Full Speed Ahead, Boi!

Hey look, it's a new level by that guy! That's right kids, it's a new level by me, JAKEINATOR18blahblahblah! It's the only car platformer I've seen, so I guess it's sort of an accomplishment in the lowest form. In fact, this level is so semi-good, that I'm required to type in comic sans. WOW! The level is called: Full Speed Ahead, Boi! http://i1284.photobucket.com/albums/a577/JAKEINATOR_LBL/Levelimg2.jpeg http://i1284.photobucket.com/albums/a577/JAKEINATOR_LBL/Levelimg.jpeg CLICK HERE TO VIEW MORE PICTURES AND QUEUE THIS CRAP! woo hoo, this crap is queued! | 2012-11-05 01:37:00 Author: biorogue Posts: 8424 |
Thanks for the queue! I updated the thread with some pictures. EDIT: This is hilarious, weird, and slightly concerning. When I made that dumb platforming level, which I thought to be very low quality, everybody jumped at the opportunity to play it and by the end of the day it had 50 plays. Now, I post a level which I believe to be my best and only five people played it and those were the beta testers. What?! Someone, please play | 2012-11-05 15:01:00 Author: Unknown User |
well, I just TRIED to play it but after sitting through the opening dialog three times, I gave up. I was digging it and then when I could finally move, I ran left and right off the end of the platform and onto the level bottom. Oh well, I thought, I'll just pop myself. I came back through the level entrance and retriggered the cutscene dialog. Sat through it again. this time ran right and got to the character, jumped up on the ledge just at his feet, hopped up and to the left to be on that platform and ran left and blammo, retriggered the dialog yet again. Tried something else and yep, triggered dialog again and gave up. I WANT TO PLAY THIS LEVEL! put a counter set to 1 or something for that dialog. Will check back later. re-queued. | 2012-11-06 03:24:00 Author: biorogue Posts: 8424 |
yep, a double post. I replayed this last night in the hopes that it was fixed and was delighted to see it was working for me. Completely took me by surprise. I loved this. Incorporating the platforming with that little beast of a car was genius. It was great having a mixture of the two also, as in having to get out of the car to perform a task then hop back in your ride and carry on. I thought the gameplay was well balanced, though tricky is some places because the camera wouldn't move over fast enough and I'd find myself driving off of a cliff into fire! The boss battle, meh, I could have done without it myself. I though it dragged on way too long. It took forever to fill up that damage meter and then when you do fill it, it resets for round 2, then 3! I think the one round would suffice. Overall is a great level, really enjoyed this one. Thanks for sharing it with us. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-OR6fTeI8EDw/TySWVJINsPI/AAAAAAAABR4/aSEUWR2RrpU/s413/APPROVED.jpg | 2012-11-09 12:48:00 Author: biorogue Posts: 8424 |

As for the issues you had with the level, I was actually in the process of fixing those. | 2012-11-09 19:13:00 Author: Unknown User |
Looks like I jumped in tho this at the right time... had a heap of fun jumping the car through the level, got stuck a few times but nothing to really complain about. The very first car I jumped in seemed to end up floating after I drove it down the ramp, but I reversed and all was good. I was a bit confused by your button choices for the thrusters, I guess it makes sense but I pressed the wrong one a few times as it made more sense having linked to the direction the car would go in rather than which thruster to activate. But, again, not really a problem and you could argue it adds to the reflex challenge as the way they are set up isn't "wrong" and does look correct on the screen... | 2012-11-09 23:23:00 Author: Mr_Fusion Posts: 1799 |

I thought the same thing when the thrusters option was given. I was like "L2 forward? Gah! You diabolical fiend you!" I figured you mapped it like that to add a challenging aspect to it. Takes some getting use to, and many trips INTO the fire hazards but still left me with a smile on my face. This was such a refreshing level to me. After playing umpteen thousand "nature" platformers, it was very nice to see something new and different. Mad props. | 2012-11-10 02:02:00 Author: biorogue Posts: 8424 |

Thanks everyone! As for the thrusters, I will change the controls. I too thought it was a bit odd while testing the car, but I hoped no one will notice | 2012-11-11 05:23:00 Author: Unknown User |
