Music Sequencer

Archive: 9 posts

I loved being able to make my own music in LBP2, and I was hoping LBPK would have a music sequencer at launch. If and when a music sequencer will be added to Karting, it would be an added bonus if we can import the music sequences we made in LBP2 into LBPK.2012-11-25 05:32:00

I don't think it will happen considering Karting's abysmal sales. It's just not a worthwhile endeavor at this point... totally for it, though.2012-11-26 02:31:00

Abysmal sales? LBP1 and LBP2 also had poor sales the first few months it came out. Over time, the games gathered a big following. LBPK's following should pick up over time as well.2012-11-26 06:53:00

I didn't make music with the music sequencer but this is really a missed chance! If you hear the same music the whole time, well, that's just... it's a missed chance.... But hopefully they compensate it with a reasonable amount of music numbers that you can use as the background music for your race track (I can't say since I don't have the game for now)2012-11-26 12:24:00

Yea I want this too, the default tracks are fairly limiting. And there is no reason to give us less then what we've already had. And judging by some of the level's I've seen this game will take off in the same respects as LBP2. Perhaps with a slightly smaller fanbase, but I find it hard to imagine this won't go anywhere.2012-11-29 06:36:00

There are always reasons to give us less. Time, money, complexity, deadlines, setbacks, market predictions. People expect everything from LBP2 and everything from Modnation Racers combined in one, but it's not as simple as copying both games on the same disc and pressing 'Merge'. Most likely they started from the MNR engine since they built and know it already, so every feature from LBP 2 had to be coded in from scratch. (And programmers are notorious for not wanting to use other people's code. )

You can still make custom music, you know. People did it in LBP1, too. And LBPK has more sounds and it should be less of a hassle because of the (gameplay) Sequencer gadget.

You're not wrong, in any of that.

BUT I'm a musician, so working with default tracks is limiting.

It is very simple....

You do NOT need a music sequencer (you already have one) you just need to be able to import your tracks from LBP2

Well that would work too but it would be better to have the creation implemented in game. That way you don't have to load LBP2 to make a track for LBPK and people who don't own LBP2 can still work with it.
