Hi there folks! As you may be aware, the Community Spotlight Crew are celebrating their 100th episode this week! As part of the festivities, they asked me if I could host a Trivia Contest, with Special Prizes for the winners!

Hubbie's Information Desk

How does this work?

This is a trivia challenge, designed in the catacombs of Spotlight Central in order to separate the geniususes... geniuses... genii? Clever People from the dunces. If you fancy yourself to be a bit of a smarty pants, then you might well want to try your hand at entering! If you score highest, you might even win something!

How do I enter?

Copy the answer sheet below and fill it in with your answers. When you've answered everything you can, send it via pm to me by Midnight GMT Sunday the 30th December. You answers will be marked by our most professional-looking spotlight crew members (The ones sporting reading glasses, most likely) and the results posted in the contest forum.

What if there's a tie?

Interesting question indeed. I most certainly hope there won't be a tie. . . but if there is, I know that the crew have a little solution to that up their sleeves. I would suggest that you keep checking your inbox, in case they get in touch with you via private message.

What Prizes are available?

There are three prizes up for grabs, as detailed below. The winners will be asked to choose their prize from the list, with 1st place taking first choice, 2nd place second choice, and so on, until all three prizes are claimed.

As well as the prizes detailed below, the 1st Place winner will be awarded with the LBPCentral Contest Winner Pin!

Prizes:

One Year Subscription to PS Plus
PSN Card: ( ?35 / $50 / €40 )
PSN Card: ( ?25 / $40 / €20 )

NB: The amounts listed for the PSN cards are so calculated to attempt to be as fair to those from differing countries as we can. We hope that they should work out to be about equal in value when redeemed in the PSN Store.

When is the deadline again?

No no, don't worry, I'm used to repeating myself. The deadline is Midnight GMT Sunday the 16th December. Any entries received after this point will not be eligible for the competition. Sorry about that, but it has to end at some point. Update: deadline has been extended until midnight on Sunday, 30th December!

Round One: Spotlighters' Best Bits
Reviews kept in the trophy cabinet

http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m489/psnrialrees/HubbieTriviaBanner2.png

These spotlighters are a proud bunch. So much time is dedicated to writing up a stellar review of the levels that they feature, sometimes they get a little . . . vain about it. They even keep a sample of their 'best bits' on display! Problem is. . . the tags used to label them all fell off! They're going a little bit crazy at the moment, arguing over who wrote what!

I'm desperately in need of some peace and quiet over here, so I could do with some help!

Below, you will see quotes taken directly from reviews written by various spotlighters from past episodes. I need to know which Spotlighter wrote the review, what episode the review was written in, and what level the review was about.

Entrants will score one peanut for each part of their answer they get correct, with a maximum of three peanuts per quote.

I love the smell of bubble chains in the morning! There are enough bubble combos in this level for the morning, afternoon, evening, and all of next week.

Give it the time and attention it deserves and you'll be rewarded. Play it like a regular level and you'll be ready to throw your controller in a barrel!

You know, I had a load of fun in this level pulling the characters apart to look at thier [sic] brains. It was great fun.

We usually experience vehicle-based races as linear, but this level discards the notion down its exhaust pipe and flaunts innovation in its play on perspective.

This was a nice reminder of days gone by when things we take for granted like switches and bouncepads had to be constructed from scratch.

Pairs of creators tend to push each other above and beyond what they would normally create and be happy with, but what do you get when both creators are already pretty dang good anyway?

Your poor little Sack is having cruel alien experiments carried out on him before your very eyes! Don’t watch if the sight of stuffing makes you feel faint!

If you read these, please pm me the answer to twenty minus ten.

Granted bump might be a bit of understatement as this action thriller has POW! BAM! and K.O! written all over it. . .

A level that defies the laws of physics and leaves you absolutely perplexed how they pulled it off, in a good way.

-----

Round Two: Statistically Speaking . . .
Two Spotlighters to the power of Taffey equals. . .

http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m489/psnrialrees/HubbieTriviaBanner3.png

Yes, they've been arguing about it... AGAIN.

When I'm hunting through the cupboards for my midnight cookie snack, and I hear the crew in the games room, I often overhear another debate about who's been spotlighted the most often, or who's been in the crew for the longest. These people have more contests than OmegaSlayer (All hail our Dark Lord. . . ).

Please, for the sake of my sanity (and for a bit of peace and quiet whilst I'm dining on another Sm?rg?sbord of cookies and peanut-flavoured treats), help us answer these burning questions. . .

Question List:

What was the first level to receive a Spotlight?
When was the first Episode of the Spotlight Published?
In which episode did the PSP Spotlight begin?
Which episode contains the highest number of spotlighted levels (not including honourable mentions)?
When the Spotlight first began, what other requirement did creators have to meet in order to qualify for a spotlight (as well as posting their level in the showcase)?
In which episode was this requirement removed?
Which creator has the most PS3 Spotlights under their belt?
Which creator has the most PSP Spotlights to their name?
How many levels have been spotlighted (from episode 1-99!)?
Name the longest serving Spotlighter?

-----

Round Three: Spot the Spotlighter
If Bio wore a wig, would we notice the difference?

http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m489/psnrialrees/HubbieTriviaBanner4.png

So just how well do you know your spotlight crew?

Could you pick the avid cookie fan out of a line up? Or would you be left stammering in a corner, feeling rather embarrassed about yourself? This is the best round to find out!

Below you will find ten clues - each of them relate to a specific member (Past and Present) of the Spotlight Crew. Can you guess them correctly?

