I really only just copied real music and put it into the game. Recently, I've begun composing my own music, since I've become more experienced with music theory and such. I'll first have you know that I'm not the greatest composer ever. I'm 15 and literally only know scales, triads, 7ths, and basic chord progressions. Luckily, I have good relative pitch, so I can tell if anything doesn't sound right. So, if something doesn't sound right to you, that's how I wanted it to be. I'm most familiar with C major, D major, F major, and Bb major (along with their relative keys), so most of my music will be written mainly in those. That's all I really have to say.
