Questions about transferring saves between PS3s

Archive: 6 posts

Ok,

I've searched the FAQs and can't find anything on my specific query.

I'd like to take LBP round to a friend's house to show him. I'd like to be able to show him my WIP levels, show a few of the cool Mm levels and do some demonstrations in create mode.

I don't want to take it round to show him and have to play through all the Mm levels just to get to the ones I like. Also, I don't want to sit through any tutorials in create mode either.

I've put my LBP save data on a USB stick.

So my questions are:

(1) Will the game recognise the save data if I transfer it to my friend's PS3?
(2) If it won't (I guess because of Trophies etc) would it help if I signed in on his PS3 with my PSN ID?

1) Yes, aslong as you have the same version (EU, US....) of the game you'll be fine, but no trophies.
2) although when you log into the PSN with your account there, you will be able to get trophies as that save is linked to that account AFAIK.

Cool, thanks - I'm taking my copy round (he is undecided whether to buy it).

I think I'll have to sign in with my PSN ID because I have the MGS DLC. All my levels I'm working on are using MGS objects, so I think I'll need to login and download the stuff to his PS3.

I think that even if you used your profile on another PS3 you won't be able to earn trophies. If you save at your friend's place, you might not want to put that save back into your PS3 if you don't want to lose the ability to ear trophies.

You definetely use your save only to show your friend some stuff. You can use your save in his profile.

You do.
Your save where you earn trophies is linked to your PSN ID.
Now when you copy it to someone else, it says that you aren't the person that owns the savegame.
But when you login with the ID linked to it, it will recognize it and you can start earning trophies on a different PS3 user.

You can earn trophies on another PS3. The trophies are tied to your PSN, and they read the data off the savegame. So basically, the trophy application makes milestones of your savedata, to prove that you've actually done it all yourself, and not just using someone elses savegame.

You can earn trophies over his, although if you start a new game you won't unlock any of the ones you already have. Your savegame should work fine, although HE can't unlock any trophies on his PSN using your savegame, UNLESS those trophies are a do it once kinda deal, such as sackbird. Play, Create, Share, Booty Master etc WILL NOT WORK.
