Hello and welcome to Episode 99 of LBPCentral's Community Spotlight! We're truly excited over at Spotlight Central to see the beginning of:

A New Era! ! !

. . . erm, we split our post up a bit, did you notice? :3

Since the arrival of the Karting Spotlight (who are fitting in really well, in case you're wondering. They've really got the hang of their cake mixing abilities... Now they just need to perfect their icing skills) to our humble home, we decided that it would be better to keep things neat, and split it up a little!

On top of that we've been preparing for December the 9th, a date more momentous than Christmas and Thanksgiving all wrapped up into one.

What happens on December the 9th? Well, if you don't already know, then you'll just have to wait and see.

On that curious note, let's get on with the spotlight!

Whoa! Whoa indeed young level seeker, for you have stumbled upon something special here. You've been given the ability to control time! Ok, yes, we've all seen the "time" mechanic used in LBP before, but not quite like this. In here, not only can you pause, rewind and fast forward time, but you get to encounter your past self performing the action that you just did. Wait, what? It's like this. You press a button and see a door open, step off the button and the door closes. We need in that door but how? Easy, walk to the door then to the button then rewind time until you're back at the door. Now watch as your past self or would it be future self since YOU are now in the past? Great. Gave myself a headache. Anyway, watch as your time self presses the button, allowing you access. Genius! If you've ever played Braid or something akin to it, then you know what I mean. The puzzles get progressively more challenging so you better have your noggin prepared. A great level with a sharp design that you must play!
I'll start this off very very simply indeed: Do you like Braid? Yes? Then you'll love this. At first, I found it very difficult to turn my creator brain off. You know, the one that keeps asking ?How did they do this? How would I do it, for that matter...?? But then I became so enamoured with the puzzles at work, and their possible solutions, that all those questions flew out of the window. This is truly a wonderful level, with ridiculously well thought out puzzles, and a sleek design that does nothing to hamper your progress. Exquisite.Well what do we have here? A sackbot that can pause, rewind, and fast forward, but you can see the action previously performed when you meddle with time. It almost reminds me of that dagger from Prince of Persia. This power is not just for your amusement however, you have to twist the very fabric of time and use yourself, and well, yourself from a previous time to complete a series of ingeniously constructed puzzles. But if you find time, you can always take a second to wave to erm? yourself? in the future (I think I said that right?) to provide a bit of encouragement along the way. So what are you waiting for? Strap on those thinking caps and give this great level a go!

http://i5.lbp.me/img/bl/325dab237ffee72307752889367bc93792c0489a.png[RPSBBC] The Tale of a Caterpillar, a Squirrel, and 3 SpidersL-I-M-IMy entry for the Radioplaystation.com (@RadioPS_Live) BBC Contest... Time is ticking and story time must go on!! Help a squirrel reclaim her tree from a brood of menacing spiders, while recovering all the lost pages of Mr. Caterpillars book so all the little critters of the forest and beyond may hear a wonderful story Thx to my friends for testing (art, mags,) and @Jarreguin001 for music and syncing it to a most fantastic surprise. Collect all the pages for an awesome surprise ending!!!!
Let me invite you to a wonderful tale of sweet squirrel who just wants to read a great story to all the little critters of the forest, but those troublesome spiders have absconded with pages from the book! This is where you come in. Your job, no, your duty is to retrieve these pages and rid the tree of these awful arachnids once and for all. The scenery is fantastic and I just loved the character work on display here. The gameplay is fun with an engaging mechanic that I'm sure you'll enjoy. Collect all the pages and you'll be treated with a brilliantly animated reading of The Hungry Caterpillar.
Looking to hear a wonderful reading of the Hungry Caterpillar? Not so fast! A group of mischievous spiders have stolen all of Ms. Squirrel?s acorns saved for the winter and are holding them as ransom for the book! So you?ll have to set aside your arachnophobia (well I had to at least) and help Ms. Squirrel defeat the spiders, retrieve the acorns, AND return the book back to the caterpillar before storytime! If your hands aren?t full already, you?ll also have to sneak into the spider?s layer to get there, but luckily, Ms. Squirrel has provided a Spidey-Matic 5000?a web launching device that will allow you to sneak past the other spiders and also prove essential to traverse the lair. Truly you can ask for nothing more in a level: great story, wonderful scenery, charming characters, and some ingenious gameplay. What are you waiting for? Story time is quickly approaching! The bonus level for saving the day and preventing those small woodland critters from having their story time cancelled is a reading of the tale they were all waiting to hear. The Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle is brought beautifully to life in a wonderful animation which has all the bold and colourful charm of Carle?s illustrations. It's an almost perfect recreation of the story that will bring back a lot of fond memories for anyone for whom it was a favourite childhood book. The expressions on that caterpillar?s face are wonderful and the music is a great fit. It's guaranteed to bring a smile to your face.

