useless posting

Archive: 7 posts

Hi there,

Why people just post useless post with only thing like
"what he said"

like in here (scroll down a bit) (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=t=7547)

Is this allowed?

If it is, why isnt bumping your topic not allowed?

I know you can delete and repost a post... that will do it..
BUT when you have the first post, and nobody is replying...
and you wanna bump you thread you CAN NOT delete the first post.

Well, there is an infraction penalty for spam or constantly being off topic. Let me quote CC. If you check the quote link it will take you to the moderation system thread.

Spam/Constantly Off Topic / 2 points / 10 Days

That's not enough to silence or ban a person, but if they do it often enough then this will happen.

It's up to a moderator whether they actually give the set penalty though or else just a warning. If you are penalised though and start arguing with the staff, that can result in a further penalty.

As for deleting and reposting for a first post, it's true you cannot "bump" a single post item if you are the original poster. I think elite users and above can delete their own topics, but I don't know of any work around you can do. You could ask one of your friends to post their thoughts I guess.

What I've done in the past is re-edit as necessary a first post, and when I think it's at a point where it would be of interest to someone I PM them to let them know that the post is changed and they might want to know.

I can't suggest much more than that, but other people might have ideas.

The post you are referring to isn't really that useless. It doesn't add any more to the conversation, but it reiterates that he agrees with the quoted poster. "Spam" is more like repeated posting with no substance, or making multiple threads about the same thing in different forums. Something like that isn't considered spam.2009-01-17 21:06:00

I don't see why that would be an offense of any sort.
It's a sign of somebody saying "I thought of that too and was going to say it, so here is some back up incase you don't trust them"
You can't seriously penalize people for not providing replies that aren't up to the standard you desire...

It's just neater to write "what they said" instead of going over the same words as the previous poster.
