Sack Raider: The Gauntlets of Power (1 player)
Archive: 23 posts
hey, I have 1 LBP2 level created a long time ago, it took me 3 months (of course not non-stop) to make it. I'm pretty proud of it but hardly anyone played it, so I would love it if some of you played it and tell me here (or in a review at the level) what I do right and what I do wrong, I'm not asking for likes or hearts (of course if you think the level deserves them, then give them, but otherwise: no), hopefully you enjoy it! Level description: it's a tomb raider inspired level with a little story in it, a lot of platforming, but also some puzzles and a little stealth gameplay (not very deep, but pretty cool if you ask me), there is also a boss battle which I think is pretty fun, nothing ground-breaking, but I think it's a solid level, 1 advice though, don't skip the text that sackbots Zip and Allister tell you, because sometimes it's important, because else you won't understand what to do to proceed! Have fun! (to find my level, text search my name, the level is in Australia, the only LBP2 level) EDIT: on advice I have the links posted too now I can start out doing 10 F4F http://lbp.me/v/yq70hj Sack Raider: The Gauntlets of Power (http://lbp.me/v/yq70hj) A Tomb Raider inspired story with a lot of platforming. It has a little thinking to it too, with a bit of stealthy gameplay and a puzzle. Also it has a neat little boss fight and it ends with a cutscene, I think it's a fun adventure to play. It took me 3 months to make this level, which is mostly because I had to learn how it all worked, but it is not crap that I made in 1 day and published Anyway, only a few people played it, so I am wondering what I did wrong, perhaps people got stuck somewhere, I am assuming it's the difficulty, so in your feedback please say what exactly you think is wrong with the level and while playing, look for places where people might get stuck, I am willing to give feedback on your level of choice too, for now I will give 10 people feedback, as a start, I'm ready to give more but I don't really know how this system works and all, so I'll start with 10 for now, I've no idea how many I get, I expect not much, but how should I know! http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=43116&d=1354385142 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=43118&d=1354385676 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=43119&d=1354385676 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=43120&d=1354385677 http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=43121&d=1354385678 43116 43118 43119 43120 43121 | 2012-11-29 02:00:00 Author: Unknown User |
Have fun! (to find my level, text search my name, the level is in Australia, the only LBP2 level) That's sooo LBP1. Nowadays we have LBP.me so just provide a level link and people can queue it from there. Easy peasy. Got it queued and Here's your link http://lbp.me/v/yq70hj Also, you should head on over to the Introduce Yourselves (http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?6-Introduce-Yourselves) section of the site and say howdy to the community. Welcome aboard. | 2012-11-29 04:38:00 Author: biorogue Posts: 8424 |

Yay! This is a fantastic adventure trip I like the gameplay and especially this passage with the fire and the water sackbot Cool story, pretty LBP1 style, nice sackbot animation, funny gameplay = great adventure | 2012-12-01 11:14:00 Author: avundcv Posts: 2526 |

Anyway, thanks for the feedback | 2012-12-01 16:20:00 Author: Unknown User |
A decent set up to a level, and I understand the 'LBP1 feel' the level is very open and there is a lot of open sections that seem a little sparse, as in there is little in the way of decorations. The big arrows also have a LBP1 feel, as does the use of notes for signage (although notes are from LBP2). Looking at little design choices like this would give a more immersive feel. Using lighting and camera angles to show where the next jump is would help. Having big buttons and switches on the wall is also a 'LBP1 feel' as you can use custom logic instead. Other than that you have a solid level that flows pretty well, with the only criticism of this is the flat Mario feel the level has, the platforms are very Mario looking, and may look more realistic with some more decorations, shapes etc. Also you have neglected to use tweakers to deactivate the grab-ability of the floor, again, not having this setup adds to a LBP1 vibe. Hope this helps... I see that you have played some other F4F stages and I hope that my feedback helps you out, be sure to update your level title to include F4F also... You are very welcome to give feedback on the level in my signature if you have the time | 2012-12-02 01:07:00 Author: Mr_Fusion Posts: 1799 |

You are very welcome to give feedback on the level in my signature if you have the time I used the notes on purpose, it needed to be like rules for the soldiers in the camp, I thought it looked pretty cool. I use a lot of camera angles to show places you need to go, and also lights in the dark section of the level. However those arrows are a lazy solution, I thought people might get stuck and just pointed arrows in the direction they needed to go, thought it looked cool as decoration also, so I didn't really mind, but I have to look into that, thanks Oh, and I love those switches and buttons, I know they are LBP1 looking, but what alternative do I have? you say custom logic? what is custom logic? (I know what logic is, I used it a lot in the level, but what is custom logic? ) The platforms are indeed pretty flat, I like to create them that way though, and I think it gives a certain style to the level, I do agree that I have to throw in more shapes in more natural environments. Thanks for the tip of the tweaker, I didn't use it before, but I wanted to have this grass grabable for the grapple at some places in the level to make it less frustrating when you fall, so that was on purpose I'll indeed haven't opted for F4F in this thread, because I didn't knew that it excisted when I created it, however I am willing to play your level and feedback on it to, but now I don't have the time to play it, I'll queue it and play it later, you'll here from me soon enough. | 2012-12-02 03:01:00 Author: Unknown User |
The LBP1 one feel isn't specifically a negative thing, I just tried to highlight the sections that gave this feeling as others mentioned it, and you asked for clarity | 2012-12-02 03:38:00 Author: Mr_Fusion Posts: 1799 |
The LBP1 one feel isn't specifically a negative thing, I just tried to highlight the sections that gave this feeling as others mentioned it, and you asked for clarity Yes that's true, but I do consider it a negative thing though, and it's good feedback! Because I wasn't aware that it may seem to people that I haven't put enough time in decorating the level using LBP2 tools. I'll just wanted to explain what my reasons for it were, but next time I don't have to create it the way I want, but the way the community wants, so I have to improve on that point, thanks again for the feedback | 2012-12-02 10:00:00 Author: Unknown User |
Hey man I'm feeling pretty stupid right now, as I cannot figure out the military base part. I just can't get that first circuit board in section 1. The first guard wont move, I've tried everything. I've even got the second guard to chase me, jumped over his head and then down to the plasma cannon guy. I got past him and picked up the community object, but then was boosted back up to where I was stumped before. How do you get that first guard off the switch? | 2012-12-02 19:15:00 Author: Unknown User |