http://i3.lbp.me/img/bl/aa3cde03398b41de8a6bc34dc4ff0e77d654dc03.pngStreet s of Newport (lntroduction)radio_statikTamera Moorings is on her way home from school when she is set upon by a gang of... erm... I THINK they're human.... they might just be mutated rats. Anyway! They have a nasty look in their eye. I wonder what they have in store? -- Voices by @radio_statik and @rialrees . Extra art provided by @crasher360
Welcome to Newport where the streets are tough and the gals are tougher. It would seem that your sister has gotten herself into a pickle by being kidnapped by a group of thugs and now it's up to you to rescue her. Crossing this concrete jungle will not be so easy, but with a few well placed punches and kicks, you'll soon be on your way to victory. The design of this level is of a classic side scrolling arcade beat 'em up game and it just rocks! The art style is classic Radio Statik and I bet you find yourself stopping a few times to soak in the scenery. The characters are great, the voice acting superb, the design mouth watering amazing and best of all, the gameplay is a blast!
It's always amazing when you bump into a level that possesses that Wow! factor and this level is nothing short of that. Granted bump might be a bit of understatement as this action thriller has POW! BAM! and K.O! written all over it as you fight your way through the streets of Newport. As I watched the introduction and battled through the streets, I couldn?t help but notice that the characters were an artistic masterpiece in themselves even after a couple bumps and bruises. This level was truly brilliantly crafted and even includes a difficulty setting for all of the skilled or not-so-skilled side scrolling arcade fighters. So get ready?maybe a couple push-ups??and go fight your way through the Streets of Newport.
Those of us from Shropshire have always had our doubts about the goings-on just over the border in Wales and it seems we were right to be worried. I?m not sure what?s scarier to be honest: the mutant rats or the super-tough Hayley Moorings who sets out to rescue her sister, Tamara, from their clutches. The artwork throughout is superb and it's brilliantly animated and brought to life by the voice acting and humour. The gameplay is apparently *cough* a great recreation of that in the classic arcade style beat ?em ups and whilst I don't have the skill to get very far (even on simple mode) I had a lot of fun trying. It's fantastic to see something so unique and memorable in LBP2. The only word for it is ?solid?!

http://i4.lbp.me/img/bl/a34bac6067df451da2d64eab974a2f7f24a69f48.png"Dino-mite!"KomodoBrothersCocreated by SharpShot925 Inspired by Portal, this puzzler introduces unique gameplay! The Super Hot Giraffe Girl shows you the magic of your dino-teleporting abilities! And her friends, the Cloud Crew, help you along the way. Take a picture of how many times you teleported to see who did the best!
Oy! Here's one for you that you are sure to love. I love seeing levels that offer up new gameplay elements and this one surely fits that bill. You play as a cute little dinosaur and you've been given a gift and cool one at that. Your gift is that you can magically transport to checkpoints once they are activated. You have to use this gift in order to conquer obstacles, but it's not quite as easy as you may think. This is a great little puzzler level that you will get a kick out of.
Got your thinking cap to hand? Good, well, blow off the dust and put it on, as you?re going to need it to get to the end of this level! The Super Hot Giraffe Girl may have given you magic teleporting abilities but learning to use them to get through all the nifty puzzles ahead will keep you on your toes. It's a really neat and inventive gameplay concept and I love the way the difficulty ramps up later on when you get to throw the checkpoints around as well as just manipulating which one you pop out of. That wall jump towards the end is genuinely testing. It's always great to see someone being this creative with their gameplay. The chirpy little dinosaur really is very cute and you?ll have a blast popping yourself left, right and centre...oh, and if the pop counter at the end reads too high, you can always join those faking their photos to make the number look smaller!

