After 5 seasons away, we've returned to our original home, here on LBPCentral. Survivor: LBP is a contest based on the TV show Survivor and run in LBP2 and here on Central. In it, I take 16-20 players from the LBP community, split them into teams, and have them compete in challenges built in LBP2. The team that loses a challenge must vote a player out, and the process more or less repeats itself until we get to our big winner. This season, Smurfetta and I will be posting updates about the game in this thread. She'll keep you up to date on scores, twists, voting results, and other major developments. I'll be posting videos and audio clips. I'll be posting recaps where you'll hear from myself, the Survivor staff, and the players in the game. | Season 11 has started. The 16 players made their way to their tribe forums starting on Tuesday night. First off, there are two teams of eight this season. There is no redemption island this season. There are no staff members or former winners secretly in the game under a new identity. For the past few weeks, I've been hyping the two huge twists we had planned for this season. Both twists were revealed to the Survivors on their tribe forums. The first has to do with how the teams were divided. On Kurashiki, we've got 8 female players. On Tenmyouji, we've got 8 male players. Yeah... battle of the sexes. Second, we're introducing a new wrinkle to the game. We're calling it the Prisoner's Dilemma Duel. Prisoner's Dilemma Duels Each player will start off with 5 Prisoner's Dilemma Duel points. Each round, everyone will face off against another player in the game. The two players in a face off will be given a choice to HELP or HURT their face off opponent. They will choose by sending me a PM with their choice. A player's PDD choice will be kept private until a round is over. Depending on the choices made by the players in a face off, 3 things can happen. If both players choose HELP, both players gain 2 PDD points. If both players choose HURT, both players lose 1 PDD point. If one player chooses HELP and the other chooses HURT, the nice person who chose help gets screwed and loses 2 points, and the person choosing to HURT gains 3 points. The players in a face off will be determined by different means throughout the season. The two players with the highest PDD point total at a certain point in the season will face off in a special extra challenge. The winner of this special challenge will win a Hidden Immunity Idol and a $10 PSN Card. However, if at any point a player's PDD point total drops to 0 or below, they'll be immediately eliminated from the game. If a player fails to send in their PDD vote before the deadline, their vote will automatically be set to HELP. However, if both players in a face off both fail to vote, they'll both be immediately eliminated from the game. Reward Challenges This season, the Survivors also have a chance to participate in reward challenges. As a member of the LittleBigReporters I'm all over the place, searching for news and just having a great time. I think people see me as a kind person who loves interacting and working with others. How do you plan on winning? I hope I can make friends in the game, become a friend with people so they don't want to volte me out… I hope. What are your favorite games? Movies? Music? Favorite games would be LittleBigPlanet 2, Unfinished Swan, Journey, Papo & Yo, Portal 2 (loved the cooperative area) and the Ratchet and Clank Series. In the Reward Challenge, players were tasked with creating a flag for their tribe. Each team would have to choose one submission to be judged by the Survivor staff. The winning tribe would get an advantage in the second immunity challenge. On Tenmyouji, Shoutvik kicked things off. I did a flag but I think if we all make a flag and post them all here we can see and vote together as a team as what flag we would like to send to the judges. | Immunity Challenge #1 In this challenge, a player from each team will face off. The goal of this challenge is to collect green balls from the end of a platforming course and toss them up into your tribe's tree. Kurashiki's tree is blue, Tenmyouji's tree is red. Each face off will last for ten minutes. The first player to get three balls in their tribe's tree, or the player with the most balls in their tribe's tree at the end of the ten minutes will get a point for their team. The team with the most points will win tribal immunity and be safe from the first round's elimination vote. Here's how this is going to work. Players will get a grabinator and have to cross a series of platforming obstacles to get to a tree at the end. Under the tree are 5 green balls. Grab one and make your way back to the trees at the start. If you fall off any of the platforming obstacles, you'll end up in some water. Since water removes grabinators, you'll need to make your way back to the start of the course to re-equip one. Also, if a ball falls off any of the platforms, it will dissolve and respawn under the tree at the end. Once you're back at the two tribe trees, use the bounce pad to launch yourself up and toss the ball up onto your tribe's tree. The Survivors had to join a staff member to play this challenge and each only had one chance to complete the challenge. Immunity Challenge #1 ended Friday night @ 8PM Eastern. Elimination and Prisoner's Dilemma Duel votes for this round were due by 11PM Eastern on Friday night. Here are the results: Round 1: BigGamerClaire76 from Kurashiki Tribe got one ball in SuperJurno from Tenmyouji Tribe who got two balls in before the time ran out. One point for team Tenmyouji!! In round 2, argetlam350 took on vocaloid11. Both players gave each other plenty of space, yet for most of the challenge, both had trouble getting a ball past the first set of obstacles. vocaloid11 managed to make the first solid bit of progress, getting a ball to the last set of obstacles as argetlam350 was passing by. She managed to pass by without any hindrance, and put the only ball collected by either player into Kurashiki's tree. vocaloid11 defeats argetlam350 1 ball - 0. The teams are tied at 1 point and two balls each! In round 3, jowife1993 took on vikster. Both made pretty solid advances towards the end of the course. jowife1993 accidentally sent vikster up to the easy path a few times, but he didn't gain too much of an advantage as both players only scored 1 ball each before time expired. In overtime, neither player managed to score another ball. Both teams are still tied. Both have 1 point, and now both have 3 balls. In round 4, Evertone22 took on GamerSack345. Both players played a lot of defense and kept each other from gaining too much ground. Near the end of their ten minute play period, Evertone22 managed to toss a ball onto one of the middle platforms before falling into the water. GamerSack345 took advantage and made his way to the trees as the final few seconds ticked down. He took multiple shots at his tree, but failed to make it in. The main period ended in a 0-0 tie. In overtime, neither player managed to make a ball into their tree. The teams are STILL tied. Both have 1 point, and both still have 3 balls. In round 5, YouthForever took on Totallysexy. Quite a lot of lag in this one but all credit to the players, they stuck with it. Both players continually fell into the water, threw each other into the water.. or dragged each other into the water. Totallysexy managed to sneak a ball across at the half way point while YouthForever was swimming. Totallysexy scored one point and won the round. Tenmyouji takes the lead with one win and one ball ahead! Round 6 SuperTwinBros for Tenmyouji Vs. NikkiEatsWorld for Kurashiki In a strange turn of events, Super did not attempt to grab any balls, instead just concentrated on keeping Nikki from scoring. Later in my pod, when questioned about his strategy, he explained his R1 was not working. He did succeed in preventing a score. Final 0 to 0. Tenmyouji is still ahead by one win and one ball. Round 7 Ykurosakinyan vs. Night Angel Both players quickly made it to the end of the course on their first attempt, but neither had much success in getting any balls back to their trees. They both mostly left each other alone until one instance when Night Angel was trying to bring a ball back to his tree and Ykurosakinyan was about to cross his path en route to a getting a ball. She tossed him and he managed to land on the upper path. He took the ball all the way across the upper path and tossed it into Tenmyouji's tree. No other balls were successfully collected before time expired.... Night Angel won a point for Tenmyouji Tenmyouji - 3 Points Kurashiki - 1 Point Only one matchup remained, that meant that no matter the outcome of that last matchup... Tenmyouji Wins Immunity! Tenmyouji is safe from the vote this round Kurashiki needs to vote a player out. | I really liked watching the recording of the first Immunity Challenge. The challenge style and level design felt like classic Survivor LBP and I think it was a great choice to manage/set the expectations of the players. I can just imagine people as they fall for the first time on the path to the balls, or even as they carry a ball back and fall down, thinking, "Seriously?!?! I have to go all the way back and start over?!!!" Great work with the recap video! It is something that really helps keep the viewers keyed in with what is going on and would really help show outsiders what the game is really like when you are in the thick of things. It should help a lot to convince first timers to join in future seasons. Looking forward to seeing how things shake out in future challenges. | Right off of what Trindall said, I love watching the challenge matches and reading up on whats going on. It makes me feel like Im still participating by just following along. In that first Immunity challenge, seeing the frustration given off by those players was actually pretty humorous to watch. This is challenge one, and its only going to get harder. You can't always blame lag for your defeat, that ends up biting you in the butt. Fasten down the latches and face whats coming to you. In both videos there seemed to missed opportunities; letting the opposing player waltz on by with the ball, and failing to take advantage of a ball that was practically given to you. Seeing the results of the first round of the "prisoner's dillema" was very interesting. The first couple of guys were trying to be gentlemen by HELPING while the girls were only HURTING, funny stuff. But by the end, some players actually reaped the reward of working together. I just wonder how all these choices will pan out for each player. Now Rad, I gotta say that your "Welcome Speech" gave me shivers. You were always an intimidating figure to preform challenges with, but you always speak the truth. This is an extremely demanding game, and you have to put your best