I think it will be $4.99...pretty good deal.

"The LittleBigPlanet 2: Cross-Controller Pack will be available via download on PSN Tuesday, December 18th for $4.99, and requires a PlayStation 3, a copy of LittleBigPlanet 2 and a PS Vita."

YoHohooho~ still haven't gotten my PSvita yet. :0 ..Guess I'm gonna just have to play the pack with a friend of mine for now in order to collect everything.

But man they sure take their time with releasing info for LBP content lately. I mean we only get info 1 week before the pack comes out nowadays? been over half a year since any other info came out for it. :S

I Hope the pack is good with great content. Deco ETC. *mew

Hey! That's cool.

Now I just need to know what other kind of content is to come with the pack. Should be good, given it's space-pirate themed and that's two kinds of "up my alley", but some hard numbers and pictures would be solid.

I wish I knew what was included in the pack as well. I doubt they'll include materials from LBP Vita like many guessed in the past. We probably won't see the "Effects" material at all And I sincerely doubt we'll be able to dephysicalize objects or do any of the other cool LBP Vita things.

But hey, at least this pack will allow us to screw around and make some cool RPGs with inventory management on the vita screen. We get our own personal WiiU game

Well, we do have on official record from Steven that, among other things, the pack will include a "highly requested feature". No idea what exactly that is but I have plenty of guesses.2012-12-12 18:55:00

Awesome, just in time for finals week!

Any word on if it will include trophies? Either way I'm happy there was finally a release date announced.

Also, anyone else surprised how cheap this pack is?! Wasn't the Move pack like 10 bucks?

Yeah the price surprised me too. Maybe they realize that LBP2 is too old to give us overpriced dlc. It will probably have trophies for sure just like all DLC packs.

Most requested feature huh? I'd venture to guess that it's probably the memorizer. I personally wish it was the effects material.

Memorizer would be EPIC!

My guess though would be separate player cameras for co op, since the Vita game play already puts emphasis on separate views, and this might even be needed for some scenarios, like traveling between screens.

Ham and Cheese Dispenser, I knew it!

Thanks, Stephen, for considering our stomachs as we take on these marathon-like create sessions. You are too kind. Can you confirm or deny that it will have a "toast" setting?

Whoa, we get bread too?!?

I wasn't too interested in this DLC, but for $5 you can't really go wrong. I will need to seriously re-think where my next level is created once I know more about what's included...so many platforms...so little time.

And all of the tools are brand new. Only a week to go

What about playing the DLC levels, it will be like the move pack right? One person can have vita others just ps3.(because that's what I'm assuming/hoping for(no vita))

any way you could detail the 7 new trophies? (I'm mostly trying to find out if playing with someone else who has a Vita will be enough for me to get my list back to 100%, not really in the market for a Vita myself)2012-12-13 18:54:00

I noticed that there are 7 trophies in this pack while there are 11 in the Move Pack and Muppets Pack. Hopefully that's not an indication of less levels or content.

When you think about it there's almost always these trophies:
1. Ace every level
2. Collect all prize bubbles
3. Complete 25 community levels that use the new tools
4. Complete all the tutorials
5. Publish a level utilizing cross-controller

And the others probably have something to do with the story mode(beating the boss, etc.). Take this with a grain of salt though, these are just trophies that seem to be very common in LBP DLC and in the main games themselves.

That looks neat. I'm going to guess it's used to send Sackboy back and forth between the Vita and PS3. If so, that's a pretty nice little tool. If not... what the heck is it!?

Well, now we know how the player is transferred from one screen to the other - via those sumptuous portals.

And that is definitely a "twisty" link.

Anywho! It'll be fun to escort my vita-less friends through these levels. Maybe something'll happen.

Is it just me, or does Sackboy look more like the Vita one(bigger head, short body) than the LBP2 one in that picture?

Sackboys head was fixed in LBP Vita before it released. Sackboy looks the same in both now.

Also, loving that portal thing. I hope it can be remotely controlled like most other content.

I'm going to venture a guess and say the new DLC won't feature anything from LBP Vita as Gruntos stated that everything will be Brandnew.

I wonder if you can make Vita optional levels? Like a level where a Vita isn't required, but if you have you you can access a secret area or get a different HUD or even just alternate controls! I wonder if anyone will try to make a level utilizing both the Vita and Move controller, if that's even possible? What kind of games could they make? Will using the Vita take up a lot of the thermometer, or possibly make the thermo bigger because you're using more hardware to create levels? Will you be able to make certain sounds come out from the Vita like the Wiimote?

My mind is going in so many directions. So many awesome directions .

It'll be just like the move levels. They'll require you to have a vita connected to play those levels. But you can easily just slip in a vita enabled section without changing the requirements to start the level. It should be user controlled.

