Opening/Closing Shortcuts

I noticed in the Story Mode, there are some tracks that open up an entirely different route on the last lap, and close the regular route.

What I'm having a hard time with is, telling the AI and the Reset Logic to not allow Karts to crash into the closed door, and respawn on the other side.
Opening/Closing gates and all that jazz I understand, that's the easy bit. What I don't know is how to effectively 'disable' a Branch.

There's an obstacle tweaker, can't remember the name right now, sorry. It let you mark something as drivable, obstacle or ignore. Might work if you put that on the gate.2012-11-11 22:42:00

Nah, that was the first thing I tried.
The Obstacle Tweak seems to work if it's a small thing that vehicles could concievable drive around. If it's an unavoidable object, however, they seem a bit clueless.
Also, that doesn't really resolve the issue of players respawning on the other side.

Have you tried creating a path and having the ai follow it? I used paths in the beta but haven't tried yet in the full game. In Beta, the ai would only follow their path when the level was published and played online.2012-11-12 00:08:00

I got mine working fine just using the pathfinder tool. I set it to ignore and they all just drove past it. But on the third lap they all went for it. Now I didn't use any weapons. I was just goofing around. But I think all you need to do is use the no respawn paint on those little sections of road and they should stay to the main path and respawn correctly.



Edit: sorry not ignore I meant set the path finder as a obstacle. Also I made my obstacles lethal and didn't have a problem with the respawning. It was always correct after I crashed into them.