foot forward to succeed. Those who don't give that extra effort, whether in challenges or on the forums, are trimmed out of the game. I didn't always enjoy what the game had to offer, but its all part of the grander scheme of things. Survivor is like a rollercoaster ride, you have your ups and downs, but after its over you realized it wasn't so bad and you want ride again. | Round 1 Elimination Voting Results... Ykurosakinyan has been eliminated. Immunity Challenge #2 Immunity Challenge 2 is a team create challenge. Create challenges in our game are inspired by the mad rush with which the challenges in the earliest seasons were created. Lack of preparation in season 1 led to most challenges being made the night before they were played. You all get to build with similarly constrictive time restrictions. Specifically, you have until 5PM Eastern on Sunday to have your level completed and posted. Each team will only submit one challenge. As for what to build... Build a challenge featuring polystyrene balls. You've all been sent a sample of what I'm talking about - it's the default circle shape of polystyrene. Polystyrene balls figure prominently in many of Survivor: LBP's challenges, so I figured it was time to feature them as the theme of a create challenge. When played, your challenge needs to be able to give some sort of quantifiable results that would produce a winner and a loser(s). You could make something head to head. You could make something where players go for a high score and have their scores compared to everyone else. You could make some sort of race to complete a task. Whatever you want. Levels will be judged based on visuals, functionality, fun factor, and creativity. In order to submit your level, publish it and post a lbp.me link to it in this thread. If you choose to lock it, be sure to send a sharable key to all staffers. Please write a short post detailing the creation process. Include how the idea came about, the division of labor, and what you all did to get to your end results. Also include rules or instructions because if we can't figure out what we're supposed to be doing, don't expect positive judging results. All of this needs to be online by 5PM Eastern on Sunday. Failure to do so will count as an automatic loss. Judges will have results by 10AM Eastern on Monday. Votes will be due by 11PM Eastern on Monday night. Good luck. In this challenge, players will need to arrange 16 polystyrene balls in the correct order on a 4 x 4 grid. In order to tell what the correct order is, you'll be shown 3 partially filled in grids. The partially filled grids will each have a few balls corresponding to the 16 balls on the ground. Use what you see in the first three grids to fill in the completely empty fourth grid. Immunity Challenge #5 In this challenge, each tribe will send in two separate teams to play. Each team will have either two or three players. No player may play twice. Not all players will play this round. The teams 2 or 3 will work together in a race to complete a series of tasks as quickly as possible. First, players will be presented with a bunch of red, blue, and green point bubbles. You'll need to collect all of the red and blue bubbles without touching any green ones. Touch a green one and all collected bubbles reappear. Have all of the red and blue bubbles collected at the same time to advance to the second section. In section two, you'll see a series of grids like in the memory challenge. You'll see that each grid has a red circle, a blue circle, and a green circle. Look at how the position of each colored circle changes from grid to grid. Find the pattern for each color and place the red, blue, and green balls in the correct spots on the empty fourth grid. Correctly arrange them to open up the third section. In the third section, you'll need to solve a math problem related to the course. Use the numbered balls to enter your answer in the answer holder. If the answer is only 2 digits long, put a 0 in the first spot. Answer correctly to move to the final section. In the final section, use the same set of number balls from section 3 to answer another problem related to the course. You may need to move balls from the first answer holder to the second. Correctly answer the second problem to open a way to the finish line. Instead of an in-game clock, we'll be timing you using stopwatches. You have up to 20 minutes to finish this. Time starts as soon as you get through the starting gate, and it ends when all players cross the finish line. The tribe with the fastest total time will win. There may be two slightly altered courses... Runs must be done with a staff member. No player can play more than once. Runs can be done up through Tuesday night @ 9PM Eastern. Results: Puttatittut and BigGamerClaire were the first team to attempt this challenge. Working very well as a team they finished in a time of 10:24 for Team Kurashiki. Evertone and YouthForever had a bit of a difficult start with the bubbles, but moved on quickly. Youth was crushed by one of the balls and lost valuable time. Their final time was 11:40 making the total for Team Kurashiki 22:04. Argetlam and TotallySexy did the challenge next...They made pretty quick work of the bubbles and worked well together on the grid. Got some math wrong, but sorted it all out. In the end they managed to finish with a time of 11:50 for Team Tenmyouji. ShoutVik vs Chatchito, finished with a time of 10:21. The final