The story levels provided in the DLC will most likely require that at least one player has a vita connected at all times in order to access them.

True, good point. It would be awesome if it was a Gravity Rush level pack, you know since the game is on the Vita.

One thing I absolutely love about LBP is how much the games are supported for so long! I thought the Muppets pack would be the last one for LBP2, and here we are a year later with yet another one coming out.

I'm really curious if and when LBPK will have level packs as DLC, it would be awesome to drive through some Disney themed environments. But that's getting off topic.

Thats because there no PS3 LBP platfromer coming out, LBP2 been annouced 1.5y after LBP1 killing it's DLC devlopment, LBP2 has nearly 2 years

I hope the characters in this pack's story are not just sackbots with the basic sackbot costume on them again like they were in the MovePack. I wish they did something different too like a prehistoric theme (which hasn't made it to a REAL LBP game yet...) or even a Christmas themed pack since xmas is right around the corner.

But eh.. the community makes great christmas levels! Can't wait to play them this year!

EDIT:

Sadly I doubt this... In every DLC pack we've had so far, there's only been sackbots with costumes(Toy Story, Muppets, etc.). I wish they would create original characters too but we'll find out soon enough

I think LBP Vita did a great job giving us some new themes to travel through. While the DLC screenshots look fun, they aren't very colorful or heartwarming. I want some wacky animated alien creatures, some new enemies, and a new exotic planet that we have no idea about.

Those things could be in here, but so far it looks like you're platforming through a spaceship solving puzzles... What really made my sister and I playing the first LBP fun was how crazy everything looked and you had no idea what to expect. Everything seemed so new and fresh. I'm going to wait until I play this to give a judgement(and I actually am excited), but that's just my 2 cents. Some newer LBP levels look a bit too serious and mature from the game's original vibe.

Im sure if the story involves searching for space treasure, we're gonna get to go outside the ship C: Also can't wait for the music, listening to all the new tracks is one of the best parts; hope they've had Richard Jacques back to do the music!2012-12-17 02:17:00

Theres plenty of stickers, sounds, music pieces, objects, materials, decorations, and some costumes to. Don't worry!

And you only need a Vita to use one tool, the rest will function fine on just a PS3

No new instruments, but there are three new musical tracks included in this pack and a new sound object too.

Well too bad

Probably yes and as always it will be free since LBP2 can't block tweaks based on DLC, we might have something new in new update too it's space themed so it might be interesting

So not all the tools that are available with this pack are for vita use or creating vita cross control levels? does this mean the tools are available to everyone who doesn't have vitas as well?2012-12-17 23:07:00

I'm personally hoping for a cool female costume with a very little waist/torso. one of my level series's female main character really could use it. nothing that's out atm is quite right.. but i always have very specific needs so it's highly unlikely i'll get parts that i'll want. :S *mew

As mentioned twice already in this thread...

And you only need a Vita to use one tool, the rest will function fine on just a PS3

i saw that already so less of the attitude oh high and mighty! jeez...
what i meant to say is are they going to be FREE to those who don't have a vita? GruntosUK does not confirm that part.
There is no way i am buying a pack just for the tools wheni can't play the rest of the content, it would be a crazy waste!

Arastoph, I am sorry I misunderstood your poorly phrased question, alas my mind reading abilities have been on the fritz of late; I blame solar flares. Since the move pack wasn't "free" to people without move I wouldn't expect anything different here. As to whether you need to play through with someone with a Vita to unlock the content, that is a good question. Also it's only 5 bucks for a bunch of create stuff, well worth the price if its at all interesting, the move pack was twice that...2012-12-18 00:39:00

Sure, if you have the hardware. Since I have a Vita and am excited about anything that helps distinguish it from a shiny rock I'm happy about this dlc. We now know there's only 1 Vita specific feature...I'm not sure if the folks in charge of this stuff are just uncaring or cruel...maybe both?

I think you misunderstand what has been said. Its been said that only of the new tools REQUIRES a vita to be used. Think this is more like how the paint tool requires a move controller. The other tools can be created with which will probably involve vita inputs and whatnot, though obviously you'll need a vita to play and test your creations with these features.

Theres plenty of stickers, sounds, music pieces, objects, materials, decorations, and some costumes to. Don't worry!

Just like I didn't need the Move controller to use sticker panel or to place the broccoli decoration...you don't need a vita to use all the above stuff!

Four New Tools --- The Worm Hole, the Vitanator, the Remote Tag Sensor and the Tag Radar are all available to help you create your own Cross-Controller experience

Remote tag sensor and tag radar?
I don't get it, couldn't we just use ANDS or activated microchips to turn tag sensors on or off?
Only thing i can think of what radar could be makes me think of the show on radar settings for tags on LBPK.

I'm guessing it has something to do with sensing tags that are active on the Vita? There needs to be a way to communicate between the devices after all.

