While this is stuff I know, I'm sure this will encourage new creators to go to new genres beyond racing. 2012-11-29 23:42:00

Cool tutorial! I am not planning to create a FPS, but out of curiousity, is there a way to add strafing movement? Is there a way to look and fire up and down? I am working on a battle arena and there are definitely some fun tools. The weapon editor is fantastic! You can create weapons that eject from weapons. I do wish there was a way to create unique random weaponizers in an arena. As it stands right now, you can either have a random weaponizer or a specific select weaponizer. It would be cool if you could have a random weaponizer that draws from the entire list of weapons and another random weaponizer that selects only two or three weapons from that list.

If you really want to create maps for a FPS, I would recommend FarCry 3, the editor looks awesome, and FarCry 2 has the best 3D editor I have played on a console to date.

heya, I think you can tweak the randomizer to only use specific weapons - you fill the slots with the weapons you want and then adjust the % chance of each one occuring. In regards to strafing, I couldnt find any simple way of doing it, but I wondered if you could attach the camera to a piece of sponge and just move that around - but I havent looked to see if we have the right movers and rotators to make that possible.

..and thanks for the heads up on the far cry editor - I'm mainly a PC gamer so I will have a look at some point. I wasnt really trying to make anything serious in the tutorial, just show off some possibilities. I would like to have a go at making some sort of open world adventure in karting at some point.

You can tweak the randomizer, but the tweaks carryover to every weapon randomizer on the map. I was wishing that you could set something like below up: "randomizer 1" would have weapons a, b, c, & d; and "randomizer 2" only has weapons b & d. That way you could make some spots on the map more desirable to explore for weapons without completely throwing off the balance of the game.

A sponge (or whatever) with a rotator and 4 thrusters will definitely work. I don't know if adding thrusters to a spawn point would enable strafing... or if it would just make you spawn from somewhere else on the map.

I have 2 issues.

1. I want the players to score points for destroying targets as well as other players. I have a blast sensor attached to a score giver, these are attached to the individual targets, but when the targets are hit, the blast sensor doesn't register the hit. I'm using the same green rocket you used in your video, and I turned the Wall Rebounds to 0.

2. I can't turn the engine sound off. I have it off in the Handling Tweaker, but the sound is still there.

I can't help you with the first problem but regarding the engine sound you can turn it off in the environment settings (don't know if that's the name of it) it's in your popit in the lower right corner. go to sounds and there should be a setting about engine sounds...