time for Tenmyouji Tribe is 22:11. The final time for Kurashiki Tribe is 22:04. Kurashiki wins Immunity Challenge #5!!! REWARD CHALLENGE #2 Time for another create challenge. This time out, you'll need to build a platformer. Visuals will not be judged at all. We're only looking for playability, functionality, fun factor, and originality. Community objects and any of your saved captured objects will not be allowed. Pre-made logic and glitches will not be allowed. Oh, and you'll only get 8 minutes to build. Each of you will need to join a staffer for this one. Once you do, they'll take you into an empty level on their moon. Once you're ready, time will start. You'll then need to build a platforming course as quickly as possible. Once again, don't focus on visuals as you'll barely have enough time to put even the most simple level together. You need to join a staff member for this challenge. Builds runs must be done by 9PM Eastern on Tuesday. Judging results will be up as soon as we have them. The winner for this round gets: - A single piece of DLC costing $5.99 or less from the US gamestop.com store. - A clue to the hidden immunity idol. - The right to choose all pairings in the next PDD round. - An extra $100 in fictional Survivor auction currency. Good luck. Results: Those who took on the challenge mostly made solid efforts. In the end, judging came down to two players - BigGamerClaire76 and jowife1993. Both had a lot of gameplay compared to the rest of the entries. Claire had a little more, while jowife's seemed to be a bit more creative and accomplished a bit more with the time provided. Immunity Challenge #6 This challenge is a three player co-op challenge. Each tribe will need to assemble one three player team. Once assembled, the 3P team will take on the course. In the course, players will need to use grabinators to get 9 foam balls to the far side of a pit. In the pit are a series of moving platforms that will help with the move. Each of the 9 balls has a different number on it. On the far side of the pit are 3 baskets with a number floating over it. The goal of this challenge is to put 3 balls into each of the baskets so that when the numbers on the balls in a basket are added, they'll add up to the number floating above the basket. For example.... If the nine balls had the following numbers: 1, 2, 3, 10, 11, 12, 20, 30, 31 And the 3 baskets had the following numbers floating above them: 6, 33, and 81 Players would need to put the 1, 2, and 3 ball into the 6 basket, the 10, 11, and 12 ball into the 33 basket, and the 20, 30, and 31 balls into the 81 basket. Numbers will be different in the level.There needs to be 3 balls in each basket for the exit to open. Arrange the balls correctly to open up a path to the exit. A team's time ends once the last active player passes through the finish gate. Players will be timed with a stopwatch. The fastest tribe wins. Players will play with a vs. camera. If a ball falls into the pit, it will respawn at the start. Players have unlimited lives. Players need to join a staffer to play. I advise setting an appointment if you're particular about what team you want to use. Runs must be done by 9PM Eastern on 12/21. Votes this round will be due by 11PM Eastern on 12/21. Good luck. Most of the course is fairly self-explanatory. Some minor tweaks have been made to certain sections for the sake of playability. Results: Per usual, the judging wasn't an easy process... There were some really, really different kind of levels made by all of you. Some really stuck to what happened on the show, some took a lot of room for interpretation. In the end, there were 3 that we were torn between... Jowife1993 Niki Puttatittut Jowife1993's was pretty true to the source material, looked great, followed the directions about keeping the visuals in line with the S11 challenges, and had a great puzzle. Niki's was fast, fun, and very much in the spirit of many of the challenges I tend to make. Only part of it resembled the challenge it was based on, but the fact that it was fun and completely functional meant a lot. Puttatittut's was pretty close to the source material, used a lot of official Survivor decorations and kept the visuals in line, and had some great cross controller stuff going on including a great closing puzzle, and despite the cross controller pack being fairly new... everything worked perfectly. | Round 9 Elimination Voting Results... Night Angel has been eliminated and becomes the second member of the Jury. IMMUNITY CHALLENGE #10 Remember those questions I asked all of you via PM? Those questions about what you thought about everyone else? In this challenge, you'll have to guess what were the most common answers among the eight players who answered. When in the level, you'll be asked 10 of those questions one at a time. The staffer taking you into the level will either type or speak the question to you. Each question's possible answers are represented by a row of platforms - 1 with each player's name. You won't be told which answers are correct or incorrect while you play. After the 10 questions, you'll have to take on a platforming course. Some will keep bombs from raining down from the sky. Some will turn off hazards. Players will be timed with a stopwatch. Fastest time through wins. Players only get one chance to make it through the question section. No do-overs for accidental answers, so be careful. Players will have unlimited lives and a