The most intuitive and creative level designers will even be able to use the tool to remove Sackboy from gameplay and effectively lock him in a state of stasis whilst action is taking place elsewhere in the level…However we’ll leave it up to you and Sackboy to discover just what potential his new Worm Hole discovery holds for LittleBigPlanet and the rest of the Omniverse!

I think host detection was much more requested then teleporter, since it was not so painful to workaround it with controllinator, where host detection was near to impossible

There IS host detection now. Me and bons were making a level after the patch(it has a new thread, examine it) and I saw the new settings - player sensors and controlinators specifically have a "Detect Lead Player" toggle thingy. You can change it so it only detects either everybody or the leader.

...So, either I just repeated something everyone already knew, or blew your minds. Hoping for the latter.

I'm going to be really honest here. I was so disappointed with the load times of LBPVita (the reason I bought the Vita) that I eventually sold my Vita, along with my Wiiu. It actually put me off LBP for a long time and I'm currently catching up on a lot of PS3 games I missed out on like Borderlands 2 and Dragon's Dogma. I'm sort of regretting that now though, but I'll pick another Vita up at a later date when I've got the money. When you are out of the loop for so long, you begin to feel like an intruder on a site like this. I know it's silly, but that's why I haven't been here for a while.

Wow... wasn't expecting that at all. I thought you enjoyed LBP Vita? And why the Wii U as well? I admit I don't touch LBPV anymore either (due to the long load times), but figure I'll keep my PS Vita since there's nothing to lose.

Well you're still welcome here, the worst you could say is you're a former LBP player.

I couldn't connect initially, try starting the cross controller in LBP2 before starting it on the Vita. It then went to step 2 and downloaded the cross controller bubble to the Vita...this took a while.

I've only played the first level, but its pretty great, this dlc is much cooler than I thought it would be...and at this point the Vita with thr nyko grip is more comfortable as a controller than the dual shock (I prefer the extra weight).

It connected pretty much right away...going from step 1 to 2 to download the data. Download is 500 mb, took a few minutes, nothing crazy.

I can't compare it to the Move levels, I don't have a controller.

Yes, getting it up and running was pretty... interesting. I had to install the patch for LBP2, update the firmware on my Vita, and then download half a gig of whatever to the Vita before I could start playing. If your PS3 controller happens to die while you're playing alone with a Vita, it seems to cause some strange input problems. Not sure what that's about yet.

So far I'm enjoying the levels. There is some really solid level design in the first few levels, and there are tons of new assets. The movement in the second level is really fantastic. I had to stop playing for reasons stated below.

The Worm Hole thingy works pretty well, even though I'm playing on my own. I somewhat enjoy the idea of players splitting up and regrouping after completing a short task. It makes for more interesting cooperative play than we normally get from x2 puzzles. The tilt and front- and rear-touch stuff is nothing mind blowing, but is simple and effective. I think I'm enjoying the idea of my player moving to the Vita screen more than anything else.

That said, I'm not sure if I'm the only person experiencing strange network problems. It seems that the Cross-Play connection between my Vita and PS3 will knock the rest of my (and my wife's) devices off the network, prompting me to reboot my router. My desire to play the levels sadly does not trump my wife's desire for the internet, so I guess I'll have to play it when she's busy with something else.

I did notice this. Who did you think was making them? I really don't know who does what with this game anymore so I didn't have any reaction to seeing Sumo Digital credited.

amoney, that's the opposite of what worked for me...getting the cross controller bubble on the Vita seems to be problematic. I think some concrete instructions are warrented, lol.

While everyone is having trouble getting the Vita and PS3 connected, I'm still having trouble downloading the patch still...

I'm starting to wonder if it's my PS3 or not, but I've never had any problems before. I seem to be getting disconnected from PSN quite often during the patch download, and I've tried everything in the book besides restoring my PS3 system.

This wouldn't be that big of a deal for me if I could just play LBP2 online without updating. *sigh*

Anyone have any suggestions that don't involve completely resetting my PS3?
(WPA2 Wireless connection btw...Yeah, I know, but I've never had any problems before this.)

EDIT: Taking a hiatus as I try and make this patch go through...Gonna be WiFiless for the next several hours in hopes that this patch download doesn't disconnect.

After beating all the levels, I think the pack was alright. I think instead of having dressed up sackpeople as the characters, they could've had weird creatures(like LBP1 and LBP2s) to make things more interesting. Also kind of upsetting there's 4 levels, and 2 of them are an introduction level and boss level. And lastly, the theme was disappointing. Some of us debated whether we were going to be traveling to different crazy planets instead of staying in spaceships, but sadly that is not the case. The most amusing level was the chicken one, but other than that I had a straight face while playing unfortunately. There weren't any cool creatures throughout the levels, only 1 or 2 enemies, and barely any color. I mean cmon, LBP2, The Muppets pack, and Toy Story pack all have space levels already. I want something new and fresh!

