Would Copying Music be a Copyright Violation?

Archive: 7 posts

I am talking about copying sheet music into a sequencer and using it in a level. Would this be considered a copright violation and be unable to get a team pick? Like if you made Jingle Bells on a sequencer and used it in a Christmas level.2012-11-19 21:19:00

I think it may depend exactly what it is... pretty sure Jingle Bells is safe. Also anything LBP has DLC of is safe for sure. as for other stuff it just depends.. *mew2012-11-19 21:23:00

That's true... Although there is a ton of Disney DLC in LBP, so making anything in that theme wouldn't be considered for copyright.

Couldn't be argued that the music is an homage of the original piece, not the original piece itself?2012-11-23 20:16:00

You will not get any copyright violations because you can argue you wrote those notes. It's also not a recording of it. Heck, someone even did the ghostbusters theme in LBP2 along with Thriller in the same level, and it got Mm Picked.2012-11-25 03:41:00
