Operation Forward

Archive: 1 post

Ok i have enoth of this problem of people can't be in same pod, when one joins other is kicked out, time to solve this once and for all.

My susption is that this is caused from fact that LBP is game that uses P2P to multiplayer, which means console does not connect to server for multiplayer but consoles connect each other, so one console act as server the rest are conencting to him or they all shere game state in non centric mather. As your your console act as a server (btw, for TCP/IP networks server is software not hardware), there need to be ability to connect to your console and as most people use routers now days, they block access to your PS3 from Internet which makes impossible other consoel to conenc to your console. In order to fix that you need to do so called port forwarding (each network device beside IP address have so called ports, which is number that help identify which data is responsible for specific service, for example when you connecting to website your computer connects to port 80 of the server so server knows that you want HTTP). To do so you need to dive in to your router configuration... but don't worry there a nice help, go to this website:

http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm

Choose you router model, then it will ask for what service you want to forward ports, pick "PS3 LittleBigPlanet 2" and follow the instructions.

There also other solution, explore router configuration and try to find UPnP configuration and turn it on, thanks to that PS3 will be able to forward port by it self.

There also other possible cause of this problem, which is your internet IP address is not public IP (you shere IP address with others and router gets ip for internet (WAN) that starts with 192.168.* or 10.0.*), in this case it can't be helped other way then changing ISP (which in such i recommend to do so lol).

To check if you done this good, go to PS3's Internet Test and check if it shows NAT Type 2 (or 1 but that would mean you connected PS3 directly to internet) if it's 3 it means it's bad

I don't know if this is cause of a this problem, but even if not this configuration should fix lot of your networking problems in LBP