I know this is mainly to give us some tools to create with and whatnot, but I'm the type that loves playing story levels. And there's no doubt the community will eventually come up with something good but I was looking honestly looking forward to the default stuff. Perhaps I'll try co-op with a family member tomorrow, maybe it's not meant for single player.

Not bagging on this game, just giving my true opinion as a fan. Great job to the level designers and all, but I guess this one just wasn't for me. Feel like it got all the mechanics down, but had so much more potential when it comes to aesthetics. Maybe just maybe they'll make a Part 2 and mix up the themes a bit.

Oh and one thing I found interesting... The vita portion actually appears to be using the LBPV engine. Everything in create mode on the Vita looks exactly the same, even the layout.

Looking forward to others impressions

I have to agree, I wasn't all that impressed either. I would rank this level pack about the same as the Marvel level pack, not bad, but not great. Now this just judging the levels, the meat of the pack for me are the materials, decorations, background, etc. which I'll be going over tomorrow and I'm sure won't disappoint. And I actually liked the theme, I just didn't think it went far enough. A couple more levels on an alien type planet would have been perfect.2012-12-19 05:39:00

For those having trouble getting it to work, first enter cross-controller on the Vita (the blue app) then connect with the PS3. That's what I did and it worked well.

The problem's not that we can't follow simple directions, the problem is the function just does not want to work for everyone. My signal to the wifi in my building is like...16% and it refuses to connect, even though my vita is like...2 feet away from my playstation.

Very stupid design if you ask me. Not on Mm's part, but on Sony and the development team behind the vita console itself. There should have been an ethernet port, or crossplay should have been made to work using bluetooth in addition to wifi...

Edit: My vita usually has no problem connecting to internet features.. but the remote play function is TERRIBLE and NEVER works right. Only works with a 50% error rate at home when the signal is 80%.

.

Weird creatures? you mean the special costumes like Eve? if so then LBP1 did not have any. LBP1 just had them poorly made cardboard characters. Does anyone else find it ironic that back on LBP1 we oh so very badly wanted sackfolk AI characters to the point a lot of levels just had a cutout with a picture of a sack on it? but now on LBP2 there are a lot of people who like creating cardboard characters even tho almost nobody really did on LBP1?

But yeah I way sooner enjoy and want dressed sackbot characters in levels instead of cutout characters myself. but i also really would like some special costumes like Eve instead once in a while. :S

Yeah the level theme of this pack is nothing special. just your basic space ship themed levels like we have so many of already, especially from the community. the levels are well made enough.. but it would had been nice to see something more and different. *mew

And kinda annoying there is a x4 area in the pack.. it's fine if you have lots of friends & a good internet connection.. not so good for people who don't have 1 of them 2 things...

+ Maybe it's because I'm Sonic the hedgehog fan But i really would like to see way more enemies in the story levels to jump on and pop. *mew

PS: This may just my my opinion but I think there are to many male costume characters in this pack. 1 more female would had been nice IMO.

Totally agree with this! Remember those awesome jumping ninjas on LBP1 that you had to kill? Or the walking sushi in the asian levels... I really miss that type of gameplay.

LBP2 had SOME enemies, but not quite enough. And now these DLC packs have nearly none. Sure it's fun and all platforming avoiding hazards, but why not add some life and have living things come after you? It's like Mario running through a level with no Goombas or Koopas, just land.

Also agreed about the females, one of the space pirates should've been a chick.

I hope if someone from the team reads this they listen to our feedback. I just think LBP's levels and gameplay can be improved by a few simple things.

Forgot to add that I despise unskippable cutscenes. These weren't as bad as The Muppets, but I should be able to jump right into the game and play.

If they added the memorizer to LBP2 we could have cut scenes that recognise you've already played the level once and give you an option to stop them entirely for the next play throughs2012-12-19 07:39:00

Well, I enjoyed the gameplay. Really cool playing with other sackfolk seeing them on screen while I'm interacting with them on my vita. Seems as if it was designed more with cooperative play in mind. I'm loving all the materails, decorations, stickers, and objects. From this point on is a rage fest.
Ok, so I was really looking foward to those awesome tools that the LBPvita has. I see right away in yesterday's patch that we didn't get them. So.. I'm thinking maybe it has something to do with Tarsier making LBPVita and its their intelectual property. I can live with that. Until I went to create mode with the cross controller and found all my tools there. Where I can't access them in LBP2. What crap. I want those tools in LBP2. Aslo, the blue matrix skin was in there too. Does that mean I don't get that costume? Its only in the cross controller? I saw it in one of the LBP2 cc levels so I know it exhists. I havn't aced all the levels yet so I can't say for sure but man its annoying not having all that great stuff. its there but unable to use it unless its cross controller. lame.

