I broke the camera!

Archive: 8 posts

I somehow broke the camera on my track. I didn't do anything differently that I knew of from my Metroid track, but somehow I have screwed it all up. I tried putting a couple of cameras up for a pre-race movie, and I hooked them up to the scoreboard. It made it to where when the race actually starts, I see some distant brick wall close up instead of the drivers, and I can't race. I went to the scoreboard and disconnected all connections, but it still did it. I even tried deleting the scoreboard and making a new one, but when I went to put in the new one it wouldn't let me, telling me I already HAD a scoreboard. I am like 95% done with the track, and I am panicked. What do I do? 2012-12-11 20:36:00

Is there a chance that you have a forgotten camera somewhere in the distance that could be active and staring at a brick wall.

Oddly enough I had an issue sort of like this because I put out a camera, and then decided that I didn't want it so I just wired the battery to a different camera but that one still activated and screwed up the level. I wasn't sure where it was among all the different trees (this is in Tree Top Trouble) so I had to focus on what the camera was showing and try to find it based off of that. It made for an interesting, funny, and very frustrating puzzle that I accidentally forced myself to solve.

Perhaps this is not your issue at all but it sounds like what I ran into. If you are sure you know where all the cameras that you have placed are at and they are deleted then I am sure that this isn't your issue.

AmazingPoo: Hi, my name is Wigriff, and I'm a complete and total idiot. Sometimes I do moronic things like poke myself in the eye, fall up stairs, burn myself on the stove... or accidentally stick cameras on the very stone wall I have been staring at over-and-over when I try to start a race and forget about it. Thank you for solving my problem.2012-12-11 22:19:00

You can also become a pirate, then you get an eye patch to protect your eye. :arg:

But seriously, it's a good idea to use plenty of experimental levels, and copy your official level to another crater for backup once in a while. That way, if something does go wrong, you don't lose as much.

Hahaha! I HAD been doing backups frequently, but I was so close to finishing at this point that I was slacking. Not anymore! I am going to back this level up about 10 times.

And I'm going to buy that eye patch.

And I'm going to habitually start sentences with conjunctions.

When talking about self-inflicted incidents requiring eyepatches I always think of that great scene from Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.

Not pictured, but the bit where the dinner guest asks why he's got a cork on the end of his fork... and in that moment he pokes his eyepatch with the cork-on-a-fork and makes that funny little grunt... such a great character bit.

Steve Martin. You awesome, awesome man.
