Agh! Change your web privacy to be viewed by the public. That way the Spotlight crew has better acces to your level. 2012-11-23 06:16:00

I did a quick fix update. The weaponator on the breakfast table did not have any weapon. Landing on the round table next to the bookcase now kills you.

The bookcase has several major pathing problems, causing you to sometimes respawn in an enclosed location, forcing you to suicide. The jump off the middle shelf on the bookcase can throw you off track if you hug the very left wall when you hit the bounce pad (you end up ricocheting off the side panel into oblivion)

EDIT: v1.2.1 (November 23, 2012): More bookcase problems fixed. Improved pre-race introduction cinematics.

EDIT:

Sorry for the double post, but I'm constantly looking for issues within this level. As a result, I update it quite frequently. If the AI issues around the burning stove top are too much, I can fix that area up. I had to do some major fixes in the bookcase section to address spawning errors and such around that area.

If you find any gameplay-related issues in this level, feel free to let me know here.

Good stuff. The racing inside the house was fun, and going along tables and kitchen sides was exciting. It reminded me of micromachines with the tiny karts/big house idea. I like the level a lot, but I have a few suggestions for your next level....

* Some of your best looking parts of the level (table tops etc) are in hard to reach shortcuts. Perhaps make them easier to get to.
* Some of the harder alternative routes seem to take longer to get to. The first mini table as you enter in house... going up the cereal packets.. both of these were harder to do than the other route.. and seemed to take longer when I achieved them.
* I played twice.. on the second time I thought I did pretty well but I was still at the back by far... have you turned the difficulty up? or am i just rubbish.
* lastly... inside of house looks great... outside is a big white square. And its the first shot of your level. Obviously im not on the spotlighting team anymore, but (back in the dayyyyy) first impressions count and if the first thing you see is a white box instead of a decorated house then that could be enough to swing a nomination.

Overall I do like the level and I really enjoyed my two runs around it. Well done and i hope my feedback gives you some ideas for next time.

Thank you for the feedback! Even before then, I was republishing this level due to gameplay issues, and it's my first level since making this same level with the limited facilities of the LBPK public beta. I'm glad that, other than the alternate routes issues, most of them have been pretty much addressed.

Between the first time you played it and the most recent, I fixed many of the pathing errors that cause the AI to get stuck in certain parts of the level (bookcase, the jump onto the kitchen countertop, etc.). These fixes allow the AI to be more aggressive.

* Some of the harder alternative routes seem to take longer to get to. The first mini table as you enter in house... going up the cereal packets.. both of these were harder to do than the other route.. and seemed to take longer when I achieved them.

I agree with this, so to at least make these alternate routes worth the effort, I placed weaponators that guarantee the player a high-tier weapon (boxing glove, leader seeker missile).

* lastly... inside of house looks great... outside is a big white square. And its the first shot of your level. Obviously im not on the spotlighting team anymore, but (back in the dayyyyy) first impressions count and if the first thing you see is a white box instead of a decorated house then that could be enough to swing a nomination.

I wanted to make the outside of the house look just as detailed as the inside, but my thermometer reached maximum before I could do anything. I elected to show the whole house to give players an idea of the scale of the whole level. It is too late to decorate the outside of the house since my thermometer is at max, so I think I will change the first panned shot of the prerace cinematic to just show the immediate vicinity of the starting line instead.

Again, thank you for the feedback!

You obviously put a lot of effort into this level, and it shows. Visuals are stunning, and the entire theme and design are great. However, I wish it raced a little smoother. I agree with Adipose's comments about the shortcuts being too challenging and taking longer than the actual routes. I know you added powerful weapons on these routes, but most of the time, I am already holding onto a weapon and didn't realize that the weapons on the routes were super powerful. Also, a lot of the jumps are kind of rough. I especially hate having to turn immediately after landing a jump. I like a short straight away to capitalize on spin boosts. The visual direction and art design of the level are spectacular. Keep up the work! I look forward to you future tracks.2012-12-07 15:27:00

I didnt realise you could make different weaponators randomise different weapons. I'll have to check that out.2012-12-07 21:17:00

@Manlius

I will definitely fix the rough jumps in this track and in my next one: War of the Sackworlds. As I gain experience and feedback, I will be mindful to minimize these issues in my new tracks and address them in my existing ones.

Thank you for the feedback!
