How to make the force field work like the hologram(from LBP2) in LBPK.

Hey guys, it's me zzmorg82 here for my FIRST LBPK tutorial. How to make the force field work like the hologram (from LBP2) in LBPK.

First, lay out some force field like this:

I'm going to put some box stickers on mine so you'll see the difference of when I can't drive through and when I can:

Ok, next you're going to take your force field and put a piston above it and tweak it to these settings:

Distance

Distance: 0.1

Start Distance: Start Distance

Timing

Time: 0.1s

Pause: 0.0s

Sync: 0.0s

Motion

Input Action: On/Off

Flipper Type: Off

Acceleration

Curve type extend: Linear

Curve type retract: Linear

Priority: Scenery
-----------------------------------------------------

Priority is important because it allows the force field to be a prop instead of an object, this is what it should look like when you're done:

Now you're done! You can also add your logic to this when you're done. Here's the results:

After:

This tutorial wouldn't exist without iBubek's help. Be sure to give him a thanks.

Attach a piston to forcefield and set it to scenic. It'll now be invisible and have no physics.

I have some LPB2 tutorials in my signature if you want check them out aswell. Have fun creating! :3

Did you set the piston to scenery? Also try it out in play mode.

I did both, BUT I had it attached to a kart. So I don't know if that is the reason it wouldn't work.2012-12-06 23:07:00

To a custom kart? That's probably the reason why. Try making a force field dome to put over the kart instead.

Run it by me again plz. What are the benefits of changing forcefield to hologram? why cant you just use a hologram??Or wont pistons move holograms?2012-12-19 17:34:00

You can't see through hologram.....aaaahhh! (silly me - I always thought you could, if it was set to zero illumination, but I'm obviously wrong) Must go and do some trials. Thanks.Beauty of lbp is ones always learning...then forgetting...then learning again.2012-12-19 18:41:00

It's an easy mistake to make, it works like that in LBP2, after all.2012-12-19 18:50:00

In LBP2 the hologram would be invisible wouldn't it? When everything is set to 0 like future said? I remember using it for custom sackbots and healthbars. It was both invisible and wouldn't collide.2012-12-19 23:19:00

Yes, that's what I was trying to say. In LBP2 hologram turns invisible when black (either 0 brightness or black sticker), but in LBPK it's just black. Not sure if it's a bug or a limitation of the engine, but I suspect it's the latter.2012-12-20 10:09:00