http://i8.lbp.me/img/bl/848e58e246793aa5741b3d198ee8869b0bcadc7a.pngWarbla de's Battle Arena. 1 Player Only.lordwarbladeThis is a survival Hack and Slash based on 2 upcoming levels i am making. There are 2 themes to choose each with its own character and enemies. I hope you all enjoy this level and all of its animations and features. Special thanks to those leaving feedback and criticism.
Whoa! There's a lot going on here! I hardly know where to begin. First, the art style is absolutely stunning. As you head into the arena you may want to look around and gawk at the scenery but believe me, that would be inadvisable as the action immediately heats up. You will be bombarded with horde after horde of all sorts of bad guys, including bats, snakes, warriors and some fiendish bosses. This is a button mashing frenzy as you'll be swinging your sword and shooting arrows like a madman just trying to stay alive! Gorgeous level that will have you coming back for more time and time again.
I want my Mammy! *ahem* 'Scuse me. So, the hordes of darkness are attacking, and it's up to us to face them in the ring. I love the feel of this level ? it's like I've stepped into my very own Gladiator Arena, and there is no one who can best me. Everything here is so perfect ? the silhouette style is not only beautiful, but also adds to the challenge, whilst the weaponry available and the range of enemies to defeat keeps things from getting stale. I love me a good hack-and-slash, and this ticks all the boxes!

Yu-kamone has a real knack for beautiful visuals, and yet with every new level I'm still surprised by how gorgeous the environments are, how everything pops out at you and how the gameplay is interwoven within this structure. Real life nature has nothing on the fantastic landscapes you'll find on show here - it's a perfect reason not to leave the house this winter!Yu-Komone is perhaps the best artist in lbp. Ps3 or Vita, you can not go wrong with this creator. Every time I play a anything from Yu-Komone, my eyes boggle in delight at the pristine landscapes, and gorgeous art style. But what about gameplay? It's here. In spades. Fun and fluid platforming coupled with a beautiful art design equals a total package of a level. If fun and pretty are your thing, and how can it not be? This is your level to play.

Or how Sackboy started the cold war. 11/8/12 VelcroJonze@lbpcentral.com For those unfamiliar with Velcro's level style - take a look at this one, because it embodies everything that's so perfect about this creator! It's frantic, fun platforming with his unique blend of materials in a classic romp of a level. Throw on top of that a cheeky satirical story and you've got one of the top PSVita levels! It's a proud moment when a fellow spotlighter gets a spotlight *tear* Los Alamos is simply a classic platformer level jam packed with fun platforming gameplay. I had such a blast playing this level! It is always fun trying to land pixel perfect jumps trying to avoid the tonnes of spikes. As well as the awesome gameplay the level?s visuals were on peak, with perfectly selected materials and stickers. Play this level now!

Snake-owl has been very prolific at the start of LBPV dishing out a whopping five levels already. I am a bit of a snake-owl fanboy and have played them all and I can safely say this is by far my favourite level of snake-owl it felt so polished, the visuals were beautiful and the gameplay kept me saying, ?I wish I thought of that?.Snakeowl continues his wonderful level series. The shadow train has arrived at its destination: Shadow Town is a strange and eerie place, full of bizarre mechanisms which its shadowy inhabitants will help you pass. It has an otherworldly atmosphere and uncanniness all its own. The gameplay is inventive, makes great use of both touch and tilt mechanics and it all flows beautifully smoothly. There?s even a shadow casino in there where I burnt a cool 3,000 points on a slot machine, ouch! Snakeowl?s skills and creativity are impressive. I love the quirkiness of his levels and I agree with Deadmn that this is his best work so far on the Vita.

