Quiz questions help

Archive: 10 posts

I am atm creating a quiz level about LBP, but i'm running out of ideas for the questions, so if anyone have a good idea for a question then please reply.

Hmm... I had a problem yesterday with some emitters, i sat three emitters to spawn 5 points max, but the first one emitted 7, but oddly enough when they was all three done emitting there was 15 points. And i don't understand why that could happen, i checked the settings of 'em, but they are as they should be.

Anyway i'm going to try doing it again, in a minute.

EDIT: Nevermind with the problem, i pressed unpause and the emitters spawned one point each, deleted them change max spawned to 6 and it works.

The questions should have three options to pick from like A: Something B: Something and C: Something else, and they shouldnt be insanely hard to answer. The questions can be about the story mode or creation mode tips like EastwoodAndy said.

So you had 3 emitters each spawning 5? And the total was 15? I don't understand the problem.

On a note though, any emitter that has a max amount set doesnt forget how many its emitted before. That goes for playcreate mode. The best thing to do with these is create them in pause mode and connect a switch to them (thats preferably off) before unpausing. Then only test if they work in play mode.

The problem was that every correct answered question gave 50 points (5 bubbles) but the first emitter emitted 7 bubbles, which it shouldnt do. And i found out that when unpausing they all spawned 1 then i answered a question correct and i got 4 bubbles, i just changed the max spawn limit to 6 instead of 5 then it worked.

Can you give us a bit more info on the type of questions you want?

Do you want thing things about the story mode like "What is the name of the character you meet in the xxx level?"

or stuff that actually gives the player tips about creation mode like "what is the heaviest material you can use to create an object?"

or industry type questions like "at which annual industry event was LBP unveiled?"

Well.... I was looking for something like the first one you mentioned, but 20 questions of that kind would maybe make it a bit repetitive (i hope i use the word correctly?) so i'm looking for both the first and the second one. Because the third one is maybe too hard

It might be nice to have some sort of random button system, so people don't run through and press the right button on a replay.

It could be good as well to have some sort of question pool of a lot of questions. That should encourage replays as well.

You could just make sequels, but without some sort of randomish system people will just play it once and that will be it. Random questions and correct answer positions should make it more interesting.

And that would be hard to do xD

It shouldn't be to hard to implement. For this kind of thing you wouldn't need so random thing working on its own you could simply use, user interaction at the start of the level instead to predefine what questions are chosen. You could even do that after every question if you wanted to.
For example using a prox switch stop a spinning wheel of keys for the questions. Place one at the start, and depending on the speed the player gets to that position a different question is choosen. To make sure the questions are kind of variable, put something in the way to slightly change what time each player activates the prox switch. Also I gues to stop the same questions being asked twice, attached the keys to dissolve on the wheel and have them drop off when they have been sucessfully choosen. I have no idea what I just said, hope some one understands.
