Sackbots Following Tags

When I have a sackbot set to follow a tag they never quite reach it, they walk up to it and stop about one grid space before it and stare at it. I'm pretty sure that this is what's meant to happen but for the current level I'm building I want them to stop exactly on the tag, what do I do? Also I'd like to point out that I can't simply move the tag further along because I want the sackbot to approach from both directions. Thanks. | 2012-11-13 19:08:00 Author: PGdafrog ![]() Posts: 277 |
Well, I dont mess with sackbots, I'm strictly a top down creator, but if you don't mind a weird fix, given what you've provided I can give you somewhat of a fix... Put the tag on an invisible hologram, bolt the hologram where ever you need the tag to be, and have the tag on a micro chip with something that makes the hologram face away from the sackbot. (but the holo would have to be pretty small) so when the sackbot comes to it depending on what direction it comes from the tag would move accordingly. There are a lot of mock-up fixes that could be applied. Maybe even using two different tags and impact(touch) sensors. Of course neither of these methods work if its supposed to work with several bots and coming from both directions at once... | 2012-11-13 19:28:00 Author: RonPierce ![]() Posts: 131 |
Thanks Ron, I'll try that (or a different awkward workaround that would really only work with the logic I've already got) unless someone else comes up with a simpler fix? | 2012-11-13 21:29:00 Author: PGdafrog ![]() Posts: 277 |
Sorry, thats the best I can do, as I'm only experienced with Top-down, like I said, but I don't see why this couldn't work, really. | 2012-11-13 21:53:00 Author: RonPierce ![]() Posts: 131 |
I'm not saying that it wouldn't work. I'm saying that I'm lazy and looking for an easier solution. ![]() | 2012-11-13 22:15:00 Author: PGdafrog ![]() Posts: 277 |
It looks like that you need to put some vertical height in the position of the tag itself. I am assuming the tag is somewhere where the body of the sackbot would stand next to it. It will stop short of that. Try placing a bit of hologram with 0 percent brightness to give it more invisibility than a cloak given to an 11-year old wizard at Christmas, and attach a tag to it above the desired target point of where you want the Sackbot to stand. I have included the following snapshots for your exquisite reference. I am sure you find them a good place in your helpful creator building photo album. https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-GqFvOpfKXng/UKUUq9OlErI/AAAAAAAAADo/UzYQlAH0cPE/s640/A+Photo_2.jpg https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-jEhGXaXcoCY/UKUUq75ZWrI/AAAAAAAAADw/aG3F5ePkh5Y/s640/A+Photo_1.jpg https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-ui6SxWBAPIg/UKUUq4jZMWI/AAAAAAAAADs/o9dD6p8BnvU/s640/A+Photo.jpg | 2012-11-15 15:55:00 Author: WyomingMyst ![]() Posts: 101 |

Have you set them to 'Hostile'? I believe this makes them get right up and personal with who/whatever they are following. | 2012-11-16 22:37:00 Author: Jedi_1993 ![]() Posts: 1518 |

That was what I tried first as if they are set to follow player and hostile then that's what happens. Oddly it doesn't work like that when following a tag. | 2012-11-17 15:32:00 Author: PGdafrog ![]() Posts: 277 |
I know this seems kind of obvious, but you could just move the tag one grid space forward. ![]() | 2013-01-06 20:07:00 Author: qwerty123456 ![]() Posts: 309 |