How do you get that first guard off the switch? whenever you are spotted you have to escape the military base, so go back to zip, he can also give you tips, one of them is: try slapping the first guard of the edge but there are more tips so you might have missed it, anyway, climb up to him and slap him (R2 + left stick quickly from left to right) of the edge, no need to feel stupid for it though, I've seen more people getting stuck there, I should change such things in future levels | 2012-12-03 00:46:00 Author: Unknown User |
It was dope! You should have used a controllable sackbot though because you could have animated in some new moves! But i loved the small puzzles! Heck i even want to ask you to help me create some cool puzzles! Anyway keep it up! Oh also you should have some patrolling enemies as well to up the stealth part! | 2012-12-03 02:04:00 Author: Unknown User |

I tried patrolling enemy's, but the logic in that part of the level is pretty complex, so I got stuck there and kept it simple, next time I'm going to try it again though I'm always happy to help, if you have an idea for a puzzle, but don't know how to work it out, feel free to invite me anyway, this is Feedback 4 Feedback after all, do you have any level you want me to play and give feedback on? | 2012-12-03 11:25:00 Author: Unknown User |
I'm probably not the best person to review platformers for two reasons: 1) I genuinely enjoy almost every platformer I've ever played in LBP and 2) I couldn't make a decent platforming level to save my life. With that in mind, here are some of my thoughts: I liked how the fort was pretty open and not so linear, but I would've liked to see this elaborated upon with more purpose to the various hidden pathways. For example, shortcuts and networks around more difficult areas or secret items that make defeating guards easier. I was also surprised to see that it was first published and last updated over a year ago. Are you planning on updating it or making the sequel soon? | 2012-12-04 00:54:00 Author: Rainbro Dash Posts: 121 |

I took a big brake from LBP2 when the community started spamming levels, and I couldn't find the good levels anymore, also I created 3 months on my level, and hardly anyone played it, so I was a little dissapointed with that, I played a lot of Uncharted 2 and Uncharted 3 after that, but now I wanted to go back to LBP2, and am currently working on a sequel, it may take a while though until I finish it | 2012-12-04 20:01:00 Author: Unknown User |

I liked this level. Just from playing it, it is obvious you put a lot of time and effort into this. I like the use of layers and having to move the player in and out of them. I also like the way the level builds up to a climax and the creative use of bounce pads. The use of camera angles is okay except it seem that the zoom and angle are a little too exagerated, but thats just my opinion and not a fact. Also, (and this isnt a flaw but a setting adjustment) the sackbot in the beginning repeats himself over several times like when i walked back past him to push the block or go the other direction to see what was that way. The level looks nice too. Overall, a great level. | 2012-12-05 15:57:00 Author: elfmirfkin Posts: 26 |
I updated the level so it can be played by multiple players, can you tell me if you run into any trouble with this, I couldn't test it properly on my own | 2012-12-08 12:02:00 Author: Unknown User |
Looks great! Qd it will edit this post later. f4f Aztec Jungle Gold Hunters https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=76272-Aztec-Jungle-Gold-Hunters EDIT ok I found some friends to go through this level with, and we all found it plenty of fun and quite different from usual exploration levels. The map was fun to explore and the bots were funny and acted with good AI. As you can tell from my recent level, like yourself I used some complete changes of scenery and environment within the same level so I appreciate the challenges this can bring. Overall, great work and well done btw my level can be played solo its versus for the cameras only. | 2012-12-08 15:38:00 Author: Tanuki75 Posts: 172 |
Looks great! Qd it will edit this post later. f4f Aztec Jungle Gold Hunters I saw your level was a versus one, but I don't have anyone to play it with, I want to play it for you, so when you're online, invite me and I'll play it with you, ok? | 2012-12-10 03:03:00 Author: Unknown User |
Overall, I think that this level is well designed and has good ideas. I wasn't able to finish the level, maybe it's just me but one area in particular was too difficult to pass. It wasn't very clear how to proceed despite the arrows. I'm talking about the area with the sequenced fire and jets of water. Although this level is well designed, visually it wasn't that interesting. Maybe try some different decorations and design, and make it slightly easier. | 2012-12-15 22:41:00 Author: Bluephantom575 Posts: 142 |
You can play it on your own if you like - it's only versus for the camera logic! | 2012-12-16 14:29:00 Author: Tanuki75 Posts: 172 |
You can play it on your own if you like - it's only versus for the camera logic! ok, will play it today! @bluephantom575 you have to move first to the left to avoid the fire, then run to the right to avoid getting pushed into the spikes by the water, and then you have to move left again to avoid the fire, then if you run to the right (which I expected players to do), a cutscene will appear, I think the arrows are actually confusing here, thanks for the feedback, I'll think I go remove them, because those arrows are actually for after the cutscene | 2012-12-17 08:17:00 Author: Unknown User |
