Creating a tight spiral

| I wasn't in the beta, so I'm still wrapping my head around the track stuff. I'm trying to make a tight counter-clockwise spiral. It looks like a layer cake from one side with ramps on the reverse, and a launch pad back down from the top. Its all made from track pieces and material, so there's no proper track involved yet; I had thought I could just make it a detour from the main track, but I'm not sure how to do that. Since the exit is on the top, it doesn't form a loop so even if I fit it on top of actual track, it would probably just tell me I'm going in reverse. Any ideas?
