How to Add Snapshots from Your Level to a Post
Archive: 1 post
There are some great levels being posted, but one thing that would be very helpful for those of us who are looking through the site threads for great karting levels to play would be pictures from each level so that we know what to expect. I know that I am more likely to play a level if I can see pictures from the level so that I know that the creator took the time to make the level look good. There are two different ways to get pictures to your computer so that you can add them to a post. One way is very easy, but it is a bit limited at the time because karting.lbp.me isn't working 100% correctly since it is still spooling up, and the other is a bit more difficult but will work 100% of the time. Let's start with the easy way... Adding Photos to a Post Using Karting.LBP.me 1) The first few steps will be things you do in-game, so I won't have pictures, but I will do my best to describe what to do. The best time to take a snapshot in your level is either in create mode since you can take some epic shots from above or at interesting angles that you can't reach while you are taking a snapshot while racing. The other good time is while you are racing when testing a level. I saw WHEN TESTING A LEVEL because taking snapshots while racing online doesn't really work. So go into create mode, and then push start and choose to go into play mode. Once you are ready to take the picture (while in create mode or racing offline) just press start and scroll down to the option to take a picture. I believe it is a relatively small button near the bottom that just has a outlined box in it. I may be wrong but there aren't too many options so it should be somewhat obvious. Just use your controller to navigate around to an angle you like and then use L1 to snap the picture. 2) You now have a picture (or multiple pictures) taken from your level, it is time to send them to Karting.LBP.me. To do this you are going to need to open your Popit with the Square button and then select the Sticker option. Then use R1 to flip through a few pages and you will arrive at the page that shows the pictures that you have taken. Use the controller to navigate to the picture you want, and then press "Square" and options will appear. One of the options should be "Upload" or something like that, this is the option that you want to use. Just select that, press "x", and you picture should be sent. It takes a few seconds to upload but if you sit there instead of closing the window then it will notify you once it has uploaded. If you back out after pressing upload then you just assume that everything worked but you won't know until you open karting.lbp.me. 3) So now you have repeated step 1 and 2 to get all of the pictures you want uploaded and it is time to access karting.lbp.me and grab your pictures to add them to a post. So, head over to http://karting.lbp.me. The first thing you need to do is see if you are signed in. Look in the top-right hand corner of the screen. If your name is there then you are signed in. Otherwise it will say "Sing in with SEN". You need to select that and then sign in using your email and password that you use to sign into PSN/SEN on your PS3 in order to access LBPK online: http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/tt179/amazingflyingpoo/LBPKBeforeLogin.png 4) Now that you are signed in, you need to select your name in the top-right hand corner of the screen and a drop down menu will appear. Select "My Profile" from this menu: http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/tt179/amazingflyingpoo/LBPKProfile.png 5) Now that you are viewing your profile, scroll down until you see the "Photos" button in the left sidebar and select it: http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/tt179/amazingflyingpoo/lbpkPhotosbutton.png 6) Your photo's page will show the photos that you have uploaded. Just scroll down and you will see them shown in a list. Just hover your cursor over any photo, RIGHT click using your mouse, and then select "Copy Image URL". 7) Now the image is ready to use in the post that you are making on the site. Just select that area of the post, and then press the "Insert Image" button on the site that you are using (LBPC, LittleBigNetwork, LittleBigLand, or LittleBigPlanetarium): http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/tt179/amazingflyingpoo/AddImageButton.png 8) A window will now popup asking for the picture info. There are a few important things you need to do. First select the "From URL" option in the top tabs of the popup. You need to paste the URL that you copied in step #6 into the URL field, and lastly MAKE SURE that the "retrieve remove file and reference locally" is NOT selected. With this done, press the "Ok" button and your photo will be added: http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/tt179/amazingflyingpoo/PictureSettings.png I know that that seems like a lot, but it is super easy once you do it a few times. I can pretty much do it all without thinking now in less than a minute and it goes a LONG way to encouraging people to play your levels. There is currently an issue with Karting.LBP.me where you can only retrieve 1 page of images. If you try to view any other pages then an error occurs on the site. Unfortunately, your newest pictures are added to the end of the list, so they appear on the pages that you cannot view, and this also means that if you upload more that currently once you upload 9 pictures then you cannot upload any more. Fortunately there is another way to add pictures, but you will need an image hosting site like Photobucket, or you could host them on Facebook. I am not going to get into where to host them at, but it is easy enough to host them somewhere. This other method also requires that you have a USB drive, so have that handy. Adding Photos Manually with a USB Drive 1) The first few steps will be things you do in-game, so I won't have pictures, but I will do my best to describe what to do. 2) Now it is time to save the picture to your hard drive. What you are going to do is open your popit, select the Sticker option, and then use R1 to flip over to the page where you snapshots are help. Use the cursor to select the picture that you want to use in your post and then press Square. A menu will pop up and you want to select the "Export to HDD" option. 3) Once you have exported all of the pictures that you want to use you can exit LBP Karting all together (quit the game). Now, from the cross media bar navigate to the photos section and most likely at the very bottom of this section will be your pictures from LBP Karting that you just exported. They will be in a folder. Make sure that you have your USB drive in your PS3, navigate to the picture you want to use, and then press Triangle. A number of options will appear. Select the Copy option. It should then give the option to copy to your USB drive. Select the USB drive. The first one should copy fine, but when you copy the next one it will say that it found one with that name already. Just select the "Rename and Copy" option (or it is something like that. It is the top option). 4) Now that your pictures are on your USB drive, plug it into your computer and use any site of your choice to host the pictures. Then Copy the URL to that picture by Right Clicking with your mouse on the pictures and selecting "Copy Image URL". 5) Now the image is ready to use in the post that you are making on the site. Just select that area of the post, and then press the "Insert Image" button on the site that you are using (LBPC, LittleBigNetwork, LittleBigLand, or LittleBigPlanetarium): http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/tt179/amazingflyingpoo/AddImageButton.png 6) A window will now popup asking for the picture info. There are a few important things you need to do. First select the "From URL" option in the top tabs of the popup. You need to paste the URL that you copied in step #6 into the URL field, and lastly MAKE SURE that the "retrieve remove file and reference locally" is NOT selected. With this done, press the "Ok" button and your photo will be added: http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/tt179/amazingflyingpoo/PictureSettings.png That second way is a bit more confusing and requires setting some things up and having a USB drive, but it at least allows for more than 9 pictures while karting.lbp.me is working out some kinks Hope that that helps! | 2012-11-17 23:53:00 Author: amazingflyingpoo Posts: 1515 |
