Sunset Islands Test

https://karting.lbp.me/v/28p9 ^ Level Link This track is almost complete, but I'm looking to get some people on it that haven't seen it before to try and bug test it. It's just a standard race, but the track itself is the water. You'll see some sandbars just below the waters, those act as reset points and are part of the track. Getting out of the water on to a beach should reset in all areas if you go too far up them. There is also a sunken ship, that can be drove on from a proper angle (theres jet packs on it and bubbles). I'm looking for any weird resetting issues. Ocasionally your kart might pop into the air on a sand bar, this is just due to how the forcefield meshes with it during its bobbing to simulate floating and while regrettable also just adds to the choppy water effect I think. Any other feedback on the level I can get before finalizing the decor is also appreciated. Thanks in advance ^^ | 2012-12-14 08:31:00 Author: IvoYaridovich Posts: 88 |
Recent differences aside, queued. EDIT: For the most part everything was pretty smooth. I did however get stuck drifting off track to the left on one of the turns. I'm having a hard time pin pointing it from memory (I didn't think to snapshot it) it was right before you turn right and sort of near the cave. I'm not sure what happened and it only happened once. If I remember correctly, around the same area you can cut through the track (sort of, on a right turn you can go through straight), I don't know if this is intended as a short cut or not. And I think I saw a waterfall on fire, that was a little strange. I did not have any issues with resetting but I didn't die either, or suicide because I forgot. | 2012-12-14 23:58:00 Author: anarchowolf Posts: 194 |
Oh this stupid level is really starting to drive me up a wall! I saved it last night, after checking EVERYTHING. Went to bed. Woke up, loaded it, AND EVER SINGLE STICKER IS NOW GONE. Thought it was a fluke, went back to pod. Tried to load it again, this time Stickers were gone, AND THE TERRAIN RESET >.< I'm about to throw this thing out of a window! Gah >.< I managed to get it to load with just the stickers missing again but thats still hours of work undone because I SAVED WITH EVERYTHING CORRECT AND THE GAME DECIDED TO MAKE THINGS GO MISSING >.< | 2012-12-16 08:30:00 Author: IvoYaridovich Posts: 88 |
The stickers really need some fixing done. I spent around 4+ hours constantly putting a temple together, stickered the entire thing up to my liking and BAM, loaded it and only some showed, others flickered and some even went in odd directions. At one point they turned into an 8-bit pixel glitch! | 2012-12-16 10:14:00 Author: anarchowolf Posts: 194 |
I've played one of the Sunset Islands levels and I really enjoyed the intricate underwater topography and the time-of-day changes. I've had the sticker vanishing issue happen to me once when I was making War of the Sackworlds, but I did not use that many stickers in the first place, so it was a maximum of 10 minutes work gone. I notice the "8-bit" pixellated sticker issue occurs when you paste a sticker across two different objects. | 2012-12-16 18:48:00 Author: JudgeSpear Posts: 122 |
This makes me happy that I'm not sticker-crazy...yet, but decorations are the same way. If you save a custom object that has mirrored decorations on it, then when you copy it, select and place it from the pop-it, or spawn it from a weaponator the mirrored decorations go back to their original position and are thus flipped and/or upside down. So annoying. As for this level, I enjoyed it for the most part. It looks great, but it's screaming for shortcuts and branches. With some of the turns, It felt more natural to go a certain way, but then I was told that I was out of bounds. There was an arch somewhere that fooled me into thinking I was supposed to drive under it. I think it was towards the end. It'd be nice if some breadcrumbs were placed there. It looks really nice though. I love the hovercrafts. | 2012-12-16 18:50:00 Author: Remy Posts: 252 |
As for this level, I enjoyed it for the most part. It looks great, but it's screaming for shortcuts and branches. The track branches in 4 different places >.> and I'm not a fan of big shortcuts, because then people always take the shortcut once they find it.