^That blue matrix looking costume is earned by acing every level. I have everything now

And like I said earlier, the Vita portion of create mode seems like it was ripped right out of LBP Vita(almost certain it was). What else would that 1GB download for the PS Vita be? It's like a mini LBP Vita program that connects to LBP2. Pretty interesting.

It seems the only materials usable in our levels on the Vita side are the handful of space themed ones in this pack, and the 'basic' materials. Am i missing something?

Also, I thought this pack is LBP2 and not at all LBPV, but I'm confused why we see the LBPV logo (red with the finger print) on the vita download for this. In fact as I recall the name of the Vita download was actually LittleBigPlanet Playstation Vita Cross Controller Kit. (No numeral 2 involved.) is this just a marketing mistake?

Hey there!

I can't donlowad the Pack yet as I'm in EU, but I was reading your reactions and saw that the connection between PS3 and Vita was in Wifi. Does it means that if my PS3 is connected via ethernet and I don't have Wifi in the same room I won't be able to play the pack?

I was considering buying it but not i'm not sure anymore.

Is your wireless router on the same network as your PlayStation 3? If that's the case and the wireless signal can reach the Vita, you should be fine. So long as both machines are on the same network you are pretty much good to go.

Thank you for your answer. My Vita connect on the same network, but my Wifi signal don't reach the room where my PS3 is, so I guess that won't work. Well, i'm not telling the truth as I might occasionnaly have one bar of wifi in the room, but this is a weak and unstable signal.

Thanks again!

Has anyone in the UK been able to find the Level Pack either on the Playstation Store or in the In-Game LBP2 or Vita Store? A patch came down last night (the 18th) but I haven't been able to find the download for it anywhere. I've searched under every single term I can think of.

I'm also a Plus member and was told it would be free for plus members but it isn't in that section to download either.

Any help would be really appreciated and I apologise in advance for being a Klutz. This was written on the 19th - the supposed release date of the DLC content for the UK.

Many thanks in advance, Miffyrabbit.

I have not hit the create yet, and truly it may be a while. But I really enjoyed the levels for what they are, space ships. I agree the theme is a bit tired and I would like to have seen them go to distant planets, but they were good. I really like the chicken world. I played them all last night alone and then did it again this morning with a friend and I would agree that they are multiplayer-centric. Though I tell you it was really neat to have interaction with the other player. When they did something it changed what I was doing and that is just neat. We particularly enjoyed the minigames. The mind reels at all the things that could be made using this. Overall, I am really excited to have the tools and more over I am thankful for the option. It will be neat to see what people do, if they put their mind to it.

Yeah, not sure what would fit, but I expected more materials accessible on the Vita side. Or at least a more flexible assortment.

Even though I don't create, I'm a little upset how the create mode is set up too. On one hand, putting the LBP2 goodies for the Vita portion would be like porting them ALL to LBP Vita which would be a lot of work. On the other hand, I really think they should've set it up differently because it isn't very immersive.

Notice how your costume changed to the space one when going through worm holes? That's because you can't bring your costume with you to the Vita side, doesn't memorize it. So it's like you're switching inputs from LBP2 and this 1GB LBPV program on your Vita.

I know it probably couldn't have been done another way, but it feels like I'm half-playing LBP2 and half-playing LBPV instead of playing LBP2 with the Vita controller. In the worm hole sections at least.

My Impressions:

Overall, I like the pack, and would recommend it. The levels are fun, and feature some pretty cool mechanisms. There's 5 new costumes comprised of about 30 new costume pieces. And then there's a TON of new goodies. And while we've had plenty of space levels before, we've never had such a deep assortment of good looking materials and flexible decorations for them. Anybody aspiring to make a high-tech-looking level ought to have this pack. I think it's clear that the experienced folks who put this pack together put some heart into it.

You also get an entire NEW MOON that appears when you enable cross play, so if you're running out of slots, that's a nice feature. Unfortunately I think that moon is only enabled when you enable the Vita controller, so I don't think you can take advantage of that without owning a Vita. What's worse, while enabled, the new moon replaces your old moon, and so I think you lose all access to those old slots while using the Vita controller. So I think if you wanted to add Vita features to an existing level, you'd have to migrate the level from one moon to the other by cutting and pasting chunks.

TAG RADAR:
The Tag Radar is the most intriguing gadget in my option, and doesn't strictly have to do with the Vita. Tag Radar is a positional tag signal repeater. You need a Tag Rader set to receiver mode to sense an actual tag around it. Then another Tag Radar, set to transmit mode, will cause a ghost tag signal to appear at the same position, relative to the transmitter, that the actual tag is located relative to the receiver. But, you can also tweak the transmitting Tag Radar to scale the distance, down or up, making the ghost signal closer or further from the transmitter than the real signal is from the receiver. You can even scale X and Y directions separately. One limitation is that Tag Radar receivers can only pick up one signal, that of the nearest tag. So tracking and repeating multiple similar tags will get cumbersome.