Can you guess which current or former spotlighter. . .

. . . is a female impersonator?
. . . features in Doctor Who? (Two members of the crew qualify - you can get a peanut for each one!)
. . . Would travel back in time to the 1980's, given half the chance?
. . . is a Turchicat (And for a bonus peanut, what is a Turchicat anyway?!)
. . . is a Champion Survivor?
. . . favours an afro?
. . . was the chief Duurp?
. . . thinks that beauty is in the eye of the beholder?
. . . were 'guest spotlighters' for one episode only? (For a bonus peanut, which level did they 'comment' on?)
. . . has been a member of all three LBPC crews (Contest, Community Spotlight & Creator Spotlight)

-----

Round Four: Spotlight Snapshots
Posing like Superman for 100 episodes and counting. . .

http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m489/psnrialrees/HubbieTriviaBanner5.png

If you're one of those eager, dedicated folks who plays every level the crew have ever featured, then this round will certainly test your memory. If you're not, you've got an awful lot of playing to do!

Aha. Just joshing.

The Spotlight Crew have been getting all nostalgic, and taking snaps from levels that have been featured across all the games in the LittleBigPlanet craftverse. But, well, they've played so many levels over the years, that they just can't remember where the pictures came from!

Yes my friend, you've guessed it. It's pretty much up to you! Well, there is a prize in it for you!

So many memories. Unfortunately I already have a few exams I need to study for and this looks like it takes more effort.

I can pretty much name all of the levels in the Snapshot section though, including ones from like three years ago. It's hard to believe I've been playing the LBP series for this long. Good luck to everyone who enters.

It's actually kinda hard to believe I have 15 spotlights overall. Too bad only four of them are still published.

It just goes to show that no earth could possibly have enough room for that much awesomeness.

Either that or I should stop publishing joke levels instead of serious ones.

In keeping with the festivities, I'll hop on LBP1 and publish some of my old spotlighted (and not so spotlighted) levels. It could be fun. Although I'm ignoring City in the Sky and The Mailbox because those were terrible.

I may take a crack at it but I don't think I stand a chance lol.

You gotta be in it to win it. Remember folks, it's not about getting them all, it's about getting the most. So pick a round and chip away, you may find that after the first few hits of the chisel you have a knack for carving.

Maybe start with Karting and Vita photos and see if you can get a system going for your sleuthing.

Either way it will be fun to find out the answers to these questions!

Yes, I too am wondering what some of the answers are. 0_o

Aww don't panic - it's just like Fusion says - the prize doesn't go to whoever gets EVERY answer - you may know more than you think

And what you don't know... you can probably find...

Seriously, though, just answer the ones you can and remember everyone is going to find some of them impossible.

Wow, these prizes are top notch! Wish I could enter. Guys, trust me, the answers are a lot easier to find than you may think. Sure, it's going to take some work and some reading but did you see what the dang prizes are? A FREE 1 yr subscription to PS+, site pin, PSN cards with the lowest amount being 25? Dang, wish I could enter this.2012-12-08 20:43:00

Everyone who enters is eligible, apart from those currently working on the spotlight crew.

I need to double check this with the crew and site staff, but I'm fairly certain that means that even retired spotlighters may be eligible, as they'll have no way of knowing what the answers are without either being incredibly clever, or searching for the answers the same way everyone else has to (they don't have access to our vault forum anymore, therefore they don't have any real advantage )

You'll want to keep an eye on the Triple-Sack championship for the extra challenges. The trivia contest is stand-alone, and STILL waiting for entrants btw!

Calling one and all! Surely you can answer ONE of these questions?

frankly... it looks like even one answer right will be enough to win this thing at the moment! Ha!

Doesn't seem to me that 88% of all the answers can be found using the Spotlight Search Tool (http://spotlight.lbpcentral.com/). Images can't be searched, and the answers to questions such as "which of crew members has neighbor whose aunt's koala has black ear" are not easily searchable and visible.
But I have to admit that it is a fun quiz, appropriate for celebrating 100th episode and the team that gave us "the light in the tunnel" picking levels that really deserve attention and recognition.
Congratulations to all Spotlight crews, former and current, and thank you very much for all your hard work ! <3

OK sorry for the double post but this is an update!

We've decided to extend the deadline for this contest (and the Tri-sack one) until 30th December. That should give everyone a little extra time to do some research over the holidays. Gives you the perfect excuse for getting out of talking to your relatives or doing the washing up...

I'll update the OP.

EDIT: Anyone who has already submitted an entry can also benefit from the time extension, if they want to, and can submit a new entry at any time up until the new deadline. However, we're happy to stick with the original entries if that's what you prefer.

I don't get why people are complaining.

What people are complaining? I only know of about 2 or so other guys who complained at all about it and it was off this site.

As for my complaints. they mostly were about me not having enough time to enter because I had forgot about the contest until there was only 1 day left. my only other problem was I don't enjoy high score challenges which was more me explaining my personality. And not that I had any actual real problem with it. *mew

Two of the former spotlighters are named after characters from Dr Who:

The Adipose were a race of vaguely humanoid blobs of fat. http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Adipose

The Plasmavores were a race of blood-sucking near-humans. They were commonly criminals, murdering people across the galaxy and drinking their blood. http://tardis.wikia.com/wiki/Plasmavore

Hope that helps!

Actually I'm not familiar with Doctor Who series, that's why I didn't recognize these names.
Thanks.

*struggles with the concept of not being familiar with Doctor Who and gives up*

Sorry I guess that question was a bit obscure... We weren't expecting anyone to get 100% anyway!
