Hullooo again everyone! Welcome to Round 3 of the Tri-sack Contest! This time we're testing your playing skills. Check out the details below. You can find Round 1 here (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=76328-LBPC-Community-Spotlight-Ep-100-Celebrations-Triplesack-Contest!) and Round 2 here (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=76415-Community-Spotlight-Episode-100-Celebrations-Triplesack-Contest-Round-2). The overall scoring and entry rules from the earlier Rounds are repeated too.

The Information Desk

http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/image.php?u=1752&dateline=1351169290

How does this work?

So guys...after all the times you've been here, I want you to prove me how tough you are and how well you put to good use all the hard work the Spotlight Crew did for your enjoyment.
I want to see how badass you are, but being cool is something you achieve only being awesome in more than one skill.
I want to see how fast your brain cogs work to solve shady clues, I want you to prove me that your mind is as quick as your eyes and I want you to show me how your hands can perform incredible tasks.
So there will be 3 different challenges that will await you.
So, if you want to prove your might and get a nice reward, you must work hard.
I created a scoring system that will award only the ones of you that are more consistent.

How do I enter?

Each round will have its own entry requirements and rules explained separately when it is launched. There will also be an entry form for each round for you to fill in and return to us. When you've completed all 3 rounds, send the three forms via pm to Hubbie by midnight GMT on Sunday 30th December. Please send ALL 3 FORMS IN ONE SINGLE PM at the end of the contest. Your answers will be checked by the spotlight and contest crews, scored in accordance with the system explained below and the results posted as soon as we can manage, what with all the mince pies and partying to be done.

Again, answers in a SINGLE PM containing all the forms, multiple PMs won't be considered for the final score.

Scoring system

Ready for some maths?
Without spoiling the rules of each challenge in advance, I can spill that the first 2 challenges will require you to do a certain number of tasks.
For each SINGLE task you complete and prove, you'll get 1 (ONE) point.
Completing a challenge will net you 3 (THREE) additional points as a bonus to your efforts.
These points will be used as a multiplier for the score you'll get in the 3rd challenge.
So the final score will be determined by the points you net in challenge 1, let's call it "x", plus the points you acquire in challenge 2, let's call it "y", then multiplied by the score you gain in challenge 3, let's call it "z"

The final formula is
(x+y)*z

So you got some pretty easy maths that can lead to unexpected results.

What Prizes are available?

There are three prizes up for grabs, as detailed below. The winners will be asked to choose their prize from the list, with 1st place taking first choice, 2nd place second choice, and so on, until all three prizes are claimed.

As well as the prizes detailed below, the 1st Place winner will be awarded with the LBPCentral Contest Winner Pin and an EU code for a beta vest, kindly donated by a Contest Crew member! If the winner already has a pin or code or is not in the EU, then it will go to the second placed player and so on.

Prizes:

One Year Subscription to PS Plus
PSN Card: ( ?35 / $50 / ?40 )
PSN Card: ( ?25 / $40 / ?20 )

NB: The amounts listed for the PSN cards are so calculated to attempt to be as fair to those from differing countries as we can. We hope that they should work out to be about equal in value when redeemed in the PSN Store.

When is the deadline?

Midnight on Sunday 30th December 2012. Any entries received after this point will not be eligible for the competition. Sorry about that, but it has to end at some point.

Round Three: Spotlight Team vs. the World!

http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m489/psnrialrees/champ.png

So this is it, the final round! This is where you get to show your mad skillz. It's also the round where you get to take on the Spotlight Crew. They play a stack of levels every week, but can they actually PLAY!? Well, we?re about to find out.

This round you have to play the following spotlighted levels and post the highest score you can. The Spotlight Crew (or some of them at least) will do the same.

Mines of Boreas (http://lbp.me/v/g8980d) by Arastoph
Extreme Full-Auto Pinball (http://lbp.me/v/b9s63w) by ThirdAxis01
DARKAURA (Vertical Scrolling Shooter) (http://lbp.me/v/g8mkkq) by Headman-1000

You have until the deadline on Sunday, 30th December to get the highest possible score in all three levels.
Your score in all the levels will then be added up and multiplied by the number of points you?ve gained in rounds 1 and 2 (so you might want to get onto identifying those levels)!

