fast objects and missed collisions

Hi there,

I'm working on a realistic pinball game and I need accurate impact detection between balls & bumpers, for example

Once in a while, when objects are moving really fast, it looks like impacts are 'missed' and I end up with 2 objects interpenetrating.

Do you guys know about a way around this ?

I think the easiest work around for this is make sure the 'balls and bumpers' are thick. Too thin and they collide and often merge. Make the level LARGE, and zoom right out. Makes the thermo higher, but should work 2012-11-13 13:45:00

Indeed, bumpers' rubber ring could be thicker, gonna try a different design

Regarding zoom factor, I'm already as big as a game camera can handle.

EDIT:

ok, had no luck with thickening my objects

I had to add a bit more logic to my bumpers, so they don't move towards the ball before they are done moving backwards on response to ball impact.
Once still, they move again and no more missed collisions so far