handful of checkpoints on the platforming course. I've tested the course with ALL hazards on and still managed to finish with over 50000 left on the clock, so no 0 scores please. Runs must be done with a staffer. IMMUNITY CHALLENGE #13 In this challenge, your goal is grab a paintinator, cross a large body of water, and shoot a wooden ball dangling in the air on the other side of the water. Shoot the ball enough to open up access to a finish gate. 30 direct hits should do. Cross the gate to stop the clock and get your score... As for how you'll be crossing the water without losing your paintinator... There are 9 grabbable bounce pads tethered to the ground underwater. Grab one and it will float to the surface. You'll need to arrange the bouncepads so that they'll create a path on which you'll be able to bounce on from one shore to the other without getting wet. | Round 13 Elimination Voting Results... (with some details) At the vote there was a tie between jowife and Argetlam, this is how it all went down: Jowife1993 and argetlam350 met in my pod for a trivia contest of sorts... Those questions you all answered about each other - jo and arg were asked how they though individual players answered certain questions. They had to race to type their answer. The first to give a correct answer would get a point. The first to 5 points would be safe. Jo took an early lead, getting 4 points before arg got his first. Then both players stopped answering anything correctly... Eventually, after almost exhausting all possible questions, jowife managed to get a 5th point and eliminate argetlam. Argetlam has been eliminated and becomes the sixth member of the Jury. IMMUNITY CHALLENGE #14 In the final immunity challenge, all 3 finalists will play together at the same time! They'll be racing to get to the end of a mostly flat course. On the course are a handful of electrified rectangles shooting back and forth. The electric rectangles get faster and faster as players get closer to the finish gate. Players will be playing with a co-op camera. Players will die a lot. A lot a lot. Since players are using the co-op camera, if two players die, the third will have an unimpeded chance to finish the course. Players will not have to wait for other players. As soon as someone is active, they can go ahead and race for the goal. Players may taunt, distract, grab, slap... Just about anything short of glitching or disconnecting. The first player to get through the finish gate will win and guarantee their spot in the finals. Players have 20 minutes to make it through. If no player has won within the 20 minute limit, we'll go to sudden death where each player will have one unimpeded attempt at the course, with the player who goes furthest winning. The winner will also have the honor of deciding who the final person eliminated is going to be. Voting will happen on the spot as soon as the challenge ends. I'll do a brief preview of the course before we begin, so don't worry too much if my instructions are as obtuse as ever... Results: THE FINALE!!!!! After the challenge ends, everyone should head over to playstation home. Gamegirl has sent invites to everyone. Please make sure you can get into the club room before we begin. When we're in the club room, there will be assigned seating for all finalists and jury members. We'll begin by having the finalists talk to the jury and staff about why they should win. | WINNER - LBP SURVIVOR SEASON 11 Everyone met up in Playstation Home. The final challenge had just been played by Jowife, Puttatittut and Chatchito. Chatchito won the final challenge! As the winner he was awarded the chance to vote out either Jowife or Puttatittut. He asked some questions to the finalists and eventually made his decision. It was a hard one but he decided to vote out Jowife since she had played Survivor many times before and would hopefully be able to go further and/or even win the next season she plays. The Jury and staff asked the final two (Chatchito and Puttatittut) various questions. The answers to these questions would help the Jury decide who they want to win the competition. After all the questions were asked and the finalists had a chance to make a final statement as to why they feel they should win the competition, mr Radical asked the Jury members to send in their votes in a PM right there on the PSN! While we waited for the votes to be submitted we learned that hugs were more valuable than turtles (since they can't hug) lol. After a few mins, all the votes were in and it was time to announce the winner! This was one of the closest votes in LBP Survivor Finale history! Five votes were submitted from the jury . . . | Congrats Chatchito! Putt, I was happy to see you make it all the way to end Jo, you were so close! I hate to see anyone in that position, but the final three is win in itself. Oh Arget, what happened? I was rooting for you and Vik since the beginning and I can honestly say you guys didn't disappoint. Nikki, thanks for fighting in the name of Icey lol I know you weren't.(Rad, Girl, Smurf, and Fat) You guys are the real winners when a season comes to end. All your efforts put forth in providing such a challenging and enjoyable experience become realized. Rad, what you do, you do best. It amazes me that you can continue to surprise and come up with such innovative twists and turns for the players. I don't know how you guys do it so well, but I really respect you all for it.