http://i4.api.vita.lbp.me/img/bl/ce41face33eb9c3b9cfd9b998d31a09a548b3809.png[LBLV1] A Little Bit of the Old Touch and Tiltbonner123The first thing that flashed into my gulliver was that I'd like to have Sackboy right here in my level with the old touch-tilt, real savage. After reading the description to Bonner's new level, I knew it would be different. The first thing you will notice when you spawn into is how great he is with decorations and level designs. This level is a real stunner. Visuals as clear as an azure sky of deepest summer. Some of the best touch based mechanics I have played on the community moon, with innovative gameplay, that had me wishing over and over, that I had thought of that. You can rely on Bonner for a great level, and he proves it, over and over again. Real horrorshow, right right?Playing a Bonner level is always a treat, and this level is no exception. Bonner always likes to focus on creating innovative gameplay and with this level he has done just that. A little bit of touch and tilt contains some of the best tilt gameplay I have seen to date on LBPV including the story levels. With this level plus many more the LBLV1 contest is really heating up!

http://ib.api.vita.lbp.me/img/bl/f5b78484c0542dff6c457ac73ffc52c443bb1fe1.png[LBLV1] The high lifedeadmn1000s of metres high, lie accent tracks.Deadmn has been creating levels for a while. His ps3 offerings are still some of my favorites. And in the lbp Vita beta last the summer, the guy grabbed two team picks. The only creator to score a dues in the beta. So as he switches gears and comes over to the Vita side, I must admit, I couldn't be happier. This level is all about innovative mechanics that I have never seen on lbp. Strap yourself into a controllinator, fasten your seat belt, and then tilt and touch your way through cleverly constructed obstacles that are fresh and fun, nice and challenging, but never frustrating. This is one of my favorite levels over the last couple weeks. Do yourself a favor and play it.I hope you have a head for heights as you?re going to need it in this level. Deadmn has you perched 1000s of metres high in the skies hanging from a set of tracks in a seriously small basket that wouldn't pass any kind of health and safety check. It all feels more than a little precarious and that?s before you start tilting the Vita and rolling left and right through a series of ingenious obstacles. The gameplay is original and varied and there are some clever puzzles using both touch and tilt mechanics. You?ll have a blast navigating the various tests, even if you need to close your eyes while doing it and come crashing down occasionally. It's perilous fun and a refreshing take on what the Vita has to offer.

http://ib.api.vita.lbp.me/img/bl/19bed54f8416a3873be5cea3422872e752b5146d.png2D/3DSlurmMacKenzieFlip between 2D and 3D to progress in this puzzle platformer. Please report bugs and issues if you found any. I hope you'll enjoy the level.
How did he do that? This is a question I kept asking myself as I played through SlurmMackenzie's newest level. With the touch of a button, switch between 2d and 3d, and guide Sackboy through one heck of a level design. Using this innovative mechanic, you will solve environmental puzzles, and platform over obstacles, and death traps. This level truly breaks the mold of what is possible in lbpvita. Not to be missed. If you are familiar with SlurmMacKenzie?s levels you will know that Slurm loves to come up with an innovative idea and build a whole level around it. This time Slurm?s innovative idea was mixing 2D gameplay with 3D gameplay with a switch of a button. With your all-new powerful gameplay mechanic you have to jump across various dangerous obstacles while defying the laws of physics by changing dimensions mid way. What makes this level so special is that I have no idea how he did it!

http://i4.api.vita.lbp.me/img/bl/7f411242c6a935799c621ac3ca65f7917481f192.pngDrop the Balltobz1000A quick physics-based puzzle game.Drop the Ball is simple in its premise. 3 stars to collect with a varying amount of 'drops' for each level. However this brilliant puzzler from tobz will soon have your brain frazzled as you try to collect all the stars by moving scenery and using neat touch controls. Certainly one for fans of puzzlers and even for those who like to pick-up-and-play, simply superb! This is one of those classic puzzle games: deceptively simple at first glance but with a very healthy dose of challenge when you get stuck into it. All you have to do is tilt the Vita to roll a set number of balls through various tunnels, picking up stars as you go. Sounds simple, right? Well, believe me it's not or, at least, not if you want to pick up all the stars. It's beautifully and cleverly designed. A lot of thought has gone into getting the puzzles right and in keeping things fresh by using a different mechanic in each one. The last of the six levels is guaranteed to have you tearing your hair out - in a good way! Pure class!

