Gravity shifter

Hi everyone,

I'm wanting to create a level where the gravity shifts from floor to ceiling with the push of the L button, but i need help with the logic.

All help is appreciated, thanks!

hi, i would try just using a movie camera and a player sensor and just flip the cameras view upside down, you know you trigger the player sensor and the cxamera flips, just set the movie camera infinate hold time and use another one to turn it off.2012-12-15 15:58:00

What you'll want to do is use a Sackbot to control the player. If you don't know how to do this, there'll be tons of tutorials.
Then....
Get out a two port selector.
Hook the L button of the controllinator on the Sackbot up to the bottom of the Selector, where it says 'cycle.'
Get out two gyroscopes, and turn one 180 degrees, so it points upside-down. Adjust the settings to your liking.
Also get out one mover that is set to move upwards, local-space on 'off.
This mover should be hooked up to port two of the selector, and so should the gyroscope that is pointing down.

I think this is it, but you might need some jump logic when it's upside down. Also, if you plan on killing the player, or having them die, you'll need to create a checkpoint. Tutorials on this are everywhere.

Edit: Upon reading your post more closely, I realized that what I did is merely similar, not exactly what you wanted. Still relevant though!

EDIT:

ok, so ive been working on the logic for my sackbot, and here's the logic i have so far

now the problems im having are

1: the sackbot floats on the ceiling instead of actually walking

2: he doesnt stop moving when you let go of the stick

3: he is facing the wrong way when walking. so, if walking right, he's facing left.

It's difficult to get walking upside down to look and work well. You'll have to create your own jump, such that when they press X they are propelled downward by a mover and then the mover stops and they return to the ceiling.

The problem where sackpeople don't have friction on the ceiling is a bit more difficult to solve. I tried to solve it with an impact sensor that is right below the sackbots feet that will sense when it is supposed to be walking on something. Then I turn dampening on when the player is not trying to walk. I'm not sure if that is the best way to do this, but it works alright.
