Why I've recently quit LBP
Archive: 16 posts
I use to love playing LBP. I use to play it every day of the week for about 4 hours straight. Then I realized that I couldn't find anyone my age who likes to create. Everytime I dive in I end up with children. This is kinda like a last call for anyone out there who is 16+ and likes to create. Is there ANYONE out there who can get me back into LBP? | 2012-11-18 20:18:00 Author: donta133 Posts: 182 |
Age shouldn't matter. If you enjoy playing and creating then it doesn't matter what age you are. I'm 16 and I know a lot of people on this site, and most top creators, are older. If you're enjoying yourself then continue with it, it hasn't stopped me. Also, a lot of the more mature members of the community like to turn off people diving into their pod and thus when you dive in you end up with 10 year olds. | 2012-11-18 21:15:00 Author: PGdafrog Posts: 277 |
What annoys me is playing story mode with random people, today it took almost an hour to get through full metal rabbit because the two people I was with wouldn't go through the level link to part 2, they would just keep using the grabinators, throwing each other around (but mostly me as they were playing from the same console, probably thinking 'hurr let's throw the random online guy&apos and constantly using the slap feature to attack me XD. Anyway, yeah I am actually 16 and I love creating. I'm trying to make my own story, like the Move/Toy Story/Muppets DLC. | 2012-11-18 22:37:00 Author: Jakest123 Posts: 319 |
You'll get back into it when the urge to create becomes stronger than the sour feelings you have now. It'll happen. Don't force it. Go enjoy some other games. You'll eventually meet people with LBP2 on their trophy lists and if one of them is like you, a fan of the game who got turned off by all the kids, etc., you'll probably play each other's levels, show each other Moon stuff, start having new ideas. The usual. Bam, you're back in. As with so many things, having a friend to play with makes a game better. ESPECIALLY a game you've lost your taste for. UPDATE. Oh, Donta, it's you! We've crossed paths a few times and obviously you've been on the forums longer than me. You'll have probably seen my "done with LBP, goodbye!" posts a few times. Stick around the forums for inspiration too. | 2012-11-19 01:05:00 Author: Unknown User |
Age shouldn't matter. If you enjoy playing and creating then it doesn't matter what age you are. Absolutely correct. While the majority of the people on LBP are obnoxious and over sensitive, you have to consider that not all of us are like that. I can think of three brilliant examples of underage, but decent LBP players. Wheelbase911. He loves to create levels filled with his own sprites. He's only 14 (he's an old school friend-guy), and while he's normally childish, when he wants to be, Wheels is more mature and focused than the average 16 year old. http://ib.lbp.me/img/ft/60b41bc418cd97ca224b7ad13647fd442a7ca1e9.jpg MeGA8940. He makes awesome music. Some of his pieces are seriously better than the famous LBP composers'. He also makes characters with sticker panel. I'm pretty sure he's 14 too, and he is a really decent person. MeGA also toys around with his ideas in create a lot. http://ia.lbp.me/img/ft/ddae5435e83ed69ec80836d029ea92cdb5234de6.jpg Me. Kaboosh99. Heh heh. But yeah, I'm a good creator... I think. And I'm 13. http://i5.lbp.me/img/ft/00561d22a66d4e5056c6b804e3c54714306c0b5b.jpg So there. Three guys you might like to get to know. The other two doods are a big part of the reason I'm still playing LBP. | 2012-11-19 04:49:00 Author: Kaboosh99 Posts: 359 |
Holy cow, Kaboosh, you're thirteen? You are a quality representative of so many things. The rest of this is a rant. I went to Metacritic today and saw a featured user "review" in the sidebar in which the author tried to age-qualify an offensively misspelled and mispunctuated block of diarrhea by claiming he was "there" in the era of "Space Invaders and Scrabble". If true, it puts the man in his late 60s at least. Being fair, let's say early 40s, old enough to coherently remember when Space Invaders became a cultural phenomenon, and treating Scrabble as a timeless feature of all childhoods, since it actually debuted in homes half a decade before the first color television. What would not surprise me is if he turned out to actually be a grown (physical) man in his 40s, infantile and illiterate and stupid to a point of public threat; a very UNQUALITY representative of many things, and sadly also the more common and appropriate one. Language and behavior are no indicator of age, for sure. | 2012-11-19 07:13:00 Author: Unknown User |
Holy cow, Kaboosh, you're thirteen? You are a quality representative of so many things. The rest of this is a rant. Why, yes. Yes I am. I'm beaming right now. BEAMING. Basically any kid who's 11 or older and reasonably mature is worth playing with. Handy tip: if their sackperson is covered with shark tooth decorations OR the kid is breathing hard into a mic, then leave dat game. . :kz: Also, rants are epic. | 2012-11-20 03:33:00 Author: Kaboosh99 Posts: 359 |