Winter Epicness
Tony_Too
A winter race packed with amazing jumps, guns, and awards. Did you find the awesome Cow Gun?

Winter is fast approaching and it seems as if all of the cows are starting to come home again. Well, at least in this epic race. After a smooth cutscene depicts this quaint little town at a variety of different angles, this track soon turns into a well-balanced blend of fast downhill racing and uphill trudging as you maneuver around the snowy escape, dodging an onslaught of homing enemy cow missiles. Just make sure you don't absorb the beautiful scenery too much or you'll soon find yourself drifting into a mound of hard snow! This level gave me the chills... get it, because its cold... umm nevermind. It's everyone's (Or at least my) favorite time of the year again. What better way to kick it off with our first amazingly well crafted winter themed Karting Level!? In this winter themed wonderland you'll find yourself swerving in and out huge heaps of snow - Or if you're the daring type why not try to use them to get a bit of extra air? Did I mention the Heat Seaking Cow Missles? My bad, that was kinda important... So anyways, in summary, if you like winter and cows, together, at the same time, then this is the level for you!Welcome to this winter wonderland of absolute epicness and...is that a cow!? Yes you can shoot cows in this insane track. This track will keep you coming back for more as you drift around each bend this is a must play level for any new Karting players.

Belly of the Beast
SwiftAyama
Such a peaceful part of this little big land. Wait... this is SWIFT'S territory...?! and you still want to race here? This won't end well... - Don't feed wild animals!

I sure do hope you can stomach this level. If not, a huge, furry, white animal will do all the work for you! This track encompasses an exciting drive down a (very active) esophagus as you dodge a flurry of partially digested food particles, an intense trek through the gigantic creature's grassy surroundings complete with timed hops, tight turns, and dangerous items, and a scenic vault over the beast itself! And after you spend a few replays on the track, keep in mind that there is always only one exit from the belly of the beast...Just playing this level gave me indigestion, but not the bad kind. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the inner workings of a huge white animal... the exit though, not so much. This level might prove too much to SWALLOW, especially if you haven't got the STOMACH for.... bah, I'm getting bored of my own puns! Playing SwiftAyama's track made a huge grin appear on my face ? a grin that just did not disappear the whole time I was racing! I knew someone would do this idea, racing through the belly of the beast, and I'm really glad it's been pulled off so well! Such imaginative use of the track and decoration around it ? I especially love the partly digested food obstacles in the lower intestine... Just erm.. don't look back.On your marks get set gulp down his throat. Travel inside and out of this interactive and wonderful creature as you race down around and everywhere on this track you will find something new.

Garden Raiders
Laidbackcat
Enjoy a nice sunny day in the garden.

Take a nice lovely stroll around a pond, take in the lucious scenery, and just feel all around peaceful. This level was one of my favorites this round, with it's custom made track and no fences it truly makes for an enjoyable experience.Welcome to this wonderful landscape of highly detailed animals. everything about this track screams out astonishing goodness. Enjoy all the interactive creatures as they look simply amazing. This track will give you a run for your money. The Gardens theme has always been an iconic representation of the LittleBigPlanet universe, and Laidbackcat sure doesn't disappoint in this wonderful rendition of a classic. The myriad of characters and creatures are all well-implemented and some even interact with the track itself, interrupting whatever path you were previously planning! The different track materials also keep you on your toes (or...wheels) as you skid on stone, skip on lilypads, and show your skill in the sandbox.

