Time Stamp on all posts

Archive: 12 posts

Like it says in the title, is there any way to get a time stamp on all posts?

I'm not sure if that's a vbulletin thing, or it was just never implemented. Either way, I'm curious to see what anyone else thinks on this...

No... actually it is simply the time shown when the post was made. Example
10:56am est

I suggest you to open a poll of the proposed timestamps, to help decide which will be placed on the forum.2012-12-12 18:36:00

I'd suggest that if it goes anywhere, that it be appended to the "3 Hours Ago" that appears in the blue header for individual posts. In fact, I'm not sure why a time stamp is necessary - all it offers is a greater precision to when a post is made, but it doesn't really help you, does it?

You also then have to worry about people indicating their time zone via their profile settings (which some people may not know how to do).

Is this not enough? (http://i.imgur.com/F0TK8.png)

So you hate this then? http://www.jwwwebdesign.com/pictures/clockStamp.jpg

..but I guess that was so 6 hours ago.

I have to admit that this is sort of a selfish request. I was purely thinking in terms of Survivor with how we occasionally do things where we need to track exactly when players posted stuff. Once you get past the first hour, you can't narrow it down as much as we occasionally needed. It was nice having those timestamps on planetarium, but ever since Taffey graciously took us in over here, I've been missing those timestamps something fierce!

Regarding the timezone thing you mentioned, I figured that things would work the same as they did on planetarium - with things being shown adjusted to a user's active browsing experience. i.e. I'd see everything adjusted to Eastern.

We've been able to work without em, so if they end up being something difficult to implement, you'll find me firmly in the don't bother camp.

It's definitely a "nice to have sometimes" kind of feature though, and although it can be useful I also think it looks a bit messy sometimes. It'd be nice if it was a clickable or hover-able value (is "hover-able" a word?), but I'm inclined to say it won't be the easiest thing in the world to implement.

I haven't found much on the subject yet, but I'm continuing to poke around.