In addition, for every spotlighter whose total score you manage to beat you gain an extra one point to add towards your multiplier and for every spotlighter who beats you, there?s a one point deduction from that multiplier.

Spotlighters forced into volunteering to join in: Biorogue, Rialrees, Fireblitz95, Deadmn, WESFUN
shropshirelass, Mr Fusion (he promised, I've got it in writing!)

LET BATTLE COMMENCE!

How do I enter?

Copy the answer sheet below and fill it in with your answers, including links to lbp.me photos proving your score, unless you?re in the top 20 on the scoreboard. As we said, we want you to submit the answers to all 3 rounds in one go at the end of the contest so hang on to your answer sheet and submit it with the answers to rounds 1 and 2 by PM to Hubbie by the deadline of 30th December.

So, yes, well, there you go. Your chance to show how much better you are at playing levels than the Spotlight Crew!

I have to say, though, that some of the newer recruits have a few skillz of their own and fire, Wes and Deadmn have been out there already posting some scores for you to have a go at!

Bio is pretty hot stuff at pinball too (or should that be a legend, Bio?) and Ria is filled with a burning desire to show Joey how VERY wrong his assessment of her skills is. Me, I’m just hoping not to embarrass myself too much. So a pretty formidable line up then...

I have a feeling this post should have been a bit more triumphalist but I don’t do triumphalist well and the rest of the Crew have disappeared! Lol!

Anyway, good luck in this final round and remember you can boost your score hugely by picking up even a few points in the first two rounds to make a decent multiplier.

So what are you waiting for, get playing!

Wow, Goranilic clearly means business. He's really blazing a trail here. Respect!

Don't forget though that it's the score over the three rounds that counts...unless you're in the Spotlight Crew, of course. Oops! Still, you guys don't mind if we put Episode 101 on hold to concentrate on this do, you? Good.

Like lass said, don't worry if you've missed some parts - play and post your scores, and you can always go back and do other parts of the contest to multiply your total - you have until the end of the month! PLENTY of time to get a respectable score going!

As for my scores.... Ahem.

*Cough* Ladies and gentlesacks. I come in to this here thread to prove that I am better than Shropshirelass. (If she posts a better score than me, I am SO playing again!)

Current highscores:

Now then, give me your best shot.

thats a pretty darn good score! going to be very hard to beat!
i have hit 95,00 on it now and that is only because of true fluke!!
To cut a long story short at the part where you are shot up the ice slide by a bounce pad towards a hanging grab sponge which pulls down the platform for later, i managed to somehow swing from the sponge into the candle to the right and use it to get on to the top of the platform and miss out 1/5 of the level! (the fire made me bounce upwards with the usual animation)

like i say fluke!!

EDIT:

Ria made up a table of spotlighter scores which I've added to the OP so you can keep track of where we are. When a few more people start joining in and posting their scores (optional btw), we'll add a table of scores for the rest of the world.

well it is a shame i can't enter as i missed out on the other rounds but i thought these scores may spur the current spotlighters who are taking part to try and better themselves even more! Come on! It can be done! Yes even you fireblitz! you can improve on your score even though you have now played my level 40+ times!

Extreme Full Auto Pinball - 303,350
Mines of Boreas - 95,657 (pure luck!)
DarkAura - 3,521,100

You're not going to let a low ranked fellow such as myself get the better of people of your calibur now... are you?

Every single point is important + ace. Tried your candle way, but to much dying to achieve it. Seems to me with "candle way" it's possible to make over 100 K.

oh, also if you enjoyed this level i hope you will enjoy the next one in the series which is more of a sci fi based setting (thanks to the vita content) which i am currently working on. Stay tuned!

Well, I still have no idea how it happened but the pinball table went slightly mad last night and chucked loads of points my way. I ended up with a score of 423,450. It's a complete fluke and leaves me feeling slightly embarrassed but there we go. Bio is away right now but I'm picturing him going apoplectic when he hears...

