AI wont use shortcuts

Archive: 4 posts

Hello everyone! I'm goofing around in a track and just tryin to learn all the tools. On my track the road turns into terrain (just the ground no custom object) and I have a bounce pad that launches you over a small gap and down a path that reconnects to the track. I know that not all bots will use it all the time, but after several races I can't get one to go down it. I though I had to place a pathfinder but it won't let me put one on the ground. I was thinking maybe put down a spline path and make them follow it but then they will use it all the time (wont they?) and I don't want that. Is their something simple I'm missing?2012-11-21 17:30:00

Try putting hologram material all over your short cut and then add the path finder. Aswell, make sure you have breadcrumbs laid down.2012-11-21 20:20:00

I agree with zzmorg - try breadcrumbs first. this way the AI will recognise it as an alternate route.
You could also use a track splitter thingy, then just make the track invisible.

I also had an issue that a short cut didnt work on the first corner of the track.. so make sure your split is some way into the course.

I already used bread crumbs but I didn't try branching the road. I did get it solved I just moved the bounce pad back till its slightly on the path and then the started using it like any other shortcut. Thanks for the help though.2012-11-21 23:07:00
