Occluder Sheets - My Understanding

I actually posted this in some random thread, but chances are it will get buried and not enough people will benefit from it. My knowledge of occluders is from the FarCry 2 Map editor and may not be perfectly accurate in LBPK. But my experience with LPBK reinforces this understanding. The occluder sheet makes all objects on the other side of it invisible when looking through it. It's used in 3-D editors to greatly enhance performance because the game engine doesn't need to process all the objects at once. I place it within the terrain and objects, so it isn't noticeable visually, but still improves performance. Let me explain: Objects on the other side of large objects like walls or huge terrain features like mountains can't be seen by the player. So by adding an occluder box within that structure the game also doesn't need to process those objects - enhancing performance. I don't know how effective at enhancing performance it is in LBPK, though.