In other news, it looks as if one intrepid person has managed to complete the scavenger hunt level trail. Kudos to them!

EDIT: Oops, this is what happens when you start doing something else mid-post! Sorry Mr F, I missed your post! You're a hero and that's a great score in the shooter! Thank you so much for taking part.

Actually it's probably a badge of honour to be terrible at pinball. I'm terrible too and in no way have I sold my soul to get a decent score..honestly...

Oops. I forgot about this. *mew

With the cross controller pack + over 4 new games I got on Christmas. Drawing and also stressing over my level projects this month i just never really remembered this contest.

And to be honest the rules of this contest seem confusing to me. I really think you guys should go more simple with these things. but that may be just my opinion.

Hmm I'll look over whatever this contest is today & see if i want to enter or not and if I have enough time to enter. *mew

Edit: ...Um Just what am I suppose to do exactly? there are like 4 of these similar topics?? can somebody be kind enough to tell me what it is I should do? No way am I gonna read all that text on all 4 topics.

OK, well, the Triplesack contest has 3 rounds. The first is "Where's Hubbie" which involves identifying levels from photos and recreating the photos yourself. The second is a scavenger hunt through a series of levels following clues. The third is a high score contest in which you have to get the highest score you can in 3 different levels: a platformer, pinball level and a shooter. It would be a tall order starting now but not impossible. If there are any others wanting to make a last ditch effort we could post some more hints, maybe. ???2012-12-29 19:23:00

Meh I give up. And here are a bit of my thoughts.

As for round 3... Well I never found trying to get highscores fun anyways. that's not why i play games. I don't find it entertaining trying to get a highscore & to push off somebody else's score. I don't enjoy trying to beat other people at things in general normally. but that's just how i feel personally.

As for round 2 hmm. I'm not much of a detective, so while i maybe could figure it all out given enough time, but i don't have time here.. so yeah. >.> ..+ personally i don't find it much fun, And to me fun is what is most important when it comes to games. *mew

As for round 1. I knew what 9 of the 18 levels were & can write them all down and i even took a pic in the right place in the 9 of them i found. but I don't think that's enough to be worth entering this contest with so yeah, sorry.

Honestly after trying the whole contest for a bit now. I'm not very surprised why not many people are entering. And the prizes are not the problem IMO. *mew

Never mind. Thanks for trying anyway, fume. I wouldn't worry about feedback on the contest. It's a one off for the Spotlight 100th Episode and I don't think we'll do anything like this again.

Well, ladies and gentlesacks, the deadline is approaching fast. You only have today and tomorrow left in which to make a last gallant effort to win.

I have to say that at this point there are more prizes on offer than there are contestants...

LOL, Wes, no, sadly no prizes for the Spotlight Crew, although I'm sure Taffey will lay on some extra cookies in the Vault. Those are some great scores too and I'll update the OP just for the record.

Yes, the contest is now over...

Thanks to everyone who posted in the thread and took part even if they didn't end up putting in an entry. I certainly had a blast doing the high score challenge with the rest of the crew.

We should be able to post the result shortly

THE RESULTS!

http://tivohd1099.photobucket.com/albums/g385/goranilic/LBP/triplesack%20R1/APhoto_39_zpsf40b906f.jpg?t=1356626766

Well, there may not have been many entries but goranilic and RAZZORWIRE did a fantastic job! They both did amazingly well but goranilic’s phenomenal performance in managing to identify nearly all the levels in the first two rounds and managing to beat almost all comers in the score challenge meant that he prevailed in the end and is our Triplesack champion!

The scoring system was pretty complicated and so I’ve put the details in a spoiler for anyone who wants to check...

Thanks again to the two contestants and to everyone who joined in in any way, including the Spotlight Crew who were all great sports for agreeing to be part of the score challenge. I certainly had a lot of fun out of it

Finally, I’d particularly like to thank the 11 creators who agreed to edit their levels to include the scavenger hunt clues and OmegaSlayer and thespacemonkey187 for setting it all up. You guys all rock. I’m not sure when the clues will be removed so anyone who wants to track them down may still have a chance. I’m tempted to do a play through myself.

