Lbpk getting worse needs update!

Archive: 12 posts

I have gotten at least 8 freezes yesterday while playing online, pardon my rant but UFG needs to fix this I don't think they will. This is outrageous ive bought the game on launch day and in total I've had about 50 in game freezes. The chat is broken everything is broken. I guess we can wait til 2013 and if no update I think we got abandoned :/. What will you guys do if no update turns up?

Sincerely, a P'O fan

LBP Karting isn't getting worse. Yeah, the game freezes sometimes. Yes, it is a real pain when it happens. "Everything" isn't broken though. I'm sure that UFG is working on a patch. Have you ever done any software engineering before? Any coding? One misplaced digit or one faulty variable can cause even a simple program to stop functioning. One thing that many gamers tend to disregard is the incredible amount of intricate, complex, complicated work that has to go into making a modern game. Some AAA titles take teams of hundreds of people to create. Releasing a patch to fix a problem isn't a simple as "just do it," and not all problems can be foreseen and predicted in beta. Look at Diablo III. Blizzard did extensive beta testing with D3, but when It released the game was a mess. Why? Because there were so many people playing, and such a strain put on the engine and on the servers, that they will find more bugs in the first 24 hours of a game's release than they will in thousands of hours of beta testing.

Be patient, and lay off the doom and gloom.

I wouldn't say it's gotten worse, but it hasn't got much better. I've had less hard freezes, but it could just be pure luck (by the sound of it). I really wish we didn't have to go through verification stages for patches though.

I will say it wouldn't kill UFG to let us know what's actually being worked on. I hate when companies go silent in the gaming world, but they pay attention so that's good. Some companies like Kanomi don't even do that much.

Had a semi-profile corruption last night just from trying to select a saved object. Story mode and story's collected items resetted on me, everything else was left in tack, but now i'm uploading backups to my planet just in case. I had a old backup on another profile, but i'm hesitant on using that since i only lost story, and it might override all the update stuff i still have. And sometimes mine and lob powerups don't work (custom and story), to me even as a creator and not a player, i agree it has gotten worse. Just cross your fingers and backup your stuff in every way possible2012-12-15 22:18:00

I agree that all companies should be more like Gearbox or Blizzard, and would keep an open line of communication with the community through forums and twitter. Transparency is key.

I'd be willing to bet that another patch will come out this Tuesday, or next Tuesday at the latest. I could be wrong, though.

thank you very much for that advice! I've lost my LBP vita savegame a week ago by a normal system update and i guess i "couldn't take" another crashed savegame^^

The topic creator obviously has no idea the amount of work that goes into maintaining a game like LBPK. Realize the game is still very new (just over one month ago since its launch) and bugs will be ironed out as they are addressed.

The best way to follow LBPK development is here: https://getsatisfaction.com/littlebigplanet/products/littlebigplanet_littlebigplanet_karting

This is the same site where the v1.02 patch for LBPK was announced after it went live.

Well to me, I haven't had much problems with LBPK, other than 3 freezes since I got it. Maybe it's because I have an older PS3?2012-12-16 05:28:00

Microsoft have been doing this for years with Windows and most of their other software. It's not unusual. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QrwO8b9iq34)

Budget and deadlines. Plus we players can find bugs faster than beta testing can. You still do not understand how much work it is. If they tried to fix every bug in the game they will end up delaying this game for months. Every video game out there has bugs. They fix the more important and serious ones first.2012-12-17 07:55:00

Why is it every time this thread is bumped, I seem to lose 2 hours or more of work due to a crash. Stop bumping this coincidence machine!

Crap... now I'm going to do it to myself :<
