Background DLC?

Archive: 6 posts

So, this is basically a random idea I've just had. One "strong" disadvantage -at least from my point of view- LBPVita has compared to LBP2 or Karting is the ridiculously short amount of backgrounds. Even though we often get a new shiny background every time a Level DLC is released, I imagined a "mini" DLC which only contained backgrounds (lets say 3-4), and maybe a few stickers, decos and materials.

This backgrounds could be focused on the things people would like to build and have a background as support, but considering they have only these aside the blank one:

-The Marionetta. Lol not sure how to describe this one.
-Land of Odd. Principally forest, nature themes.
-Jackpot City. Techno, futuristic background. Lol, this is a must have in every LBP game.
-Coaster Valley. Uhmmm... Coaster levels?
-Spooky Mansion. For scary levels, or with a dark atmosphere.

Having more would allow so many new atmospheres. C'mon, who wouldn't love a pure clockworks background, or maybe a proper icy background as in LBP1?

Please comment your opinions! I'm also willing to know every background-suggestion your mind comes up with!

I can totally get on board with this, for all the games. More backgrounds!

I also am surprised there isn't more music DLC. I know they put the kebosh on any hope of a music importer, for legal reasons, and we do have the MIDI thing in LBP2 (and LBP Vita? not sure), but these are working with not-quite-full features. Like the 3D glitch being a way of creating out own backgrounds, the MIDI is a (more official) way of creating new sounds. But surely there's a market for more licensed tracks, more backgrounds, professionally produced.

Five games into a franchise that's built quite a lot around DLC, and DLC being one of the cheaper areas of sales experimentation, you'd think they would have tried this by now. I know I'd snap them up, even after so many months away from the game!

There was quite a bit of support for additional backgrounds on the PSP. A new background was included for each of the LBP1-themed DLC packs (The Gardens, The Savannah, etc.) so that was quite a bit right there. They also added a background with the Turbo! pack, as well as a free "Fantasy" background that was spectacular. In the end, the number of available backgrounds in the game was nearly doubled because of DLC. I'd love to see this same thing happen in LBPV.

Also, I moved the thread to [LBPV] Suggestions.

Yeah, I especially loved that Fantasy theme. It was free, and it was maybe the most awesome of them all. Awww.... 2012-11-14 21:02:00

I'd actually prefer interactive music over backgrounds as most levels appear to be using a custom layer background.
I'm sure porting the interactive tracks wouldn't be that much trouble as they appear to be in house creations and not songs licensed from a third party.

yeah I would like to see a music sequencer or more music dlc, or the ability too share sequenced music from lbp2-lbpv, would be a nice addition!2012-11-18 06:05:00
