Been asked before by some. there is not much point and it would create some problems for the forum like how it would be hardish for the Mods to watch over it all the time. My advice is to use twitter when you are in a chatty mood instead. nice part is you can chat with LBP players from everywhere. not just the people from this forum. *mew

Twitter isn't a chat client, that won't work very well. Who cares? Works fine for me + it was just advice. I talk on Twitter almost just like i would in a chat room close to everyday.

How odd. I use it as a micro-blog, which is twitter's primary function. I couldn't imagine trying to chat with it, since it's not real-time. I also have email notifications on for various reasons, so if I tried to use it in that way my inbox would be bogged with tons of spam.

since it's not real-time. Well every 2 mins it'll tell you if there is new tweets on your feed. so if you just leave your home page feed up you'll know if there are new messages pretty quick. it's really only a tiny bit slower to chat this way then using a normal chat room. *mew

The idea is still on the table, mind you, but as of right now I have no specific plans to implement anything like that. Many of the older forum users I'm sure remember all the problems that we had with Arrowchat - I'd rather not relive that pain if we can avoid it. I'm a big fan of Twitter myself, and I find it works beautifully as a chat client. I use Tweetbot on my iPhone/iPad and it's basically real-time - there isn't a two minute lag associated with it like on twitter.com. I used to do the same thing, and I also had MMS notifications turned on for pretty much everybody. Even when I wasn't using Twitter all that much it became super annoying, so I turned everything off. I tweet pretty much constantly throughout the day now and I can't even imagine what it would be like to have notifications on. I'd say the vast majority of people disable them.

Yeah, twitter works great, much better than a chat and you can filter who you want to talk with, unlike chats. That's true, if you're talking about IRC-style chat rooms, but you don't need to worry about that type of thing with something like Skype or Windows Live Messenger. :3