OTHER GADGETS:
The Wormhole is nifty too. Yes we could make deathless teleporters before, but Wormholes are slicker. They can be non-visible, silent, and logic activated, and thus allow for truly instantaneous movement. (They can of course also allow you to travel between screens.)

The Remote Tag Sensor doesn't seem to offer any new functionality unless you're making a cross play level. If I understand correctly, all it does is sense a tag anywhere on either screen. In a single screen level, I think this is just the same as a tag sensor with a large radius set to signal strength.

And the Vitanator of course allows you to control things (including sackboy) on the main screen with the Vita, and is much like the Movinator and the original Controlinator.

Yeah. Even your score doesn't seem to carry over. I haven't really tested that, but when I started popping bubbles on the Vita screen, my score there was starting from zero.

But this pack is certainly better than nothing, and I suppose no matter what they give us, we'll generally always want more. :-) There's certainly a lot of fun to be had with all this. Perhaps it's best targeted at support screens affecting main screen game play, as was mostly done in the pack's levels.

How in the world do I get the Vita's Cross Controller app to connect to the PS3 Cross Control???

On the Vita, I'm stuck on the first step and on the PS3, it remains on the black screen with the initial instructions. I've tried opening one up first, connecting with USB, etc.

(Btw, I can easily use the basic Remote Play feature...)

Ok, I've aced everything and collected all gifts (even from the tutorials) but I still have only one of the three music tracks. When I checked out the CP (ew) create mode all three were there. If those awesome tracks are only available on the vita side of things then I'll be seriously p'd off. That doesn't make any sense so I'm wondering if it's an oversight.

In terms of the pack, I really enjoyed it. I don't see why so many people are complaining about the theme because the previous packs had a space level. Just because something shares a setting doesn't mean they share a theme, and I personally loved this because of the inspiration it drew from Starhawk, Gundam and Judge Dredd (I think). And -and believe me this is a shocker- the humour was actually pretty funny and the story was good for what it was. It just feels unfinished. The materials, decorations and stickers are all pretty great on the whole. My disappointment with CP create was how limited the palette was, which is a huge shame. It really puts a limit on what people can create. Hopefully people will be able to overcome it.

I'm not a fan of there being only four levels and I think some opportunity was lost, but the level design was still solid (to say the least). The first side level was pretty finicky and was very glitchy and hard to complete. If people manage to ace that they are officially gods. I'll need to play with some of the create stuff as it looks pretty fun. But yeah, I want those tracks.

Good job Sumo (I know who you all are). Hopefully any future projects will be a bit more polished, but it's good to see superb level design.

How the fudge did you guys download the pack to your VITA? When I start downloading, it just resets when it reaches 435kb and just goes back to 0. :L Why not just download it from the VITA's store? >_>

Edit: Whoa, actually reached 2000kb ... Aaaand, reset. :kz:

EDIT2: It just keeps resetting. I'm just gonna give up, screw it! Hey Gribble, wanna buy my VITA?

I think I remember five levels with two pretty fun minigames. The levels were fun, and the costumes are pretty great as well. I haven't looked at all the materials I got in detail yet, but the create features are pretty neat, although it's not quite what I expected.

It more or less just facilitates a connection between a level on the Vita and a level on the PS3.

Here's an opinion from someone who doesn't own a vita. If you want to make sci-fi and steampunk levels then this pack is a must own and in my opinion it has the best value of all the packs I've seen so far. In fact there is so much content that it doesn't even fit into one level and I haven't even seen the stickers yet. It's not just high quantity, it's high quality too. There are a few new animated materials (bubbly goo, conveyor belt, low static) and some other tweakable materials too. The holographic metal, from what I can tell, is almost identical to neon bevel so that was a bit disappointing but who cares? lol The materials will not disappoint. There are loads of great decos that consist of gauges, wires, lights, and other metallic objects and quite a few of them are animated. This also contains my personal favorite decoration by far but I won't spoil the surprise. You should see it for yourself. I've seen nothing else like it. It also contains a pretty meaty sound object.

It also contains a full costume pack that they would normally charge an extra 6 bucks for. If you don't own a vita and you're hoping for lots of new tools then I think you'll be disappointed. The teleporter is kind of cool but it looks like it's really just the controlinator trick reskinned. You cannot transport sacks individually, you can only transport all or the leader. One sack stepping into it will automatically transport everyone even with the versus cam set. If I'm wrong about this please let me know.

