. | 2009-01-18 16:45:00 Author: KAPBAM Posts: 1348 |
Make a new user on his PS3, click sign up to PSN. Click, use existing account, sign in with your account. Then, log on to the playstation store, and click on view download list (in the top right corner). Find the DLC and hit x, it'll download. Then you'll have used 2/5 downloads(yours and his), assuming you haven't done this method with anyone else. | 2009-01-18 17:23:00 Author: DrunkMiffy Posts: 2758 |
Thats so cool! You can do this for every singel DLC? So if i with my 3 friends go to one ps3 (3 accounts etc blah blah) then we will have the MGS pack on our own ps3 Is that DLC stored online on you account? | 2009-01-24 17:41:00 Author: Dexist Posts: 570 |
Here's a quote from frankysteinmark3 in the "Told Mm How To Do Glitch" thread: I'm just going to copy my game data and save from this version of the game, and keep it... just in case I'm feeling... 3d-ey I asked about that but didn't get an answer. How is this possible? | 2009-09-03 15:30:00 Author: Unknown User |
He means he's copying his save from the current version of the game, i.e. from a time when the 3D glitch was still available. So theoretically if it is patched he can just delete the game data (not advisable) and update to the update we are on now, and continue to make 3d stuff on that save. I've done it with the cow glitch, it works. | 2009-09-03 15:33:00 Author: ARD Posts: 4291 |
I think they mean they'll use an older version of the game without signing in when the 3D update arrives. But really it's not affected by the save game, it's counted as DLC so... that wouldn't work to play an older version of LBP but wouldn't matter anyway. As long as you don't sign in, the game won't update. Awesome bump! | 2009-09-03 15:36:00 Author: S-A-S--G-U-N-R Posts: 1606 |
PSN let's you download your stuff on 5 different PS3s. This means that yes the LBP DLC is shearable. . | 2009-09-03 17:48:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |
Just to clarify, GAMESHARING IS NOT CONDONED BY SONY. Apparently they have changed there stance according to their updated Terms Of Service for the Playstation Network. The multiple downloads is for people with multiple PS3s. I, for example, have two. | 2009-09-03 20:21:00 Author: BSprague Posts: 2325 |
BSprague!? Why do you have 2!?!? Just in-case you have 8 friends over so you can have a 8 player lan party? But yeah, I wouldn't recommend sharing your DLC or PSN Store games, because you only have 5 times to re-download it. And if Sony messes up with their next firmware that deletes all your DLCs from LBP. And if you already shared your DLC to 5 other friends... you're screwed.... The 5 downloads are not just for people with multiple PS3s but for that frustrating occasion when you loose anything you bought off the store (which can happen through patches, system crashes, formatting... and so on). I wish i had 2 PS3s.... then i can paint the other one Pink | 2009-09-04 12:36:00 Author: snowyjoe Posts: 509 |

It's not 5 downloads. It's 5 activation. Meaning 5 machines. You can erase or lose your stuff on one machine and redownload it again eternally. . | 2009-09-04 15:37:00 Author: RangerZero Posts: 3901 |
BSprague!? Why do you have 2!?!?One in the living room area and one in my room. One's mainly for Blu-Ray movies though. | 2009-09-04 20:41:00 Author: BSprague Posts: 2325 |
