Gameglobe - F2P Web based level builder

Archive: 16 posts

Surprised there's not a thread on here for Gameglobe already. Anyone been playing?

I've been messing about in the beta for a few weeks now. Not got much to show for it as I've not quite worked everything out yet, but it looks quite promising. Worth a look anyway.

I'd be interested to see what you lot have to offer.

Signed up a while ago, thanks for reminding me

First thoughts: Seems a lot like what a 3D LBP should be like. It could be a good base.

Of course, despite being free, you need to unlock pretty much everything using gold coins. You get coins by leveling up, which you can do by completing levels and even by purchasing items. Or by spending real money of course, which is what they want you to do.

Anyway, I'm currently building a random escape-from-the-desert-pit level. Pretty fun, and I would recommend everyone tries it. After all, it's a lot like a 3D LBP would be.

I've signed up during the closed beta

I've had plenty of fun on Gameglobe also I love how the create features are very powerful and very LBP and Modnation like.

At first, I kinda disliked the xp grinding leveling up system to get coins to buy stuff thing but then I realized that it makes you wanna play levels created by not just the pros but also the newbies!

I've also created a few games on there too, so please check them out.

Yeah totally, I spent all night playing community levels last night. Played all sorts. I very rarely venture out of create mode in LBP.

It helps that pretty much everything looks absolutely gorgeous, no matter how skilled the creator.

Had to chuckle at the spam levels and antispam campaigns. Made me feel right at home lol.

Indeed! I can't believe there's been such a lack of interest.

Perhaps a snappier thread title is in order lol.

There's some new official (Free!) levels to play that showcase the nifty 'Mercenary' assets that have been added to the store.

well I tried to create an account but for some reason it will not let me. Created a user/pass and input birth date and it says I'm too young! Ha hahaha, good one gameglobe. tried several different ones and finally set the birth year to 1950 and it finally quit saying I was "too young" but then it kept saying username taken. Spent like an hour trying to set one up and finally just gave up on it.2012-11-21 04:19:00

Somebody mentioned that on the official forums yesterday actually. Looks like you just picked the wrong day to join, as it seems to be a new problem. I'll let you know if there's any response.2012-11-21 12:12:00

Here you go then.

It turns out that this was an accidental side-effect of an update on Friday. While we get it fixed, if you would like to, you can still sign up through Facebook. If you would like to do this, please simply click the "Sign in with Facebook" button on the homepage and follow the instructions.

Alternatively, please try signing up again tomorrow. We are working on getting this sorted as soon as possible.

Yay! I finally have an account and spent a good deal of time playing user levels. WOW! Blown away with what people are making. I think I'm going to try my hand at it and see what I can come up with. One thing that irritates me though, and I could be wrong on this, but the game is NOT 100% free. Sure you can level up and add coins that way (Level 5 and 470 coins already!) or you pay real money and get coins. Say I go into the store (where is it? I can't seem to locate it!) do I spend coins to get the new theme or do I have to spend real monies? It's kind of like Rings of Orbis. I started playing this "Free" online game last week and yeah, sure, it's 100% free unless you actually want to accomplish something. You really need a ship to do more in depth traveling and trading and what not but you can't spend the money you earn in game, no you have to buy something called "Ring Cash" with real money. No thanks.
Is that what it is here? It's 100% free unless you want the really cool packs then you need to fork over some cash. Kind of misleading. They should do this. 100% Free*

*unless you want to build something using the good stuff.

Yeah it's totally free. Everything can be paid for with the coins you earn in-game. Obviously it might take a while to earn enough to buy everything, but there's really no need to buy anything at all until you think you'll actually need it. Best thing to do is bookmark the site and make sure you log in everyday, as that alone will get you 15 daily coins, then it's just a case of playing community levels and publishing your own to level up. Make sure you play the official levels and tutorials too, as they also give you extra coins.

The coins soon tot up, just spend them wisely. I've unlocked more than enough assets to keep me going for a good while.

Thanks! Sweet! So everything is through the earned coins, though there is an option to get them faster. I like that.