Other than that it's amazing. This is by far the best pack if you're looking for a wealth of good content. For 5 bucks you get a ton of materials, objects, decorations, and a whole costume pack. I still haven't even seen everything or the levels. A friend gave me a bunch of content. If you don't have a vita then you can still go to the tutorials and unlock the tools and a new sticker font that looks like the Playstation 3 font.

Pros: Incredible quality, incredible value. For sci-fi fans this is the pack you've been waiting for. Deco heaven.

Cons: You need a vita or a friend with a vita to get the content. Aside from the wormhole teleporter that performs a function you can easily create anyway, there's really nothing new in the way of tools unless you have a vita. A pack with this much useful content shouldn't be this restricted. Give us the option to download an unlock for all the content so everyone that doesn't have a vita can access the creation content.

Haven't yet try anything in create mode.

After having played all the levels they were not quite as boring as i first thought. don't get me wrong i still didn't fine them great. however i loved the steampunk chicken ship level. and all the pack's cutscenes were pretty good too. and it's great how the pack came with 5 costumes. though still wish 1 more was female. but that brings me to my main point. where this pack really shines is all it's collectible content. really great stuff especially if you build scifi or steampunk levels. which means i'll have a lot of use for it myself. *mew2012-12-20 09:41:00

I'm a tad disappointed at how almost useless the wormhole is. Don't get me wrong, it's a great idea, but it's missing half of the tweaks that it so desperately needs. There's no "any" option in the tweak menu, so you either have to teleport everyone or just the host. This makes it completely useless for vs. levels or anything of the sort. Also, I had assumed that wiring an entrance into multiple exits would randomly pick an exit to spit you out of, but I guess that would just make too much sense. Instead, it simply spits you out of whatever exit was wired first. With a bit of logic I quickly got random wormhole exits working, though.2012-12-20 16:53:00

Is it possible to make the wormholes invisible and silent? also can you wire a logic piece into them so that you can trigger sackboy to exit out of one without having to enter one??

i also would like to know whether or not it will be possible to play cross controller levels if you dont have the pack - since when i attempted to use the cross controller feature on vita it kept telling me it was waiting for me to start cross-controller enabled software on the ps3. was i doing something wrong?

You can get all of it except maybe the aced level prizes (unless you have a good team dynamic I guess?) provided you have a friend with a vita.2012-12-20 18:16:00

ATTENTION!

Anyone with problems downloading the first step LISTEN!

It won't work if your wifi connection is too weak. You must bring your vita close to your router so that you have at least 3 bars of signal. Then you will be able to proceed to step 2 in a heartbeat. Leave your vita at this location until it is done downloading the app. Then continue to follow the instructions.

I brought my vita back upstairs after it was done and now it connects to the game correctly (give or take). The problem isn't that you're doing something wrong. The problem is that the vita has incredibly weak wifi connectivity. You need to be practically hugging your router to get it to have a strong signal. I blame sony... my Galaxy S3 has no problem connecting to the wifi in the same location, whereas the vita is just crying when I ask it to connect to facebook.

It's not possible. To access the pack you must have a vita connected or a friend with a vita connected. It's just like how the Move Pack would kick you out if there wasn't a move detected.

You need at least one vita to play the level. There's sections that require the vita to complete the levels.

After spending 2 whole gruesome hours with tech support, I finally figured what was wrong with my connection from the vita to the LBP2 game. If anyone's having problems getting cut off from the vita while in the middle of playing the cross-controller levels, then I have the solution. However, tedious it is, it works.
After getting cut off in the middle of playing, my connection from the vita kept saying "Please Wait" for over 15 min. If this happens, go out of the vita and cancel the Cross-Controller part of your profile moon. Then go to the settings and go to restore default settings. You have to go through the steps of date, time and hdmi acceptance. After that, you have to re-enter your wifi network settings. When this was all done, I just had to re-apply my theme settings and that was it.
Just go back and install Lbp2 and go to the cross-controller and press enter. Then, with your vita, select the cross-controller lbp bubble and connect. Voila, it worked every time I was disconnected. Remember, this is for those that could'nt connect back and if anyone has a better solution, please state it. Hope this helps those having the same problems as I have

Easy way is to have the friend with vita get to the scoreboard then join, and finish the level together and there's your ace.

Tell me bout it. But that's the only thing that worked as far as I know. Keep in mind that it's only when you get disconnected during gameplay and you can't connect again.Obviously a bug that I could only figure out to fix.2012-12-20 20:18:00

All? As for gadgets without Vita useful are:

-Warmholes (thru aside of fact they don't suck in sackbots they not diffrent from controlinator teleporter.... but they can rotate decorations!)
-Tag Radar can mirror tags in single console, which allows you to remove holo-tag contraptions around sackbots if you want to have flying something aorund it and change postion
-Cross-Controller got biggst and best sound object from all DLCs it's extenstion of Robot and Sci-Fi sound object

Besides the fact the wormhole is pretty basic I have a couple major problems. (Don't get me wrong, I still love the pack and it's a brilliant idea, but I have to complain somewhere!)