Arena - Blast Zone
Arastoph
A massive rocket designed to explore Craftworld stands in the middle of this old warehouse, use your driving skill to collect fuel from generator pads all around the arena to fuel the rocket! The more fuel you collect at once the more points you will get!

Wowzers! Arastoph has really outdone himself this time. This level truly grasps the amazing possibilities that Karting presents. In this level you have to work against your opponents to power up a huge rocket. Be sure to play with friends in this level to enjoy it to its full capacity.Ever wondered how rockets were refuelled? I bet you thought it was just a random collection of NASA staff in boring uniforms, holding some sort of fuelling pipe, right? WRONG! All rockets are powered by the energy harvested by sackboys in karts, and Arastoph has succeeded in teaching us all something new with his awesome competitive arena. Compete (preferably with friends online ? it's just far more fun that way) to get as much energy to the rocket as possible in the time available, and get yourself to the top of the leaderboard. Now you know! Five four three two oops we need Sackpeople here now! Refuel this rocket in this battle royale of sheer amazement. Fight your opponents as you bring the rocket fuel back to the rocket. Oh and one more thing. Try not to be killed.Even rockets need a little juice to make sure they take off correctly, which is exactly what's going down in this dangerous blast zone! As a team, you must boost, blast, and fly around this absolutely beautiful, obstacle-filled factory as you power up your personal batteries to distribute into a giant rocket that inhabits the middle of this arena. For such a detailed and busy level such as this, you will be very surprised to know that it is very hard to get lost! As long as you avoid the enemy team's deadly weapons, that is...

Amazingly enough, the thing I liked most about this spotlight was the inclusion of The Temporal Traverse. I almost thought it wouldn't be spotlighted. Silly me.2012-11-25 21:19:00

Congratulations to everyone featured in this jam packed episode. Amazing levels and I had a blast playing them all. Well, except the vita and Karting ones, as I don't have either of those games.....yet. Side note. I noticed that the Karting level Winter Epicness (https://karting.lbp.me/v/7w5) by Tony_too, the profile is set to "this creator has chosen NOT to publish information to the web." Boy, sure makes it easier if you guys would change your privacy settings. Makes it easier not only for the crew but for everyone else to queue and play your level.2012-11-25 21:53:00

This is a big episode! Thanks to the crew for the great job, and congrats to all featured creators. About the Vita spotlight, I really enjoyed Drop the Ball by tobz1000, so make sure you try this level if you like simple yet fun puzzlers!2012-11-25 22:07:00

Thanks for mentioning Tree Top Tromp

As for people with their privacy settings messed up on the karting side of things, they have a bit of an excuse since we have a lot of great folks from the modnation racers side joining us for karting so they are not as familiar with lbp.me

Great work spotlight team!

We have to keep them guessing though Ria. Maybe they're right, maybe they're wrong. Who knows? :3

Oh, thanks for an Honourable Mention. Didn't expect that since I only threw Multitudinous Minion Mash together in 4 days. (srsly, I didn't even glue most bits together! I just used staples, celotape and wishful thinking, and now it's falling apart.)

I normally queue up the Spotlight from the LBP.me LOLZ, but even then I wind up with a backlog of levels to get through. How you lot get through an entire board of levels every fortnight, just seems impossible. Moreso 'cause some of you even make your own levels, too.

For next fortnights 'special', I put my money on some sort of retrospective article where the crew goes through thier favourite Spotlights from the last 99 episodes. I called it. You all read it.

Wow! Seeing all the Spotlights broken out in seperate threads opens ones eyes to the sheer magnitude of effort required to make this happen. Hats, gloves and glasses off to the Spotlight Crew for such an amazing endeavor.

And a big BRAVO to all the creators mentioned here. Pure awesomeness!

Oh cool, a spotlight inside me.

It feels nice.

And intrusive.

But that's fine.

What's a paragraph?

Also, hopefully I'll have my next LBP2 level out for the next episode. It'd be nice to have a place in the centennial episode. And oh man centennial episode.