I'm 13 and I'm pretty mature, and I turn off my mic - text chat is easier. And no, my costume is not covered in Shark teeth. :-) | 2012-11-21 18:05:00 Author: Protoraptor Posts: 960 |
Well, i think it really depends on the person you're playing with... yesterday i spent nearly an hour to find some "normal" sackpersons to play with... I had groups of children just hopping around in the hq and telling stupid stuff. Then another group i joined.. one person was also telling dumb stuff, but in the mic... i guess he argued with someone^^ BUT annoying stuff can also happen with older people (although it's more often the case that they're about 11,12,13 etc)... But it's sooooo annoying if you join a group which doensn't want to play a level, just hopping around and going on my nerves.... that's the point which makes me sometimes "hate" LBP, although it's such an fantastic game, no matter how old the persons are that make me angry xD | 2012-11-21 18:40:00 Author: Chup Posts: 95 |
Kaboosh is right. Don't make the mis-judgement that anyone younger is either A) out to ruin your fun. or B) a lesser creator. I'm also thirteen, but I feel that I can create reasonably well, and I'm mature as any adult, and just as considerate. And if there tongue is always sticking out and they are waving they arms about like a maniac, I'd leave them too. When you find people with sophisticated costumes, you'll know that they're good people to play with. That's why my costume is wearing the Elizabethan Hat with the Doublet, beard, and glasses. | 2012-11-21 20:12:00 Author: bluesteel789 Posts: 159 |

O ya, most of that is true, but the costume part I'm not sure about. I wouldn't judge them through their costumes either. I mean, heck yeah, I still find that annoying "emo" dressed up in a sea of teeth and dark stickers and piercings, but some people dress like that and are completely mature. Yeah, they may look stupid, and they do, but I don't think that matters in a game. I mean, imagine if everyone wore business suits and striped neck ties in the game. Customization, mah boi. It's a huge part of LBP. | 2012-11-22 10:21:00 Author: Sackpapoi Posts: 1195 |

It's a huge part of LBP. You're right. What I should have said, is that people who have a costume where it is splattered with huge decorations and shark teeth are more likely to be immature.... heck, no, you shouldn't judge people by their costume. You can't even judge them by the way they type, even if dey tipe lyke diss u cantt tll whut ther lyke. Even checkng their creations won't help. You have to hope you join a good group of people who you'll have great fun with. | 2012-11-22 16:21:00 Author: bluesteel789 Posts: 159 |
I quit LBP2 too, but that's because I lose interest in creating every time I start a new level. I said that I am through with LBP2, but I had a dream that I plan on making Glow World 2. It doesn't sound like a bad idea, so I will temporarily return to LBP2 for one last level. | 2012-11-22 23:20:00 Author: Apple2012 Posts: 1408 |
Well, not to necro-post, but age really doesn't matter. I've seen great creators who are 8, and I've seem bad ones that are 30. And yes, I'm not dead. | 2012-11-24 02:45:00 Author: Undarivik Posts: 442 |