1. The lbp2 tools haven't been updated; for instance the vita side of cross controller, you have an AND gate with the multiply values option from LBPV; the lbp2 one still doesn't have that. That applies to most of the tools. (They did add 'leader' and 'everyone options, but I remember lbpv having a player 1-4-all option)

2. Am I missing something or is the vita side of level completely limited to the stuff you get in the pack? There aren't even many musical instruments, which makes me wonder if you can download other stuff?

3. Don't walk away! If your Vita goes into power save, it gets disconnected from the PS3; this kicks both PS3 and PSV back to the pod. It does NOT save the level. (this is by far the biggest and most real complaint; this also applies if you go into another app in psv, even settings.)

Though I do like the new tag sensors! I've also noticed that cross-controller gets it's own moon of levels, which is a double edged sword. You get a lot of bonus room, but if you need to grab something from an old level you have to disconnect and go back. Though it also seems like the vita and ps3 creates do not share thermo.

I thibnk you yet did noticed but Vita part is teared down LBPV, which means i had all it's goodies and as they are seperate application that using each of console thrmo is sperate. Same as LBP2 and LBPV in order to something to work in specific game it requires data, considering LBP1 and LBP2 toghther with all it's DLC is huge i would not expect them to fit it in to Vita part.... they didn't do that in LBPV too. LBP2 is outdated and it has lot of gap between LBPV, i guess they didn't have a time to upgrade.... on 2nd i also don't understand why they didn't include option for sperate players not just leader (player 1), they seem to implement stuff that they really need not thinking what might be useful for community creators... or for some they don't want to extend LBP2 features out too much even on such basic things (it is basic as they did for player 1, why not add options for more?)

Though at this point I kinda wonder why they didn't just make you need a LBPV to use this cross controller pack instead of making that limited LBPV rip App that gets downloaded from your PS3 to the Vita... seems kinda odd to me. *mew2012-12-21 12:48:00

Do I need to buy the cross controller pack on the same account that I want to play it on for it to work with the vita?

I want to play it on my "craigmond" account and that is the account my vita uses too. The problem is, Sony doesn't allow sub-accounts to use PSN cards so I have to buy it on my master account. So will it still work if I buy it there?

Edit: Don't answer this, I have a plan.

EDIT:

A user going by the name of Theo Thomas posted something useful in StevenI's guide, you might find it useful, I did:

The most found problem was not stated in the OP so here we go. If your Vita and PS3 are on the same network and you can't get them to see eachother, go onto your PS3's network settings and look at the 'Settings and Connection Status List' then go onto your Vita, get up the network settings on their, choose your network and go to advanced. From there go to IP address and change it from automatic to manual, input everything the same as it is on your PS3 (Default Router == Default Gateway) except the IP. Add an extra number to it, for example if the PS3 says 192.168.0.58 change the Vita to 192.168.0.59

I was livestreaming last night and it took me 1 and a half hours (during stream) to figure this out. It's nobody but Sonys fault, the Vita must pick up a super strange IP address...

4. The vita side also suffers from the same thing as lbpv; too many custom stickers destroy the thermo. So yeah it does look like they copy/pasted a lot of the coding. I wish they did just make it use lbpv directly, or at least have the option to import stuff from there

I've always used static IPs, and now a DHCP reservation table, so luckily I didn't have that problem lol

The problem with using LBP Vita directly is that then the user would not only require a PS Vita, but a copy of LBP Vita as well. There'd be even less people able to make good use of the tools.

Umm i don't think so. what kind o LBP fan buys a PSvita and not a LBPV anyways? Not any i've ever heard of. if you already payed 250$+ for the PSvita system i doubt another 40$ is gonna kill yo pocket. even less if you buy it off of ebay. it be more worth being able to connect your LBPV with LBP2 anyways. *mew

Both solutions have pros and cons

-As you said this solution gives better accessibility but limits resources
-LBP Vita have a lot more resources like materials and object, not to mention got most of LBP2 costume DLC, but you would need yet another thing to buy in order to use cross-controller

You can't do both or else Sony is willing to maintain to LBP Vita's one limited for those who don't buy it one that buy it

You can access everything, except the vitanator, & 2 songs(I believe) without having the vita.(

But to get everything else you do need a friend with a vita, since you literally can't play the levels without it.

PS. & if you get the vitanator form the tutorials (http://lbp.me/v/g4w5e4) & you go to a friend on the vita moon, you can access the vitanator there, and then capture it, so you can take it out of the vita moon.
