Corkscrew Castle

Race through a large castle and surrounding township with spiraling turns and long jumps - a drifter's delight for high speeds. Long two lap track with a shortcut opening on the second lap.

This is a much improved version of my first level from the Beta (originally called Korkscrew Kingdom). The track itself is almost identical to the original with a little fine tuning, and I've added a full environment. Here's pic from create mode, showing the whole track. Enjoy!

I played this level, and I really admire the design. The bounce pads usage is very good, plus it adds the score combos to it. The only issue is that I accidentally went the wrong way in one of those split paths, which caused me to get last place right at the end. It's a really fun level, though.

I finally got around to playing this level yesterday, and I have a few things to comment. I find this level particularly hard to critique because it works well, but it doesn't try anything particularly impressive. The castles are really cool, and your transitions between road surfaces work really well. I especially liked the vertical chain on the inside of the track once it transitioned to the wood bridge on the up spiral. However, your level needs more aesthetic flair like this to add more visual interest. I know you have lots of props, but they are very big and hard to appreciate from the racer's view. Try adding jumps or big hills that overlook the "scene" of the track in future races.2012-12-07 14:56:00