For those who are curious the answers to rounds 1 and 2 are in another spoiler. In fact since he got nearly 100%, I’ve just copied goranilic’s entry! The only level he missed was photo no. 3 in Round 1 which was from OH NO!!! THE PRINCESS!!! World 4: Big Island by CaptainCowboyHat.

Razzorwire:

Mines of Boreas: 87,351 (beat 5 spotlighters, beaten by 2 so bonus of 3)
Extreme Full-Auto Pinball: 333,380 (beat 5 spotlighters, beaten by 1 so bonus of 4)
DARKAURA: 3,985,600 (beat all 6 spotlighters so bonus of 6)

Total : 4,406,331
Multiplier: R1: 15, R2: 9, R3: bonus of 13 = 37
Final Total : 163,034,247

Goranilic:

Mines of Boreas: 97,724 (beat all 7 spotlighters so bonus of 7)
Extreme Full-Auto Pinball: 531,690 (beat all 6 spotlighters so bonus of 6)
DARKAURA: 3,222,900 (beat 5 spotlighters, beaten by 1 so bonus of 4)

Total : 3,852,314
Multiplier: R1: 17, R2: 11 + bonus of 3, R3: bonus of 17 = 48
Final Total : 184,911,072

SECOND CHALLENGE (Scouring Craftworld):
# pictures: http://s1099.beta.photobucket.com/user/goranilic/story/6599

1. *Sackie of Arabia* PART I - Sackrabah By Fr0d0_FragginS79

Word to the wise, old boy. Never get drunk when you're down in the catacombs ! Took me hours to find my way out of the bally place. Ouch, i shouldn't have punched that wall down there either.

2. The Ancient Catacombs By DrunkenFist_Lee

Dash it all, lost again ! I was sure I'd spotted a temple through the trees but can i find it now ? No ! And there's no one around to help me. .... I'm so confused ... Arrr ! I be 2009, land lubber! What ye expect ?

3. The Lost Temple of the Trees (Part 1) By ShamgarBlade

Ah, I love taking a walk at night and looking up at the stars. Ah, beautiful, there's Milky Way. Oops, i just tripped over a stray cat ! Bally thing !

4. Galaxy Ops [Platformer] By Alley_Cat_8633

Off for a spot of fishing now. I've won trophies for fishing in my time, I'll have you know. But I'm an ex fisherman now, make that a double ex, actually.

5. Glub The Guppy: Trench Trouble By XTrophx

Golly, this temple is a real Aladdin's cave of treasure ! I better pinch myself three times. I might be dreaming !

6. I Dream of Genie: The Bottle By tripple_sss

You son of a gun, you did it ! You helped me restore what was lost and escape ! I had a frightful jolly time making a big colourful mess too !

7. Miss 'n Colours (FAST PLATFORMER) (1 PLAYER) By SonofaSack96

Egged on by a chum, I decided to do a bit of planet hopping in space. I had a bit of a brush with law but it was all a missunderstanding. I don't even like sausages, dash it.

8. Space Police: Landfills of Mars [1P] By THe__EGG

Hmmm, space exploration turned out to be a nasty business. I got myself signed up once again for a frightful mission, when i'm not the killer type at all.

9. Space Assassins 2 By Ungreth

Brr, bit of a chill wind blowing ! And I don't like the look of that bird at all. Think I'd better get out of this valley before he eats me up, like a bit of sushi.

10. Stormy Valley (platformer) by yu-kamone

Ha Ha ! I may not be young any more but I've still got the rhythm ! I can still follow a beat and get my fingers dancing ! Funny music they have in Italy these times though, what !

Well done for winning (and entering) matey, an unforeseen New Years trip interrupted my attempt (am still away but New Years Day slob-fest ftw) but I wouldn't have given you a run for your money looking at the results.
