littleBigPlanet wont boot up

Archive: 11 posts

my ten year old son is very sad

He has built lots of fun levels and has been playing the game for a week or so

Alas he tried lots of times to start the game today but it refuses to start up.

other games on the hard drive work ok.

other games work ok as well.

tried making a new user and restart the game still no joy

saved the save files to a new user and restarted the game still no joy

so i think it must be a problem with the loaded game

can anyone help please

kind wishes

dad

Is the LBP disc dirty or damaged in any way?2009-01-16 15:20:00

There's multiple possibilities. I would like to know exactly at wich screen the game stays stuck.

-It's possible the game data saved on the harddrive is corrupted for some reason. You might want to go into "game data" and erase it to see if the game boots without it. Game data = the installs and patches. It won't make you lose your progress.

-It's possible your saved game is corrupted. Normally they would advise you when you start the game but you never know what bug you might be encountering. I suggest you copy your save file for the game into an external device and then erase it from the PS3 harddrive. Try to boot the game without save file.

-Try to boot the game without game data installed and without save file.

If all the above didn't do a thing, it leaves 2 other possibilities:

-The disk is scratched or dirty and the PS3 cannot boot it.

-The PS3 is on its way out and its starting to get picky on wich disk he reads and wich he doesn't.

I would be surprised its the PS3 though because they are very well made and tuff.

Ok this looks like an game data or saved data issue. Try the tests I suggested you in my previous post.2009-01-16 15:41:00

red bar??

.

I think he means the power light turned red in result of a hardware failure.

Edit: Why did DrunkMiffy edit his post? Does "Silenced" as a user title mean banned?

I think it just means they can't post for so long?
Dunno why, he didn't seem to do anything wrong, unless I missed something.

Oh yeah Captmo, if you can read this, you could try sending your save file off to Mm, apparently they're after glitched files so they can work out what's going up with them.

Yeah the guy has been silenced so he can only communicate by PMs.

He told me that it did work using new game data and a new save file. So it was probably a save file problem he was having.
