Troubke making a closed loop path

Archive: 4 posts

How do you connect 2 ends of a path so and object can continually loop around the track. I thought the 2 ends of thecpath would connect automatically, but they don't.2012-11-20 18:43:00

I assume you are talking about for a spline? I feel like I just answered a similar question on a thread on here but I don't know where and I can't find it...

The key is to place the end node directly on top of the start node. Then when you place the path follower motor on the spline you want it to be set to Flip In. I believe the Flip (or whatever it is called) option is the second to the bottom when you are viewing the options for a path follower motor. This will make it so that as soon as the object reaches the end it will flip back to the start again which will make it seem like it just continues to go around the path. I do this sort of thing on Tree Top Trouble with the bees, but I have the bees hidden behind the trees whenever they hit the end of the path so that you can't see them make a slight jump when the flip back to the start again (and most times I don't have the start where the end is since both the start and end are hidden behind the trees.

There is certainly a chance that this wasn't even what you were asking, so if that is the case then I apologize for talking your ear off

Yes. This is what I needed. I hate that stutter it does at the end if the loop. There are just so many little things like this that make this game not very easy or enjoyable to work with as LBP is. Its a shame.

EDIT:

Well I solved the jump or stutter at the end of the loop. I just eliminated the pause and that solved it. Thanks for the help.

Oh sorry, I should have mentioned getting rid of the pause. When I mentioned the jump I was referring to the fact that it is hard to match the nodes up perfectly so there would probably be a tiny jump in the animation. Glad that you got the issue resolved!2012-11-20 20:37:00
