Holigram wall problem

Archive: 6 posts

Obviously, Hologram material goes through anything. I put tags on the walls and a impact sensor on my hologram material which feeds through selector input 1 which also has a Mover which is set to stop it from moving.
my problem is that I want It to stop moving when it hits a wall. But currently it will hit the wall but will still allow me to move my hologram material through walls. What should I do?

I also don't want to change the material because It is currently a animated character.

Make sure your impact sensor is set to "include touching" enabled, since hologram won't register as an impact otherwise.

It's hard to tell what's wrong without an image of your logic.

"Include touching" isn't necessary, hologram will still register impacts, even with other holograms. This tutorial (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7bDwFkErto&list=UUZ_APWyCxObg1sx1IpB6Lxw&index=26&feature=plcp) is for limiting the movement of objects to a bounding box, which is useful for objects that normally won't collide. Watch it and follow the instructions and you should be good. Shrinking dark matter until its invisible and attaching it around your hologram is another alternative that can work, too.

You can also make holograms solid to other materials, except for sackboy himself. Just create the hologram object, place an unprotected brain on it, unpause. jump on the brain. The moment you do, pause again, and select/copy the object before it disappears. You now have a hologram object that other materials can't pass thru, but sackboy can. Remember, once you put the brain on it, it is affected by gravity, so you'll want to place an anti-gravity tweaker on it.

This is great for making secret passages and pitfalls, because you can do this on any material. You can make a stone wall that sackboy can walk right thru.

Odd, because it always has been for me.

Maybe try increasing the power of the wall impact mover. Try at super high settings first, maybe 100% accel, 100% decel, and like 20 speed. Also, if your player mover is at 100% acceleration, it will cancel out all other movers.

However, if you're using an animated character, bouncing off hologram walls isn't really a good option in my opinion. Maybe for space shooters so that it won't get off screen, but if you're planning to use a lot of walls, hologram impacts is kind of a bad option. I know how logic makes everything more custom but just use cardboard, and then hide it. If it's a top down sort of thing, attach some invisible material.

But why selector inputs? That might be your problem, it seems like an odd choice for wall bouncing. I agree with BigGamerer, just follow the tutorial and compare what you currently have.
