Let's be honest though, very few threads manage to stay on topic when it concerns a serious-ish issues,. It will be serious talk for maybe about 2 pages then it will turn into peanuts, cookies and 'that part of LBPC' where we let our ego's run wild  . Nevertheless! Let's see how long it lasts. The mere implication that I must conform to a specific choice is the very defintion of tyranny. Destruction and chaos are bound to follow if this goes unchallenged. Who's with me!? Holstering it in the "so called" good position means you have to move your paper-grabbing hand at a funny angle. | I am proud of everyone here, we're onto the second page, and have tackled two extremely controversial topics of peanut butter & toilet rolls without a total meltdown occurring. That takes some serious dedication & restraint. While I would wish to avoid any unnecessary pericombobulation, I would suggest an even more extreme topic to debate. It's pretty explosive, so I hope the moderators keep a close eye on this one. And here it is, make sure you're sitting down and you're not eating or drinking.. Baked bean juice and tomato ketchup.. should they be mixed? Are they pretty much the same thing? | I agree with Taffey.. a TP roll has to be mounted with the leading edge over the top. ..if you like it the other way, no real argument. Nothing to debate. PBJ sandwiches can be made anyway you want since it is your sandwich you are making. Nothing to debate. ..as far as bean juice and ketchup? What? I think that is a UK thing, although a cheap way to perk up baked beans is to add a bit of ketchup and brown sugar. A thread having no topic except Debate? It's not just this thread, but more locked threads come from the off-topic forum (General Chat). | So I guess the off-topic forum is a true off-topic forum because of all these de-railed threads.It's actually the General Chat forum which, surprisingly, is intended for general chat. Threads with non-specific topics and/or threads that devolve into random spamming go bye-bye. The key here is focused topics. Yes, even threads about which way toilet paper rolls go or how to best make a PB&J sandwich are just fine, provided the person who starts the thread takes the responsibility to keep the conversation focused on the subject for which the thread is intended. This thread has no real focus, and although it's nearly been diverted into meaningful (if silly) dicussion, it is quickly breaking down as it had no particular point from the very beginning. I have hopes that you may yet be able to salvage this thread into something that adds value to the forum. I'm a pretty relaxed guy, and I strongly believe that the whole point of a forum like this is to have fun and participate in interesting discussions. LBPC should be a pleasant place to hang out and participate in the outstanding community we are all so fortunate to be a part of. Anything on this site that detracts from that vision will be dealt with swiftly, and this thread is toeing the line. tl;dr - Focus on a topic or I'm locking this thread. | Maybe if the thread had an actual title of what the topic was rather than "the debate thread". As it stands now, this is a thread that should be devoted on how best to debate one another. So back to the actual topic that was first brought up... TP rolls. What if you don't like using those TP holders? In our house the stupid holders are mounted too far back and all on the left side and been too lazy to move them. Not handy at all for right handed folks so we simply have the roll sitting on the counter top.
