The Artificial Intelligence Box

The AI system consists of a large titghtly packed mess of many different switches.

Mainly 3 way switches and time release switches, one ways, and LOTS of timers.

Using this huge system, I set up simple events and string them together to my boss.

For example...

Say I want my boss, currently facing left, to jump up, land 5-10 fet behind you, now face right.

OK so first problem is #1 objects cant turn. So I need to make 2 identical bosses, facing oppisite directiones.

Now I have these hooked up ona lonnnnnggg pistons to their own little 1x1 box. The 1x1 box is then attached by a small tight spring to a very wide 1 tall box. Both pistons are, one at each end.

Next I attach this wide box up to a small 1x1 box via rod set to tight. Then I have a piston coming out either left or right side of the 1x1 sqaure to a chunk of dark matter.

Ok so whats this big thing do? Well I set up the long pistons oppisite, so while one boss is down on the ground, the other is suspended in the air out of sight.

Next the springs are for simple shock absorption, stops the thing from breaking on impact with ground.

Now This apparatus is the strings that control my puppet, the boss. They hold him up and stop him from falling over, and shuffle him left and right to follow the sackperson.

Next I build an underground tube with a single sqaure hidden below surface, on a piston that slides it across the tube. Using some nifty switchery, I make this sqaure follow the sackperson.

Ok, everything is set up, now how do we make him jump?!

Ok, first I set up like 7 switches on timers to each joint, because when you bend down to jump you dont bend all your joints at once. Its knees>ankles>waist>more knees.

So when your sackperson trips the proximity switch between its legs, it sets off a 2 way switch that then trips all the timers to make it bend down to jump.

Then another timer trips a loud growling sound, then the timers for joints move out of range.

This is followed by the joints (set to flipper) flipping back, making the thing jump. At the same time, the piston on its back hauls it up into the air.

A 5 second timer goes off and there's a quiet pause. Then the whole process happens in reverse with the left monster. Then the super counterattack (generraly a huge wave of missles or rockets or fire is good) is launched at you for trying to cheat.

What else?

How about that horizontal piston attached to the dark matter mentioned earlier...?

Well that one makes the thing walk when used in conjunction with the underground tube switch.

How? Well when the underground box moves left, I have a 2 way switch make the beast walk motion, and the piston slide the overhead apparatus across, holding it upright. Toss in some impact boom sounds on its feet... viola!

There are many possibilities for this apparatus and AIB. Sorry if my description is confusing you, I may need to draw up a description... o.o;

okokoko SO

The oppisite pistons move up/down with jump aim to simulate the boss jumping and turning midair.

Left/right piston attached to DM pushes entire apparatus left/right along with boss walking animation to simulate boss walking and following you.

Bottom tube glass thingy follows you to tell boss when you've stopped moving.

Does it kind of make sense now? I horribly suck at explaining stuffs, frowny face

It does make sense... but I am wondering how you defeat such a boss. If you have 2 bosses and use AI brains, then one will have some popped and the other won't which might be odd. If you emit them, then they will refresh the brains.

You would have to have some sort of other system to track the boss being destroyed if it is really 2 or more bosses.

There are different ways to kill a boss O:

That's true. I guess you could have an "OR" system to mirror what's happening on both sides. 2009-01-16 23:40:00
